Dear God Almighty: It is February and I am going to have a bracket posted here by tomorrow night. Promise. We might not be in it. But it's worth a look.

KenPom 2013-2014 KenPom Rankings Thread

I'd agree with throwback on this one. If you can get to 16-14 and then figure out a way to win one at the B1G Tournament you are near lock for the NIT. That said, given how young this team is, I'd love to see them play in any post season tournament to be honest. I really can't believe that we are talking about an NIT bid this late in the season given how 'new' this team is. Amazing. -
Deverell Biggs dismissed from the team

Tim sounds like a defeated man. Sad, almost. I wonder how Deverell was treated by his teammates? -
Do we win at Penn State without him? I mean, 19 assists yesterday. I don't know.

I'm hearing that Mr. Biggs is no longer a part of "Us. Always." Sound best to me. And, I feel terrible saying that.

I'm expecting the UGH game, I hoping it doesn't happen. Penn State - 72 Nebraska - 67 -
Mose -- I'm in Omaha for work and have a flight out tomorrow so I am downtown at the Hampton. I went to DJs for dinner and watched the first half of both games. Wragge shoots from places that no one else in the worlds shoots from. This will be both great (tonight) and awful I suppose because there will be off nights. I know we are supposed to hate Creighton over here, but they play a wonderful brand of hoops and I wish we could learn to space the floor like they do. Who is researching on if Creighton and NU have ever beaten ranked teams on the same day?

I told everybody I knew that if we got one win in our first five we'd be ahead of pace. That said, it's encouraging to see that we have the talent to have been 3-2. Am I happy we are 1-4? No. But, if you don't think we are improving or making progress, I think you are not paying attention.

It'll be interesting to see how the boys respond.

Did anyone see Georgia beat Mizzou last night in Columbia? An emotional win for Coach Fox, who I have always like and thought would have been a good fit for Nebraska when we hired Doc. -

I took this out of Dave's report card for Iowa and it is where we are with this group right now. And, you know, that's not a terrible thing. But if you look at our losses so far, they are exactly that. UMass -- that was just a weird game. UAB -- a couple of short runs. Creighton -- awful start. Cincy -- little spurt in first half of about 2 minutes and one about the same in the second half. Iowa -- 22-16 lead turns sour last few minutes of first half. So, in my opinion, that's what we have to fix, but the how isn't so bad but it might not be this year. You fix it with: experience, better players and just learning to win. Once our experience catches up to our talent, we could be a decent team down the stretch. And, I hope we find some way to get these kids some games after the Big Ten tournament.

Game Day Essentials: Game #13 vs Iowa Hawkeyes
hhctony replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Iowa City is in Ohio? -
Dimes - I can certainly look at NIT as well. That tournament is just so hard, because of the conference rules that allow champions to take automatic bids if they lose in the tournament. But, we can stab at it. :-)

Does anyone care to see these this year? I think my schedule with work and other duties may allow me to do this again if there is interest. If not, no big deal. Let me know here and I'd probably start on Monday, the 6th.

KenPom 2013-2014 KenPom Rankings Thread
hhctony replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What are you confused about bigred? One thing killing Georgia is opponent winning percentage. That is 1/2 of your RPI. They have only played two teams with a winning record. TWO. And, they are 4-4. Add in a home loss and you have a disaster of an RPI. -

Here is why Lunardi is wrong: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/teamId/158 He has our games in the tournament in Charleston at "road" games when they'll be classified as neutral in the RPI. I generally take Jerry Palm's RPI as the gospel and you can get that at cbssports.com.
