2 - Not having hands up when defending on catch and shoot. I believe coaches would like our guys to have both hands up as the guy is catching the ball, so even if we're a step late, they're looking at two hands. That didn't happen often. We closed out with a hand high on all of the 3s, but didn't have two hands up as the catch is being made (at least on the 3s that MSU shot).

Miles mentioned this specifically, especially late in shot clocks. That's a mental thing. Perhaps a sign of some fatigue setting in.

I went back and watched the start of the second half, mostly because I wanted to see the inverview with Lue, but early in the half, with MSU up five, Tai turned the corner, drove to the rim and drew the foul. They called it on the floor, but it probably should have been an and-1 with a chance to call it to two. On the ensuing possession, NU took a bad shot or turned it over or something which led to a MSU runout and  got an easy layup. I wonder how the game would have changed had that shot counted and Tai gone to the line. That was a pretty significant 5 point swing. There was a sketchy offensive foul called on Tai a couple of possessions later that was farily head scratching, too. I just wonder, that's all.

Alright, I'm done with MSU. On to Iowa.

Not something I even thought to look at...but to piggy back of your numbers, we are actually giving up more three point attempts per game at this point compared to the previous two years.  Interesting compared to your stats that while our opponents are taking less three point attempts compared to overall possessions but we are giving up more attempts per game...and even worse 2 + three point makes a game.  The below numbers are just conference stats...I did not lump in the non-con.

3 FG Attempts

2015- 19.2

2016- 18.8

2017- 20.5

3 FG Makes

2015-6.9

2016- 7.3

2017- 9.3

My numbers are tempo free. I could find the conference only numbers though

There were 2 or 3 times when we had something not go quite right that should have ended with a basket for us and MSU punished us immediately on the other end. Those 4-5 point swings really make a difference
