There was no reason to leave him in the game. I was just listening to the game, and knew he was rattled. Why, with the bases loaded do you worry about the runner on 1st?

Michigan was also 14 - 9 at one point. They are dominated by upperclassmen. Walton, Donnal, Robinson, and Irvin are seniors. Abdul-Rakman and Wilson are juniors. We have to get better at defending the 3 point line. If we don't, we are not going to win. Teams shot 39.9 % against us from 3. That can't happen. Even Michigan found that out. They were dead last after 23 games defending the 3. They allowed teams to shoot 41.2% during that time. After that point, they are 11-2, actually now 12-2. Going into the Louisville game, in the last 13 games, teams were shooting 32.2% from 3. If defense gets better, we are able to shoot better, we should make the tournament.

Thank goodness!! I had Michigan going to the Final 4.

I think our offense is fine. We avg. 70.6 PPG in conference. Good for 9th in the Big 10. Prior to our tailspin we were shooting 35.6% from 3 in conference games. Our defense has to get better. Just look at Michigan, they were 14-9, allowing teams to shoot 41.2% from 3. Since then, they are 11-2, and teams are shooting 32.2% from 3.

Wow, that call cost Northwestern 4 points. Still, you can't on the court.

Our rotation is coming around. Friday starter: Hohensee (1 - 2, 2.33 ERA) Saturday starter: Burkamper (0 - 2, 3.78 ERA) Hopefully 1 - 2 after today Sunday starter: Meyers (2 - 1, 2.08) Midweek/reliever: Matt Waldron, a Saturday starter last year (1 - 2, 4.12) Solid bullpen with McSteen, Waldron, Luensmann, Alvarado, and Palkert. I would like to see Hood take over the 2nd midweek starter spot, if we need one.

This is the team I thought we'd see this year. Good starting pitching, get enough runs to win games, good defense. It's a good recipe to win games. It seemed like last year we had two of the three most of the time. We'd have good pitching and defense, but couldn't score. We'd score enough runs, have good starting pitching, but defense would let us down. We'd have enough runs and defense, but pitching wouldn't hold up. Our last 3 games, our starters Meyers (W) 9 IP 5 H 0 R 1 BB 4 SO Hohensee (W) 6 2/3 IP 4 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 4 SO Burkamper * thru 6 Inn 6 IP 1 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 5 SO 3 - 0 if we can hold on, 21 2/3 IP 10 H 2 R 2 ER 7 BB 13 SO; 0.83 ERA

Hopefully, they go the final 4. That's where I have them going. Which means they will probably lose in the 2nd round.

Michigan is 15 - 27 from 3. Molinari is coaching for Okie State?

Someone once said, "there's no such thing as bad publicity."

How can anyone play with Wagner? Everytime I watch him make a mistake, he is yelling at his teammates.
-
They said the last win for New Mexico State was in 93 against us.
-
He actually wasn't too bad of a minor leaguer. He batted .262 with 4 HR's and 57 RBI's in 103 games in 2 years and rookie and short season ball.

I was unaware that a 16 seed has never beaten a 1 seed!!! I'm glad I watched the Gonzaga and Villanova games otherwise I would have never known that!!

How does Beth Mowins get all these sweet announcing gigs. Her voice makes me want to pop my ear drums so I never have to listen to her again. I had to mute the Minnesota game so I wouldn't have to listen to her.

Your post didn't say, early on, he struck out on high school recruits.

Actually, for the most part, I enjoy Sam's article more than Dirk's. He does a better job not making you think you know nothing about sports. I do remember hearing Miles going to KC to get Shields and Benny to come to Lincoln.

2012 Shields (solid. T-5th all time in scoring) Parker (role player) Vucetic (not very good. Reach) 1/3 contributing is probably about the national average. 2013 Webster (2nd team All Big 10 his senior year) Fuller (role player) Hawkins (has not turned into the player we thought) Another 1/3 2014 T Smith (pretty solid year for Duquense.) Hammond (recruited for size. Couldn't find his way on the court) Bad year. 0/2 2015 Evelyn (transferred after 1 year. Reach) Watson (solid contributions in his 1st 2 years) Morrow (injuries, but solid contributions in 1st 2 years) Jacobson (role player) McVeigh (role player) 2/5 will probably be solid players 2016 Roby (limited time as a freshmen. Poised to have a solid career) Jordy (showed flashes. Could be one of the better high schoolers, Miles recruited) Horne (showed flashes. Wish he would have stayed) Jury still out. Hopefully finish with 2/3 solid players. 4/13 turned into really good players. 4/13 turned into role players. 5/13 transferred I don't have time or energy to go through every school, but I'm going to guess most schools like us, would show similar results with regards to high school players.

Our Freshmen last year (conference games) Jordy 13.7 MPG Horne 14.5 MPG Roby 16.7 MPG

It'd be intriguing. They are losing 2 seniors who were their leading scorers. I could see them being a La Tech type team. Someone, you can beat, but should not be an RPI killer, if you scheduled them.
-
Here's an item you don't seem to post. Our sophomores' numbers were against one of the nation's toughest schedules. Playing non conference games against Dayton, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Kansas, and Creighton probably are going to have some effect on numbers. Our team has talent. Most of the Big 10 teams have talent, also. You are forgetting Copeland, who will be a Junior, if he gets his medical hardship. He avg. 11.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.6 TOPG, shot 42.9% from the floor, 77.2 % from the free throw line as a sophomore for Georgetown.

If the Pac 12 has a bad year, my bracket is toast.

Yes, I agree our facilities are going to wear off. It saved Miles' job, to be quite frank. If he had 4/5 losing seasons in the Devaney, fans are not coming to the games. If fans don't come to the games, the coach is not going to be there, any longer. However, if we are going to the NCAA tournament consistently, with some trips to the NIT, and maybe an occasional losing season, people will still come to the games. That's why when people claimed Moe did not play a style for fan entertainment, I laugh at them. It wouldn't have mattered if they were going to the tournament most years.

I just hope next year we are watching the selection show to see where we are going to play our NCAA tournament game. C'mon Tim and team, let's make that happen.
