HHCC Game #14 - vs. Ohio State (Jan. 2, 7:00 PM CST)

Nebraska 66 Ohio State 72 -
Too many silly mistakes by Verge. He made it up for it with nice passing. I felt like Hummel said, that Bryce's effort on the defensive end was better late in the 1st half. The problem is he is not fundamentally sound on that end. He plays too upright. This will lead to too many blow by's My biggest worry with him is he had 2 awful 27 foot 3 pointers that went in. Kind of scares me. The biggest question I have is was Fred's pulling of players because we were playing Kennesaw State or do we continue sitting players when they take poor shots during the Big 10 season. I really hope continues until they have the message driven into their heads.

Imagine that, take good shots, and the ball goes in the hoop. Who would've guessed? -

Seems like Fred's approach might be working tonight. If you make a lazy pass, you get benched. If you take a bad shot, you get benched. If your lazy on defense, you get benched. The bad news is that they don't get benched for very long because the replacement is bound to make a mistake. -

We might just be winless if we would had to replay all the teams we beat, so far this year. This team is BAD!! And, this is coming from a somewhat optimist. -

This team is brutal, right now. Lazy defense, lazy passes, just plain laziness. -

Maybe it's my old man syndrome, but if I was an NFL GM, I might skip these players if they opt out. That's probably why I am not an NFL GM.

Time Machine: thoughts on this hypothetical lineup
brfrad replied to aphilso1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Bryce would probably be Palmer or Petteway. Leaning towards Palmer. Palmer was a slightly worse shooter. I think this is a better off season discussion. We have no idea how our season is going to go. Maybe, we figure it out and get 7 conference wins. I will say my confidence is much higher in today's team over that collection of starting 5. -
N C State just took Purdue to OT. One can hope our lack of effort the last 2 games was due to the illness going through the team. Hopefully, a week of rest will get everyone going and we can salvage this season.

# 1 priority on our list is learning how to play defense. We can't give up 100 points a game, and expect to win. Bryce and Verge do not get into proper position. They play too up and down. #2 priority is making 3's. In order to do that, we have to take better shots. Roster management needs improving. We need a Glynn Watson point guard. Someone that takes care of the ball, distribute, and can hit shots. I think that would help with our shot selection. My expectation for this year, was to avoid opening day at the Big 10 tournament. I don't see that happening barring a crazy turnaround. We will find out next Sunday what this team is made of.

CJ, Lat, Kobe Keisei, Andre, Walker could be added to the list. Might as well add everyone who has played tonight. -

Might as well shoot ourselves out of it. Down 31. What's the worst that can happen? -

His guy probably has 50 tonight for Michigan. To say he has no interest in playing defense is an understatement. -

Yes. That it is. I think me taking the blame will get this turned around.
