Huskers Shoot for Season Series Sweep Against Golden Gophers

The Nebraska women's basketball team plays its first weekend home game in a month, when the Huskers return to the Bob Devaney Sports Center to battle Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off between the Huskers and the Golden Gophers is set for 2:05 p.m. on Pepsi Pack the House Day at the Devaney Center.

Nebraska, which closed the first half of Big Ten Conference play with a 5-3 record following a 62-53 win at Ohio State on Thursday night, will shoot for a regular-season sweep of Minnesota. The Huskers ran to an 84-63 win over the Golden Gophers in Minneapolis on Jan. 20. Lindsey Moore led the Huskers with season highs of 26 points and seven rebounds to go along with seven assists and three steals in the first meeting. The senior point guard from Covington, Wash., is expected to tie the Nebraska record by making her 120th consecutive start on Sunday.

The Golden Gophers ran to an 82-67 win over Michigan Thursday. The win over the previously ranked Wolverines snapped Minnesota's four-game conference losing streak that included an 84-63 loss to Nebraska. Although Minnesota struggled to score at home against the Huskers, the Gopher offense has been firing on all cylinders this week. Along with scoring 82 points in the win over Michigan, the Gophers put up 86 points in a home loss to Illinois.

The Big Ten's leading scorer, sophomore guard Rachel Banham, has been the catalyst for the recent eruption. Banham, who is averaging 21.5 points per game on the season and 21.8 points per league contest, is averging 34.5 points per game this week with 37 points against the Illini and 32 against the Wolverines.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Minnesota 7-6, after running to an 84-63 win over the Golden Gophers in Minneapolis. It was the Huskers' first-ever win over Minnesota at Williams Arena.

Lindsey Moore is expected to make the 120th consecutive start of her career when the Huskers play Minnesota on Sunday. Lindsey has started every game of her career since leading the Huskers to a perfect 29-0 regular-season record and the Big 12 title as a freshman. Moore owns an 84-35 record as Nebraska's starting point guard.

Lindsey Moore and Jordan Hooper both enter the Minnesota game within striking distance of the 1,500-point plateau. Moore ranks No. 11 at NU with 1,477 points and is on track to become the first player in Husker history with 1,500 career points and 600 career assists (620). Hooper closed within seven points of Moore with her 28-point effort at Ohio State ranking No. 12 on the Husker career list with 1,470 points.

For you trivia buffs out there: This will mark the 10th time the Huskers have played on Super Bowl Sunday through out the years. They have a pretty good record to show for it also. They own a 7-2 record on Super Sunday with (4) of the games against Iowa St. This will be the 5th game at home to go along with 5 on the road. Last time we played on Super Sunday was 2 years ago at Colorado which we lost by the way. The first time was in 1993 at Iowa St.

Huskers playing like a top 20 team today! Demolish the Gophers 80-56. The difference in the 4 game winning streak from before is playing a tough 2-3 zone defense and Rachel Theriot starting to play like a veteran player. Player of the game Teara' Laudermill. Sure wish we could get Purdue back now the way we're playing. Lindsey evidently hurt her calf and had to be taken out and escorted underneath the stands in the first half for treatment. Came back the second half with her calf wrapped in a bandage. Like the saying goes you can't stop her you can only hope to contain her!. Tough kid, returned to the court to standing ovation! If no one else I gave her one!  Good to see JHoop driving and scoring under the bucket.

5 players in double figures.

Jordan Hooper with 27 points and 7 boards.

Tee Laudermill 14 pts.

Lindsey Moore steady as always 12 points, 7 assists

Emily Cady 10 pts, 7 rbs 3 steals

Rachel Theriot 5-5 from the field 11 points 5 assists 7 boards.

It's at Northwestern Thursday now. A Wildcat team that went in to Iowa and knocked off Iowa this afternoon.

I had to listen on radio to today's game.  It's very difficult to listen to Matt's Play by Play since "color" man Jeff is always talking while the action is going on.  Sometimes, I wonder who is play-by-play.  Must be the Matt Davidson influence.

Rachel Theriot is the most improved player over the course of the season.  What a line she had today, as Row 6 stated:  5-5 from the field, 1-1 from the line for 11 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 0 turnovers.  Outstanding; Row 6, she's my player of the game, although I agree T was big today, especially what she did in our zone defense.

I thought she got knocked for a loop, looked a bit groggywhen she got up.  And you forgot the elbow / arm to Cady at the beginning of the game she is tough as nails also.

I figure this is a "no," but is anyone on this board coming to Evanston?  Obviously, I'll be there in my half-and-half.

Nope Not Me. Wish I was going in March but my wife's boss will be in Vegas for the Nascar Car race so she has to work that week of the B1G Ten + 2 tournment

It's too bad those two freshmen with injuries sitting on the bench aren't healthy enough to get some playing time. It's some prime game time experience they're missing out on. Has anyone heard a time line with little Sadie Murren or what exactly is the problem with her ailing back? My understanding is Courtney Aitken is starting to work her way back into practice.

I talked to Courtney mother yesterday.  She suited up at Ohio St but developed some soreness so she was held out of yesterday's game.  Sadie who knows.  You know how backs injuries are.  As the case with Adri, sometimes you never come back.
