Our defense is reverting back to last year's team. Not good at all today. OU is getting whatever they want. -

Played a good first 10 minutes, and really good for the final 18 minutes. That 12 minute span in between, should not be on any highlight pages. Boxing out is better. Defense played well except for that 12 minute lull. Must needed win. I'm worried this team is good enough to beat the teams they should. I don't know if they are good enough to beat the teams they shouldn't. That beats the alternative of losing to the teams we should beat.

One area I see as improvement is we seem to care about boxing out. Maybe it's just me. -

Arkansas Pine Bluff is not as good when we actually guard the 3 point line. Who would guess? -
Just a rant, don’t know where lose to put this

No chance. I think this Wisconsin loss took everything left out of this team. -
Watching the football game today. We went up 14 - 3, but I thought our chance to win was near zero. We were certain to find a way to lose this game, and lo and behold we did.

Your definition of the worst coach in Div 1 is a coach who led his team to 4 NCAA tournaments, with a Sweet 16 appearance? -

We had 18 offensive rebounds. What's that say about St. John's rebounding? If Sam has 6 points and 8 turnovers, we are going to lose 100 % of the time. The 1st half, refs were not allowing St John's to be physical. In the 2nd half, they allowed them to be super physical. Our defense was also much worse in the 2nd half. On a positive note, the last time we lost by 20 + points to St John's, we went on to finish 4th in the Big 10. -

Good news is our free throw defense is really good. Maine is 2 - 10 from the line. -

Mickey showed how overmatched he is today. He stuck with the worst QB in the Big 10. I thought Spencer Petras was the worst. Chubba makes Spencer look like an All American.

What do you suppose Hoiberg's (unwritten) metric was?
brfrad replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
That's why the decision to fire him after the Ga Southern more understandable. Losing to GA Southern is unacceptable. Gives you a reason to cut ties. Not firing him runs you the risk of Frost getting to 6 wins. That could cost you 9 million (not sure on how many years he had left. I thought 4. Plus his extra year of 5 million). The metrics did not mean Frost gets to keep his job. It just means we are on the hook for a bigger buyout if he gets to that metric. Same goes for Hoiberg. Only, his metric might be a postseason berth. We could miss out, but show improvement to keep Hoiberg. Just because he misses the metric doesn't mean he is automatically fired. To the original ? I say it is make the postseason. NIT or NCAA. -
If you would have asked me when Frost was fired, no. Now, I am getting very intrigued. We went toe to toe with the favorites in the West. Get a few breaks, maybe a hold on 15 for Purdue on 4th and 1, we legitimately have a chance to win.

If I'm Mickey on the bye week, all players are fighting for their jobs. It's a clean slate. Next Monday, the depth chart comes out with how well you practiced this week, along with your effort. We were due for a clunker, and boy did we get one.

While the defense isn't going to turn into the 2009 Nebraska team. I feel they can improve enough to be serviceable this year. I am not super knowledgeable in defense matters. However, on at least 2 long runs. I saw a LB run into the back of a DL, not very good alignment. Fix that, and focus on tackling in practice, that will improve the defense.

I heard there was a school who promoted their WR coach to interm head coach. Then, kept him and are now a perennial power.

Josh Heupel took over for Frost at UCF. Had a couple good years and a couple decent year. Now, he's at Tennessee. Got them to a bowl game, and now they are 15th in the country. I don't understand why it didn't work for Frost.
