Lynch no blocks vs Thimanga but he's 0-4 or so shooting over him. No shoot even close to going in.
-
Roby is such a liability on offense. Hope for much more next year. One stuff a game and nothing much more other than a steal of a block now and then.

We can find more ways to turn the ball over without help than any team I've seen.

Morrow's foot problems have been evident since return. Explosiveness and elevation are not what they were before he sat out. He's back but not.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 22 - Michigan State
bkamler replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I was very impressed with MSU passing. Especially with four freshmen! After they brought the ball past half court the dribbling stopped. They used a series of quick passes both short and long and many times went up to catch the pass and simply tipped it to the open man. Can't cover great passing. We on the other dribble excessively while the other four stand around mostly. -
When commenting about the Southern game Miles said we were playing small" in order to match up with them. We were at home playing a team that was basically paid big bucks to come in and lose to us and we go "small" to match up with them? How about we play our bigs and let them try to match up with us? Tsimanga had 6 points and 5 boards in 14 minutes. Projected to 30 minutes he would have had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Morrow had 8 points and 3 boards and 1 block in 17 minutes. Over 30 minutes that projects to 14 points, 5 boards and 2 blocks. Those stats merit more minutes not less. Neither had foul problems so it was a coaches decision to bench them. i am amazed that Miles felt the need to "match up" to Southern who had a 4-7 record with wins coming against Tennessee Tech, Paul Quinn, Florida A and M and Ecclesia College! As to Horne's breakout game and previous lack of playing time due to defensive deficiencies per Miles I would never sit a guy who was hustling but struggling on D if I thought he would out score the guy he's guarding. Simple math In my opinion.

I for one know for a fact that Pitchford spent way too much time drinking way too much downtown. His actions like this matched his lackadaisical play his last year. He did not care to be playing basketball.

How about Miles hires an assistant coach who brings along with one of his JC players who hapoens to be 6'10 and 250 pounds with developed offensive and defensive skills? I would love that AC hire!

In today's Journal: Mike Daum, 6'9, 230 pound center for South Dakota State in NCAA tournament. From Kimball, Ne. Was All State Class C-1 Took unofficial visit to NU his Jr. HS season but lost contact with coaching staff and never discussed walking on at NU. Was offered scholarships by Lehigh, North Dakota U., Idaho State, Wyoming and SDSU. Mother was All Anerican BB player at Wyoming. Father played football there and played part of one season for HoustonOilers. Good genes. He currently leads SDS in scoring at 15.2 and rebounding at 6.1 while playing about 29 minutes a game as sixth man. Shooting 42% on threes and 56% overall. Looks like a huge miss by NU especially when you look at our dire need for a Big.

Greatest Hustle Play in Husker History
bkamler replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Hare gets my vote. My father and I were there. Hare's shot came off the rebound of his jump shot. He hustled in and got the rebound but had to shoot it ala a backwards Rick Barry free throw from three feet away. It rattled around and rolled in right at the gun. Yes they fired blanks to signal the end of games. We were in the top row of the coliseum and you could barely see the court due to the smoke from all the fans smoking. Those were the days! -
Nebraska (12-8) vs. Purdue (18-4) Game Thread

Hammond and Hass are 11/14 on FG's and 7/7 on FT's for 29 points at the half way point. -
NU diehard post about Huskers not attacking the press echoed much of what I have complained about since Miles has been our coach. We let the ball bounce several times under the basket after a made bucket. Several times we picked up the ball and handed it to the ref after a made basket! As a point guard I was taught to scoop the ball up and in bound it to a teammate who was streaking to our basket BEFORE the press could get in position. If said teammate encountered pressure that would slow him down he passed the ball to me who was streaking toward our basket. Objective: Score on a layup and break the press! Not rocket science!!!

Unbelievable as it is but the fact is that Bennie cannot dribble in traffic without looking down to see the ball. We had dribbling drills in high school where we would put on glasses except they had no lenses but instead had blinders under the eyes so that you could not see the ball as you dribbled. Bennie can either see the action while dribbling and turn it over at a high rate or look at the ball while dribbling and miss what's going on around him. Neither option should be in play in college basketball.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 8, Issue 11 - Rhode Island
bkamler replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The reason Parker turns the ball over is that in traffic he has two choices: 1. look at the ball as he dribbles it while missing passing opportunities or not being able to see traps coming his way or 2. Not looking at the ball and mishandling it because is a poor ball handler. I root for him and he hit a clutch shot but he absolutely kills us on offense! -
One and done? Wow! While I love his contributions to the Huskers, one and done is really quite a leap from where I see him right now. He is a good stationary shooter. Good rebounder for his size. Great free throw shooter. Decent ball handler. Ok defender. Below average passer. Drives now and then. But I may be under estimating him. All and all I'm very happy he's a Husker.

I spent some time creating a chart which covers stats through the Tennessee game. I took the various stats like points and rebounds for each player and converted them into 30 minute segment showing what each player is averaging per 30 minutes. For example if a player played 100 minutes and scored 50 points that would equate to .50 points per minute X 30 equals 15 points if he played 30 minutes per game. Avg. points per game: 19.14 White (He has been as advertised) 16.30 Shields 12.50 Jacobson (Surprising point production mostly at the line where he is deadly) 12.33 Watson (Just about right) 12.16 Evelyn (Doesn't play much but surprising) 12.00 McVeigh (Good production off the bench) 10.66 Webster (If he can keep it up we are going to win some unexpected games) 9.91 Hammond (Decent) 7.84 Morrow 7.76 Fuller 4.66 Parker Avg. rebounds per game: 10.42 Jacobson (This tells me he needs to play more against the big's coming up) 9.64 Hammond (Same here if he can stay out of foul trouble) 8.06 Morrow (Got to cut down on TO's and hit free throws to play more) 7.76 Fuller (For his size, he's a banger but has to start hitting his free throws) 6.41 Shields (Steady Eddy) 6.00 McVeigh (Decent for his light weight frame) 5.71 White (Helping out on the RB's) 4.92 Webster (See above) 4.03 Evelyn 2.88 Watson 1.72 Parker Avg. free throws attempted per game: 8.28 Fuller (Like I said he's a banger but got to hit more of them) 7.50 Jacobson (Getting to the line and he hits them) 6.49 Evelyn (Benny needs to watch how he does it) 5.03 Shields 3.75 Hammond 3.70 Watson 3.31 White 3.24 Morrow 2.95 Webster 2.77 McVeigh 0.86 Parker (This is embarrassing for a point guard but not surprising) Top players with steals in order: Watson Shields Parker Players with most turnovers in order: Morrow (Got to improve on this to play more) Shields Webster White Least turnovers in order: McVeigh (Great for a freshman) Watson (Great to see for a young point guard) Hammond
