  1. Not visiting k-state anymore according to on3
  2. I’ve seen him anywhere from late first to late second
  3. Wisconsin fans think they pitched him the AJ Storr role. Frankie liked being "the guy" for Omaha. I am interested to see what he chose. Stay close to home and take on a lesser role where he's not the primary scorer. Or buy the snake oil that Gard is selling.
  4. Everyone is turning down the Kentucky job. Jay Wright, Billy Donovan, Scott Drew, Nate Oats, Danny Hurley. Hopefully they end up hiring Brad Underwood. Bruce Pearl is probably the only one left with the personality to be able to deal with that circus.
  5. Something I was really impressed and happy with during the season is how our play as a team wasn't really affected when 1 or more of our rotation guys were out. Keisei, Juwan, Mast, Josiah, CJ all missed at least one game. It didn't matter, we kinda just looked the same regardless. Still put a quality product on the floor. Kansas looked like a dang mid-major team when one or both of their two best players were out. That type of piss poor roster construction should never happen at Kansas. Bill Self may continue to struggle now that everyone else can pay players too.
  6. You’re right, but I will not defend Greg McDermott under any circumstances. Hated him ever since he congratulated Grant Gibbs for kicking Petteway in the nuts. 49r still gets my upvote
  7. I'm kind of assuming he'll follow his coach to Saint Louis. But if we're looking for a perfect fit for a Hoiberg "5", this is the guy.
  8. Interesting. If Ashworth and Miller are all they have back out of that starting lineup they could be in trouble.
  9. I thought Kalkbrenner had already said he'd be back. Alexander's draft stock keeps slipping little by little the older and older he gets. This is a very weak draft class overall so he could still go late first round. He should leave.
  10. Maryland in there every year regardless is laughable
  11. They do have a 7’3” guy on the roster. And another one coming next year. Not sure how good they are though. Painter has finished top 4 in the Big Ten in 14 of the last 18 seasons. His model of recruiting and developing to his system prevailed through the 1 and done era and I think they’ll be fine in the portal era too.
  12. I don’t think UConn is nationally hated the way other blue blood programs are. But Hurley and Spencer are making a good case as to why they should be.
  13. So were Josiah Allick's numbers this year. That doesn't tell the story. I'm not saying he couldn't have a role here. But it wouldn't be Derrick Walker's role. Payne can't handle the ball and doesn't see the floor like that. They're just very different players.
  14. The Huskers handled Kris Humphries and the Gophers in their house 20 years ago. For that game I had to follow along on 1-800-TELL. Did anyone else ever have to use that? We had a good team that year. I believe that’s also the year Dourisseau brought down the whole damn goal against Tennessee. Why the h*ll was Nate Johnson not a full time starter?
  15. There is real value in having a starting caliber player who doesn’t have any pro aspirations. A guy who isn’t trying to showcase or advertise his individual skillset to pro scouts. Just wants to contribute and play for a great college team for one more year before going back to the family farm.
  16. The entire offense was run through him. He could handle the ball, take opposing bigs off the dribble and his feel, vision and passing ability for a “center” were pretty unique at the college level. Fortunately we found Mast, who has similar abilities but not quite to Derrick’s level imo. Mast is obviously a better shooter, though. I’m not sure if you’re implying that Payne is capable of doing these things, but that’s not his game at all.
  17. Awesome. Really interested to read his post-commit interview with Washut, assuming there will be one. The staff pitched him the Mast role. I think Mast is coming back. I suppose $200k makes it easier to convince a senior to come off the bench.
  18. He was also a 5 star on Rivals until their final rankings came out. He ended up the highest 4 star, one spot behind 5 star status.
  19. Hopefully good news for us. Schaefer (I think) said he wants to be close to home. He’s been #1 on my portal wish list since months before he entered.
  20. Iowa State now has commitments from two portal post players. It was thought that Kyle was priority #1 for them.
  21. That’s pretty normal for lottery picks coming out as freshmen in college. The potential #1 pick was Colorado’s third or fourth best player. Kentucky has two of them this year who actually weren’t in the starting lineup.
  22. I’m gonna disagree. UCONN is very good, but not unbeatable. Talking heads are saying they’re a historically great team and I just don’t think that’s true. They have had historically fortunate paths to two consecutive championship games. UCONN didn’t have too much for Creighton. Stylistically, Purdue is just a much better version of Creighton. Edey is the one guy in college basketball who can get Clingan in foul trouble and UCONN doesn’t have depth. Braden Smith will be key. Quicker, lower center if gravity guards (NC State and Tennessee) can get up under him and give him problems. That’s not what UConn has. Newton and Spencer are longer, but they do lack in lateral quickness. He could have a huge game, kind of like Ashworth did against them (and Smith is on a whole other level than that guy). I’m glad it’s a Goliath vs Goliath matchup. That doesn’t seem to happen too often. Purdue will be by far the most sound, disciplined team UConn has played in these last two tournaments. I’m taking the Boilermakers.
  23. Oakland guy is also very much a jump shooter. Participating in a set shooting contest.
  24. And another note: Washut predicts Andrew Morgan to Nebraska.
