I'll say that equally important to his scoring is his improved ability to find teammates for open looks. He's improved a great deal in that aspect and isn't just a guy looking to "get his".

You're quicker to dismiss Moos than I am. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he said it off the record. Dude appears to be looking for reasons to make a change.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one. My Creighton buddies and their group chats love nothing more than bashing on the Huskers and making fun of the fans. Not that it’s a big deal or different than other fan bases, including Nebraska’s. If I were being cynical, I’d say your response and implying Creighton fans are above such nonsense is an example of the attitude exuding from their fan base. They aren’t just better than the Huskers at basketball, they are morally superior.

Thanks for posting. I don’t think most people would have any problem with you supporting Creighton, especially since you’re an alum. I have several friends that are the same and I respect that. The people I have issues with are the rude Creighton fans (I’ve had multiple personal experiences) and the fair weather fans that stopped rooting for Nebraska because they were bad and started rooting for Creighton because they’re good. Now those same people like to bash on the Huskers for “sucking” when a few years ago they were cheering for them. Those are the fans I take issue with. One we thing I’ll disagree with you on - the Creighton fans love bashing on the “tractor driving, corn growing hicks”. To imply that only Nebraska fans are making fun of Creighton is inaccurate from my personal experience. It goes both ways. As for why I can’t support Creighton, it’s because of the bad experiences I’ve had with their fan base. Add in the ignorant comments they used to throw around when they were in the Valley “we would be in the top 2-3 teams in the Big 12”, “the competition level in the Valley is as tough as the Big 12” and after a while it just gets old and then everything about the team becomes irritating. I’ve spent time with Coach McDermott and he’s a first class, standup guy. I don’t really believe the whole pay for players thing with him. That said, I still can’t bring myself to root for them or not generally dislike the team.

Three quick observations: Tanner was HUGE last night. Great minutes, great effort. Best part from JPJ was his unselfishness - he was driving to the hole and looking not just to score, but to dish. He also seems to have gotten the message from Miles about taking better shots Love the rebounding and overall play from Nana. Dude has serious springs and used them to rebound last night. Keep that up and he will earn more minutes.

Yes, repeatedly. Look, I'm as down this morning as anyone about the game last night. I saw things I hoped we wouldn't see this year. That said, I'm hoping it was a bad night combined with a really good night by Tech. They were locked in, played the best defense I've seen in a long time and played great fundamental basketball on offense (good picks, hard cuts, etc.). Hopefully the guys learn from it and come out stronger for it. If not, maybe Beard would like to move to Lincoln next year...

Totally agree HB. Just because he didn't sign a big doesn't mean he didn't try. We already have Brady (who probably should redshirt) so it's not like you really want to go out and get another project. With the core of the roster returning, and from all accounts really good team chemistry, you would need to be sure the risk of bringing in someone new would be worth it. The number of grad transfer/juco guys out there that fit that need is likely very small. I don't love the impact on our depth down low but I don't think this is going to be much more than a blip and will definitely reinforce the use of our "death lineup".

It's a good point and one I keep trying to convince myself is true. However, for a guy that said "I always have a list" when he started, it's pretty disappointing that it was evidently only a football list. At best the 1 year extension is like a guy that has a girlfriend but keeps looking for a hotter date for prom. I would have been fine with firing him or extending him 2 years to at least give the illusion he's the guy but this is a farce. Shows that we are all talk when it comes to basketball. The only thing it sets us up for is a few more years of excuses for Miles or whatever coach is silly enough to come here.

Well Hank, after the debacle on the basketball front yesterday, I give you exhibit A for why we won’t be more competitive in basketball and despite your talk, we are clearly just a football school. Whether you’re a Miles supporter or not, the tepid actions by the administration show one thing; they don’t have the same commitment to basketball as football. IMO, the one year extension was a joke. It did nothing to help anyone other than possibly showing Miles just enough love that you hope he sticks around if you can’t find someone better next year. It clearly sends the message he’s on the hot seat, doesn’t help in recruiting players or hiring a new assistant coach. It provides a litany of possible excuses for next year and the following years. It also damages future recruiting classes and all but assures that we have some bad years coming up. They should have either extended him to have a total of 4 or 5 years on his deal or done nothing. Either would have done more for the program than what they did. The fact Bounds had an interview on the same day saying he expects championships is a joke. You don’t build championship programs this way. There is no way they would ever do this to the football program. Can you imagine a football coach had under 4 years on his deal here? I can’t. The actions of our AD on basketball make me realize what they think of basketball and as a die hard, long time fan, it makes he both angry and sad.

Rumor I’ve heard is there been a two year contact extension offered but Miles wants a longer deal. Not from an inside source, just a rumor I heard.
