We need to get this game. A great chance for a championship, but we need to win. Battle of bullpens should favor us.
-
Jinxed him.
-
Hohensee has settled down and retired 10 in a row.
-
That strike on Schlep was terrible. The pitch was outside. Then, he waits until Luis is standing up on 2nd to call him out.
-
Another way to look at it is they have to play 5 games this week, while we play 3.
-
Minny would have a winning pct of .739. We would have a winning pct of .729. We need them to lose a game against Rutgers or Purdue to claim the title.
-
This game is going to get away from them. We couldn't score if we started the inning with a runner on 3rd base. Now, Burkamper seems to be getting rattled.
-
It sounds like this home plate ump is not very good. Hohensee had runners picked off last night at first, and he called them safe. Now, today, questionable calls at home plate.
-
I heard it last night, too. I was kind of curious. They said that they thought he was available to pitch, on Sunday. If he can't grip the bat, he's not going to be able to grip a baseball, but I'm not a doctor.
-
If he can't grip a bat, how's he going to grip a baseball, tomorrow?
-
Anytime an Erstad team faces pressure, they choke. The regionals have been that way, and now you control your own destiny, and you play like dog turds.
-
I swear, sometimes they just flip a coin in the dugout. Why do you bring in Hood in the 9th? He walked the leadoff guy and you bring in Luensmann.
-
This was a must win game and we are crapping the bed big time. Now, we face an uphill climb if we can't win this game. We have Derek, who has pitched better the last two times out, but has been inconsistent, and Meyers, who has an injured hand. That doesn't bode well for us.
-
He shouldn't have tried to go to 2nd after he went halfway. By the time he got back to the bag to tag, he had no chance to make it to 2nd.
-
Nebraska leads 1-0 after 3. Need to get a few more runs. Frazier pitching well tonight. 21 pitches in 3 innings.
-
I've been known to 2nd guess Erstad, and again today, thought him and Silva left Meyers in too long. It worked out thanks to a blunder by the Rutgers coach. There was NO way I pitch to Luis with MOJO on deck and 1st base open. That is why I love baseball so much. It is easily the best sport to think you know it all. If a manager does one thing, and you would do something different, and it doesn't work for the manager, you can pretend you are smart.

Any curfew, today?

Bo had his pros and cons. Some pros, players loved playing for him. He always won 9 or 10 games. He was 0:01 away from beating Texas and winning a Big 12 title in his 2nd year, he also had one of the top defenses in the country that year. He helped make Suh a lot of money in the NFL. A bunch of cons. He always found a way to lose 4 games, most of the time he had no business losing those 4 games. He didn't adapt to the Big 10 with his defensive style. He didn't hire quality assistant coaches. A good head coach gets assistant coaches who could take over his job. Papuchis had no business being a Big 10 defensive coordinator. Beck had no business being a Big 10 offensive coordinator. He also had inconsistency in recruiting. He would have a top 15 recruiting class, but would follow it up with a class outside the top 35. He would then get another top 20 class, followed by a poor class. I think Riley has shown he is going to get rid of coaches who might be his buddies, if they aren't doing their jobs. He fills them in with excellent replacements. He is recruiting very well, just need to be consistent.

Rutgers (17-25) Vs. Nebraska ( 26-16-1) Game Thread
brfrad replied to Bugeaters1's topic in Other Huskers Sports
I think Alvardo should be in right and Hagge in left. I don't fault Erstad for that. I think Alvarado is more comfortable in left. However, you should want your best arm in right. Hagge can catch a bunch of balls, but has no arm. Alvarado seems to make balls an adventure, but has a cannon. -

One of my worries about Erstad. He seems to not know when to take pitchers out. It could have went just as bad, but I thought they should have taken Jake out after the double off Alvarado's glove. -

Am I the only one who thought it was a balk on Schlepenbach's pick-off? It looked for the life of me that he stepped to the plate before throwing over to first. -
2017 Transfer Tre'Shawn Thurman -> Nevada
brfrad replied to TourneyBound's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
IIRC, I read the article in the OWH, saying he was transferring because he didn't want to play inside anymoe. We don't have a spot if he wants to play outside. -
Nice win. 3 home runs accounted for 9 runs. Good pitching. It would be huge if we can go to Columbus and get a sweep. Ohio State is not a very good team, but if you find that one pitcher that shuts us down, we could lose. I think our goal should be a conference championship. Kind of disappointed we didn't win one in our first 5 years.

I know this may seem like a crazy idea. I would give Burkamper an inning to try to right the ship. He has struggled the last 3 outings. He is 0 - 2 with a 7.94 ERA. He has avg. under 4 innings a start in that time.
-
He was very over due.
