from the coach yori post game interview, she mentioned the same thing.

i can accept a few to's trying to get the ball down low to jess------BUT, those lazy, looping passes in the backcourt (that wilson stole, btw) were just driving me nuts!!! not to mention the other passes in the backcourt that were just thrown right to her. sheeeeeesh like coach yori stated in post game interview with matt----"we tried to give it away". i guess if there is a positive, they did win (on the road) with 27 turnovers! with some grit and being pretty scrappy! if you could take away a third of those to's, this game might not have been close. wasn't pretty, but, they got the 'W'----great win for the men, too!!! i screwed up there, for some reason was thinking they started an hour later than the women and would catch the second half. Purdue does have a pretty good defense. Versyp did a nice job of preparing them for the huskers.

did anyone else catch coach yori and matt on sports nightly tuesday night? maybe i am way off base, and feel free to correct me. coach yori was discussing rachel. to me, it sounded like rachel may have become really frustrated with the younger group in practice. seemed to be causing a little problem, therefore, rachel may have needed a little "attitude adjustment" (not starting). if true, hopefully it's all water under the bridge now. huskers need rachel to perform like rachel can. btw, it was a great interview with kendall clark. impressive young woman.

don't understand the rpi all that well, but, would have to believe the ooc schedule was not real helpful. was listening to sam mckewon last night on sports nightly. mostly talked about football recruiting, but, did touch on the husker wbb. if i heard him correctly, i believe he mentioned the huskers probably need to reach 21 wins.

imo, gonna have to find a way to win some road games. hopefully, it starts with at least a split this week. at the present, that iowa game hurt,---a game they could have won.

agree with Matt---should have been Nat's-----shouldn't have anything to do with Jess' award.

i thought we might see more of a Clark-Simon mix against Rutgers. especially with Maddie's athleticism. think Maddie only got 3 minutes against PSU and 7 against Illinois, so, evidently Maddie is going to have to show a little more in practice. think BigTen play for Clark has been a bigger adjustment than what she might have expected. especially around the lane. i think it closes a little faster than what she may have been used to. may be one of the reasons she missed that "bunny" against Rutgers. the 3's are probably a different story. just not dropping like many of us hoped for. Cazzie22 is correct-Clark brings some pretty good defense and is scrappy.

Certainly not trying to offend anyone....but not sure it's even a strategy.....but I guess it is to some extent probably. Kind of expect that kind of play from the current Rutgers team, and a couple of other schools. In Rutgers case, they play like... who they are. Street ballers..bangers, no holds barred. And at the same time they don't play much together as a team....rather look at me, me , me...shoot It's up to the coach to "corral" that "energy" and focus/mold it into a team. Rutgers isn't in that place now. A good organized, skilled, and hard working "team" can beat a team like Rutgers.....and we did. We'll probably see a reflection of ourselves a few times when we play from here on out. I think Illinois and Penn State fit that mold as well IMO. agree Penn St can develop an attitude. i think Illinois tries, but, it isn't working. imo, Rutgers is the worst, by far. the only thing that may have saved that Rutgers player (for flagrant) was that Cincore's head/body was turned---but, i still think it should have been called.

wow-----thanks huskers for proving me wrong in my pool! so very happy to be wrong! 5 turnovers? really? 5? very impressive compared to psu game. also rather impressive how huskers defense improved as game went on. quite a few of rutgers shots in the second half were contested, even though they knocked some down. not as many "easy" looks. i don't know if it frustrated rutgers the second half, or, it wore them down---especially 4th quarter. i didn't agree with ref's decision on the "possible" flagrant foul. imo, should have been called---and i would say the same if it was a husker player in the same situation. to me, it was obvious the rutgers player knew what she was doing. i noticed on a free throw attempt that one of rutgers bigs (can't remember which one) was using her elbow in a rather blatant fashion. something could have been called there, too. rutgers will attempt to play street ball---they will push the limits.

sorry to hear the news. no doubt, a difficult time. prayers for her and the family.

