Not dramatically. Some instances yes. But the biggest difference is that we knocked down the open looks. Against Kansas State, at one time we were once 5 - 10 on three-pointers and then we painfully missed 18 straight 3 pointers. Some of them were due to bad selection. But oftentimes, we simply clanked open looks. Many times, those open looks were created by decent passing/movement. So yes, it can seem like movement improved, in my humble opinion hitting shots cures many ills...or there is an appearance of healing those woes. It sort of a band-aide over the owie. I just think that shooting over Big Ten defenders is much more difficult than shooting over a pretty woeful Kennesaw State. So is our offense flexible enough to adjust our approach. So far, we have not shown that flexibility.

Best Nebraska Men's Basketball Coach This Century?
Huskerpapa replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Cip and Moe got grief on their abilities but were good coaches. If the NCAA format was the same then as it is now, we wouldn't be wishing for our first NCAA tournament win. -
What a bunch of losers!!! Just kidding---heart breaking loss with a fantastic effort!

Kansas State (5-3) vs. Nebraska (5-6) Game Thread

I will be VERY interested in our adjustments and the resulting results. Dare I say, this may tell us if we still have some sort of chance to salvage a season. -
A couple months ago I heard a similar "story" was breaking at Creighton and nothing ever came from that rumor either. Methinks someone out there is giggling about their misguided ability to create sports panic. What a tool.

Well crap. Godspeed on your road to recovery!

Us 69 Them 74 I will not pick another Husker win UNTIL they win one. I will not open myself up to more angst/disappointment. -
The opposite of love is not hate

Rollercoaster! This season has been a 5* ride. I think back to my reaction following the worthless yet exhilarating exhibition win against Colorado (how are they playing?) to the directional school loss, the Creighton fiasco to the 4 OT loss now the last two blowout embarrassments. Whew! What's next??? I shudder to imagine! -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 11 - vs. Auburn
Huskerpapa replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
First of all, I must apologize. A couple of weeks ago I defended our defense and defensive schemes. I was wrong. I am not sure how or what happened but the scheme is NOT working. We are not defending anything nor are we in a position to rebound so we are doubling down on ineptness. And on offense, I am sorry, we currently appear clueless. Do we miss Trey that much??? That is a question that may have more depth than a simple yes or no answer. Because right now I question the character and chemistry of this team -

I simply do not appreciate, understand or accept the way we play the game. Perhaps we will work through this ugliness. But right now we are playing BAD basketball, and we are a BAD basketball team. -
Nebraska (5-5) vs. Auburn (7-1) Game Thread
Huskerpapa replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Here is the deal though, as a coach you have to put players in a position to succeed against any team; and you have to set expectations, and require players to meet or exceed those expectations. Right now, because our style of play (the last two games) we are not holding players accountable nor are we adjusting our game plan (offensively or defensively) for the players to succeed. -

Part of the issue is character. I don't expect the players to be stupid and throw punches, but I do expect them to have pride in how they look and play. It is disappointing watching the shoulders slump, the lack of hustle and the failure to figure things out. Be a teammate at the very least. -

I do wonder if they shoot like that all the time? Chuck was right though, they do take a lot of ill advised shots. But man, they are going in for them today. -
