  1. We are now 11 - 10 against the spread. Another 1 point victory against the spread. We are 6 - 4 in conference against the spread. We have that going for us.
  2. I would say the 2017-18 team. Our last solid PG in Watson. Right now, we have no PG. And, haven't had a true leader since Watson.
  3. This one felt more like what the stats are showing. This was probably our best effort on the glass, outside of the time we needed a rebound.
  4. We were + 5 on offensive rebounds. We had 13 and Rutgers had 8. We tied in 2nd chance points with 14. I think the game was lost in taking care of the basketball and free throw shooting.
  5. I know it maybe just me. We had the lead the whole game until 1:30 left. I never felt we were going to win the game. I'm sure the team felt the same way. It was much like watching the Iowa football game. How are we going to lose this one? Well, that's how. An offensive rebound and put back. Then, we turn it over. We have a chance to tie it with 1 second left. Just need to hit 3 free throws. Guess what, the pressure is too much for this team. I bet Webster is practicing free throws. Just like Lat after the Ohio State game. It's a little too late.
  6. Who doesn't see progress? 3 weeks ago we lost by 28 points to this same team. Now, we only lose by 2. Putting lipstick on a pig!!!
  7. Our defense is keeping us in the game. Haven't been able to say that for awhile.
  8. Iowa still has 2 games against our defense.
  9. Silver lining. Bryce's last 3 helped us cover. If you bet Nebraska +9 be sure to send Bryce a big thank you.
  10. He was listed as being from Kansas, IIRC. I just went through the top players from Nebraska.
  11. Creighton has one recruit for 2022 from Nebraska. Their last Nebraskan was 2015 with Patton. Nebraska's had 2. Here is where the top players from Nebraska went since 2017 2017 West Virginia Wichita State 2018 San Diego State Nebraska 2019 Nebraska Oregon 2020 Stanford Oklahoma State (committed to Nebraska before coaching change) 2021 Gonzaga Wisconsin Old Dominion 2022 Virginia Creighton
  12. We just need to press the entire game. Screw it. Try to wear out the other team. What's the worst that can happen? We lose a game?
  13. I'm torn. I want to move up in the standings. However, I really want to have faith in this team. Rutgers 73 Nebraska 68
  14. No worries. My jaw might have hit the floor when I saw the box score said 7.
  15. The box score said they only had 7 2nd chance points. It seemed like a bunch more. Going by the box score, the difference in the game was : Points in the paint : -4 Fastbreak points : -5 I think the turning point was when we cut the lead to single digits, and Wisconsin stole the ball on 2 straight possessions and had a jam and a lay-up to extend the lead. Pretty much ended any hope of a comeback. Bryce seemed to go back to his poor shot selection and hero ball. We played well the first 15 minutes. The next 15 minutes we played poor basketball. We played alright for the final 10 minutes. Is it too hard to ask the team to play a full 40 minutes? It's not hard to set the 3 point record when you've played for 10 years. And, finally how did Nebraska receive a flop warning, and Wisconsin did not?
  16. Wisconsin 75 Nebraska 64 9 assists
  17. I'm thinking 3 things. A PG, a big, and a 3 and d player on the wing. Here's the type of players. Watson, Maric, and a better shooting Roby is where I lwould start.
  18. We just could not get over the hump. The 2nd half we were no closer than 4, but Indiana was never ahead by more than 10. It seemed like every time we got close, we would give up a basket. We would turnover the ball. Verge played well until 2 minutes to go, and then went into hero ball. Saturday is not going to be pretty. We've tried everything on defense. We've doubled the post against OSU. We've tried singling up on everyone else. We've tried playing zone. Indiana shot 54 % for the game. We had no answer for the big men in the middle. I still have hope we can win a few games down the stretch. I do agree with Fred, that we need to win a close game. Now, Fred has to figure this out, and work on it during practice, so that we are in the best position to win.