**************Regarding 43: I'm not sure she has college moves for down low yet (as "longtime fan" stated). But since I watch her when she is on the court I have an educated (albeit biased) opinion. Bottom line... She rarely gets the ball down there. I watch her repeatedly post up and no pass is attempted. This usually happens when 32 isn't playing. It frustrating for her because posting up is very hard work. And... There is a very small window for a successful pass to a post player. On a lighter note... Regarding 43's nickname... Theriot is the team's Rachel. My Rachel hates being called RB. She likes being called Burns. That's what her teammates call her. Just FYI. i just thought "RB43" had a nice "ring" to it. you know, fitting with her number? anyway, will refrain from calling her "RB43". "burns" it is. probably has been a little frustrating for her. i am sure she will keep working hard---her time will come for more opportunities.

Michigan State Rutgers ( ) Maryland Penn State Ohio State Illinois Minnesota rutgers can play a style that most likely will give huskers fits---fast and chaotic. throw in physical, too---watched the rutgers/iowa game and rutgers is not afraid to foul. i'll gladly drop in the pool if it means i am wrong and huskers get a 'W'!

1. no doubt-----big win for northwestern thursday night, but, OSU turned it up too late. 2. i think we have a good idea who has the potential to be one, if not THEE leader of the upcoming seasons. 3. need to find at least another if you want a shot at the ncaa's 4. hopefully, MS can get in a groove 5. imo, hope has faded for KC to become the scorer we thought she might be. don't get me wrong, she has been a scrapper and has done some very good things---but, not the consistent scorer huskers really needed. RT is becoming a "head scratcher"---something we never expected. it seems like she has had more miscues this season than past seasons combined. having a shot at the ncaa's may just rely on her performance the rest of the way. fans are rooting for her to pick it up the rest of the way. 6. need to realize when to pull in the reigns a bit. at times, players try to force things that aren't there. 7. bench isn't as deep as we had hoped. i know coach yori had mentioned (after ooc) that the competition didn't turn out to be quite as competitive as they had hoped. i would be surprised if the ooc schedule isn't stronger from now on---and it should be.
-
the one thing that was driving me nuts was the inability to cut off the driving lanes----well, that and getting caught flat footed when it came time to rebound. maybe add not boxing out, too. tip of the hat to K. Clark!!! $$$ not sure what to think of the RT situation. like Row6Seat10 states, disappointing. maybe it's me, but, i really have questioned her body language in more than a few games this season. i think she really misses cady, sample, 'T', and jeffries----i wonder if, much of the time, she isn't frustrated with this lineup. she has been labeled as the "leader" of this team and it could be a situation she doesn't fully embrace. i could be way off base, but clearly, something isn't right. whatever it is, i hope it all gets worked out------i am sure we don't need to remind her it's her final season as a husker. we all want her to go out in a good way.

what i will be watching for: huskers get a good start right out of the gate. don't dig yourselves a hole. said it earlier, need to follow up the illinois performance with another 'W'. from penn states perspective: http://www.centredaily.com/sports/college/penn-state-university/psu-basketball/article54378705.html

completely agree with going to video to see if there was time left on the clock when the shot went through the basket. it's the technical on the bench that was called that made absolutely no sense to me at all. putting .4 back on the clock was understandable---plus, the only thing that might leave a team with is a deflection (tip) into the basket. -

what a wuss for a coach "HUNDREDS" lol plus, when the referees blew their whistles to get people's attention, it appears to me the people on the court followed their instructions. players on the bench too. glad to see someone holds referees accountable. not to forget, the red light went off, clock showed no time left---everyone thought game was over. Winona State coach Scott Ballard acknowledged that he brought up the idea of a technical foul to the officials. “I put the bug in their ear," he told the Winona Daily News "You can’t have people storming the floor before the game is over. That’s interfering with the conclusion of the game. There were hundreds of them. It wasn’t like a dozen. It was the entire student section.” -
reduce those to's and it's a pretty darn good performance by the huskers. got lazy with a few of those passes. next big step is to go to Penn St and come out with a win. i noticed coach yori followed RB43 down and back up the bench when she took her out after mishandling a pass from theriot. don't think she was asking her "how's the knee?"

didn't illinois lose a good one in that minny game? i did see a player on the bench dressed, but, had a huge knee brace on.
