  1. Broken record for the third game. No post play, 9 pts. and 5 rebs as a combined effort will not cut it. You have talent there get them involved in the game. Defensively it's a team sport not five individuals. Finally offensively ball movement is good thing. There is more to the game than 3 pt. shooting, I'm not really sure the coaching staff has figured that out. Basically all out lousy effort, most high schools in Nebraska would have beat them in this game. Turn the page and move forward.
  2. Is it me or is 34 to 9 a bit too lopsided from the foul line.
  3. Nice effort. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of presence on the post. Alexis and Maggie only had 8 shots collectively. 4 of 8 by my count is 50%. If you're 50% or better you need to be fed the ball more
  4. I really think we missed Weidners defense, but the bigger issue was the lack of post presence and lack of discipline on inbound plays
  5. Three words repetition repetition repetition. Ball goes up box out and look for ball. Practice and game repetition is the only way to get there.
  6. Oh I forgot. I thought our energy was poor until coach went full court press which increased the energy level substantially, so good job coach.
  7. A few thoughts. *Tonight was the worst I've seen Jaz play and also the worst Annika has shot this year and we still won by 37. *MM is going to be pretty special the best part was free throws 5 for 5 and she didn't touch the rim. An understanding that contact is your friend. * Markowski is developing that Griffenesk quality of watching the game you think she's not that involved, you look up and the stats say 22 and 10. * Sam still has that nice hesitation move on her way to the rim. The burst of speed is not there yet but hopefully it comes back. * I am waiting for Weidner to figure out she's skilled and athletic enough to take over a game. * Finally it's quite a work in progress but I just love Moriarty's game
  8. We are only two scholarships short, but are long on absences. Right now Miss Haiby, Miss Dillard, Miss Bourne, Miss Brady and Miss Mendelsen are unavailable. I haven't seen enough of three of them to have an idea about what we are missing, but with Sam and Issie I know a quick return is definitely desired. They have intangibles we need and need back soon.
  9. Could not agree with you more. Defense and rebounding are how you win road games. Limit the other teams scoring, no second chance and let your defense get you easy buckets. I really had high hopes that Coach Williams would hire a defensive specialist, but alas bigs shooting 3's is all that seems to matter to this staff.
  10. No grit all quit in the 4th. Defense none, rebounding none and offense a joke at best.
  11. Not to disappointed, besides a poor start we're hanging in and this easily the best team we've faced.
  12. Shelley, Weidner, Markowski, Krull and Bourne, are far too talented to be this bad.
  13. Nothing tricky they play defense and are mentally tough. We do not defend and have less mental toughness. Our coaching staff is offended with the idea of defending, but I've been saying that for years.
  14. i had rotator cuff repair it 5 mos. to get in. ortho centers are booked pretty heavily and there is a big time mess with insurance, billing and scheduling between both. In truth she got in pretty quickly
  15. watch Maddie play a few times. Her foot work on defense and boxing out is a bit better than any of the guards that I've seen on our current roster, but no she will not drive the lane like Sam did. The good news is that yes we are deep at the guard spot and I expect both Allison and Kendall to take big steps forward, they both have the athleticism to do so. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Nailah and Callin bring to the table. As for replacing the drive and finish at the rim, Allison may be our best option.
  16. They changed the rules in volleyball recruiting, it obviously hasn't changed yet in basketball.
  17. probably 3 top 50 rpi and 6 top 100 rpi teams. This is a sound schedule. A couple teams to let us try rotations along with a sound tune up teams and some rpi help to help push tourney seatings.
  18. keep an eye on what Britt Prince. If I were her I would be thinking Britt and I can make the best back court in the country. Anyway just a thought.
  19. USC and UCLA kind of interesting. If I was robbing the "pack 12", I think I'd of shot for Stanford and Oregon. As Stanford would make the big 10 the dominant women's conference by like not even close VB, BBall etc. etc. . Oregon would create relevancy in track and baseball on the men's side. That being said California recruiting should be wide open now. Hint: time to dive into that pool of talent.
  20. a year ago i'd said we had no shot a her. at this point call me crazy, but i think there is a good shot. reason: -Mendelson, Markowski pretty good options to throw into. -cutting our teeth with the likes of Weidner and Krull -gets to go under Jaz's wing, who cut her teeth under Ionescu's wing. if you want to be the best, learn from the best. 4 primary interests: PT: check Have fun: check Win: check Academic success: check Add on a chance to be the transformative player that takes a program to the might be worth while Finally chance to be the face of the women's program, which a year ago I'd of thought impossible with the success of volleyball. Remove Stivrins and Jaz is possibly the next most prominent face in women's sports in Lincoln what a difference a year makes. we went from pretty bare to checking many boxes
  21. did not know about out door track FOY, thank you HUD
  22. OMG the complaining. We do not require a super star. Give me 5-10ppg, 5-10rpg and enough athleticism to set a quick pick and cut off the lane for dribble penetration. That would make me happy.
  23. I'm a really interested in how she fits. She came out of high school rated higher than Iowa States Emily Ryan, so the talent is there. My then question is, who is the third starter, her or Allison Weidner? I can almost promise Sam and Jaz will both start.
  24. sounds like a good problem to have. Dillard and Brady are guards also by my count that would make, should either discover good health.
