hate to say this, but, huskers need to get more athletic. period.

speed of the game is causing huskers fits. need stops.

anyone else watch the minny-iowa game? the first half was kind of the minnesota i expected. good defense (except on gusty, but, not many shut her down anyway) and minny started hitting the 3's again. from what i read, minny hasn't shot the ball well recently. iowa made some adjustments and played a better second half and jumped on minny. minnesota's defense can give huskers some problems. most of them are pretty quick and can swarm the ball. they can get out and run with the ball, too. not going to be an easy game. pitt's has started hitting 3's again and bell can take over a game. bello can rebound a has been pretty decent around the basket. lamke has been having her moments at the post, too. minny just got done spanking wisconsin at madison. wont's surprise me to see a back and forth game.

i listened to the game on the radio and had eyes on the men's game. didn't matt and jeff say the huskers went through a long stretch with only 1 offensive rebound? of course, possible they were shooting a pretty high % during that period, too.

i'm with Red Don on this one---see a "w" here. just have a feeling maddie is going to put together a good game. returning players make their presence felt. then, add the freshman do their thing and that means: huskers 78 illinois 71

just for the record, "amateur opinion" were sm's words? matt coatney just asked coach williams about her starting lineup (on sports nightly). believes the upper classmen are playing a little "tight". trying too hard to do everything they can to get that "w".

fwiw, listened to sam m on TBL today. in his amateur opinion, believes amy williams is a very good coach---and very good for nebraska. however, he believes coach williams has stuck with this starting lineup too long.

i would agree with longtimefan for the most part: wouldn't mind seeing a change in the starting lineup to see if huskers can jump out to a lead. no problem here with starting the 4 freshman and kissinger---or cain, brown, haiby, verbeek and kissinger. maybe this could open things up a little more for cain. but.....i'm guessing if there is a change, brown may be the one.

hate to say this, but, i get so nervous with the ball in hannah's hands. she just isn't progressing, imo.

husker scoring droughts will have to be very limited/short in nature---maryland can score and will most likely exploit those situations. i watched a good chunk of maryland-rutgers matchup. combination of rutgers being able to score (which hasn't really been the norm for them) and being able to go toe to toe in rebounding with maryland provided the perfect brew for an upset. this is a game where second chance points could be huge. maryland is 2nd in the big ten in offensive rebounding. huskers are 11th in defensive rebounds. huskers tied for last place in scoring defense (w/penn st) 70.4ppg while maryland is 2nd allowing 55.4ppg. block out.

with verbeek "going home"---sort of, hope she stays within her game and doesn't push too hard. should be interesting---you can bet iowa isn't about to let a repeat of what happen last season in iowa city.

i'm interested in seeing the mershon/gustafson matchup when mershon enters. no doubt, she will get "schooled" but, mershon can bring some aggressiveness and if she can adjust to gusty should be interesting. wouldn't mind reading some other comments, but, i think mershon brings a little "RB factor" back to the huskers game. actually, both mershon and verbeek do---at least imo.

i have to apologize to noah, again. i was thinking the one gal (whose name i can't spell at the moment) was gone. big rebounder. anyway, nw not looking like a bottom feeder. this coaching "experiment" by illinois could be coming to an end. i think she needs to show some big improvement or she may not see next season. illinois looks rough.

i really hope things come around for hannah now. that has been tough to watch, too.

too many times i saw her playing offense out around the perimeter-------and, i am just going "whut---why?" i would like to see her battle for that ball down below. just watch how gustafson fights for position down below. i just don't see that aggressiveness from cain. might help open things up more from the outside---especially for kissinger. something she might benefit from. dang, if simon could just clean up that (passing) game a little. limit those "brain farts". she still ends up with 16.

after watching minny-wiscy game---that was my reaction. they just didn't seem to have that "get up and go" like they did last season. who knows, might change yet. maybe it will once they get hubbard back (i think she is the one out with injury---she adds another "3" dimension).