  19. OSU 87 Nebraska 59 Number of assists 14 Number of players with assists 5
  20. We better put faith in Fred right now. He is not going anywhere for at least 3 years, barring Trev doing the impossible. Getting Fred to agree to a reworked contract. Again, I am going to beat this drum. We need experience in the program. We have 1 3rd year player (Walker). We have 4 2nd year players (Lat, Trey, Kobe, and Andre) We have 5 1st year players (Verge, Bryce, Wilhelm, Wilcher, and Keisei) Out of all those players we hopefully can keep 5 of them. That means we most likely are going to have 5 1st year players again, barring another miracle. How can it be so hard to keep players? Fans got on Miles for losing players. Fred is telling Miles to hold his NyQuil. Look at Fred's roster turnover 1st year 2 players from Miles' final year (Burke and Thor) 2nd year 5 players returned (Walker, Thor, Stevenson, Yvan, and Banton) 3rd year 5 players returned (Walker, Lat, Trey, Kobe, and Andre)
  21. Pros and cons of each player Verge Pros: Can get to the rim and score. Also, when he's engaged can run the offense and distribute the ball. Cons : Lazy on defense. Will pout when he thinks he's fouled. Not always engaged. Tries to do too much when the going gets tough. Bryce Pros: one of the best players in the conference getting to the rim. One of the best wings in conference on getting to the foul line Cons: Really lazy on defense. Plays straight up and down allowing his man to blow by him. Shot selection. (this has gotten better since the tough love game against Kennesaw State) Walker Pros: Gives great effort on the defensive end. Deserves a Purple Heart for the battles he goes through against the top big men in the country. Really good on offense around the basket. Cons: Honestly, the only one is something he can't change. His lack of size. Keisei Pros: Great shooter. Brings energy to the team Cons: Not very athletic. Shot selection. Size. Lat Pros: Honestly can't think of one Cons: Everything. I really don't want to bag on a player, but it's rough watching him play. Kobe Pros: Settles team down. Good looking shot. Distributes the ball Cons: Turnover prone. Shot selection. Decision making at times can be bad. Wilcher Pros: Good shooter. Good effort Cons: Not athletic enough. Streaky shooter at times. Andre Pros: Decent effort. Good size. Cons: Hands are awful. Foul prone. While he has good size, not strong enough to battle the Big 10 bigs Lakes Pros: Good shooter Cons: Not athletic at all Trey Pros: Best on ball defender. Can get to the rim. Cons: Poor shooter. Not great ball handler. Wilhelm Pros: Effort. Size. Cons: Foul prone. Shot selection.
  22. I would say we have 6 players that give all out effort a great majority of the time. 3 of them are hurt right now. Keisei, Walker, Trey, Wilhelm, Wilcher, and Lakes.
  23. That's going to be the biggest problem. Bryce seems to be a late 1st round early 2nd round pick. The biggest ?, does he risk injury, and hope to become that lottery pick? Or, does he go to the NBA, start in the G League and get paid while developing. If Bryce goes, Trey is likely out especially with his injury this year. Walker might call it a day after 5 years in school, and get paid good money to play overseas.
  24. Let's compare rosters (rankings based on Sports-reference Purdue Ivey 2nd year 87th ranked player Edey 2nd year Williams 4th year Stefanovic 4th year Newman 3rd year 1 RS Thompson 3rd year Gillis 3rd year 1 RS Fust 1st year 62nd ranked player Morton 2nd year 82nd ranked player Nebraska Bryce 1st year 25th ranked player Verge 1st year Walker 3rd year Redshirt Wilcher 1st year Tominaga 1st year Webster 2nd year Mayan 2nd year Andre 2nd year We need experience in this system Goals for the off season Must keep at all costs players Bryce Walker Wilhelm Trey Can go either way hope they stay to gain some experience Edwards Andre Keisei McPherson Wilcher Needs to go Lat We need to find a defensive system that will get stops on a consistent basis, and we need to find animals on the boards. We went a time during the season where players would get benched if they took a bad shot. We seem to be taking better shots with fewer forced shots. The next step I'd like to see is to start benching players if they fail to box out. The problem lies in that is harder to gauge than seeing a poor shot go up. Defensive effort also needs to be addressed. If you slack on defense, you see the bench. Something's got to make these guys see the light.
