What you have described here is Fred's recruiting strategy, and likely that of a lot of other schools. Use the portal to bring in guys with 2-3yrs to play who still show promise to get better but where already proven contributors. This strategy thus far has been successfully with the exception of Ulis. GG still has 2 years and thus I'm not going to write him off just yet. Get a couple of HS kids that you really like who are willing to be patient and develop. While CJ is just a walkon this strategy shows it can work. Will be interesting to see where BF and NJ fit in next year as RS Freshman. Get 1 year guys to fill the gap as bench players. This has shown mixed results. I think HCFH knew what he was getting with BM and AM. Minutes role player guys. RW was a disappointment. The toughest part for next year is going to be replacing BW and JG. Unless there is a hiddent gem out there that is going to have to be done in the aggregate.

Creighton way overpaid for him. He's not worth $2.5mil.

Pryce will have some serious coaching whiplash.

For the time being, but I believe that will change. Saw an article this morning from The Athletic: "A California judge's preliminary approval of a multi-billion-dollar settlement could allow universities to pay athletes directly. This landmark decision may end the long-standing amateurism model in college sports, paving the way for revenue sharing and back-pay damages for athletes. As schools prepare for these changes, the implications for college athletics are profound."

Congrats to BW on the single season scoring record. That hug between BW and JG will be a long time HBB memory of mine. We are really going to miss those two -
Moneyball, Husker basketball version.

I quit sports radio except for after the games. Prefer listening to podcasts and music.

Is there anyway to know if this is true? I've never thought about it before. If the team makes a post-season tournament players wil receive a bonus for playing. Might convince some kids from opting out of the post-season or jumping to the portal right away. -

You're not wrong to be optimistic. In the era of the trasfer portal fortunes can be quickly turned around. We need to get very active in the portal right now and decline any post season tournaments we get invited to. -

Sure, that's why I've been posting on this board since it's inception. That's why after his 3rd year as the head coach I wanted him fired. You made a statement that I completely disagree with and your response is... Trust me Bro. Get back to me with any shred of evidence you have to back up your statement. FTR, I wish your statement was true. -

Are you sure about that? Have any evidence? Which coaches out there have 3 year or less contracts that aren't on the hot seat? How are those teams doing? -

Fred is not going to leave $$ on the table...period. He certainly won't take a negotiated buyout now, not with his son still on thet team. Maybe after his son graduates, maybe. Going to have to extend his contract at least through the '29-'30 season for any hopes to be mildly competitive next season. -

Fred will not retire. He'd be leaving to much $$ on the table. -
FH mentioned this during hhis post game interview with KP.

Happy for JL, but I’m good with RW. Something to be said for chemistry. -

I think it’s a mistake to compare this year to last year. While we are turning the ball over more, we are also getting more turnovers. We are much better rebounding and defensive team. We are an extremely deep team. We have 3 potential volume scorers. I’m not concerned with RW. We are better with him on the court. SH has taken a diminished role, however his impact coming off the bench is noticeable. We all know what he brings to the table and it’s all good. Interesting CE low production against UH, even though he played 20 min. Didn’t even notice him. Need to find ways to get him involved in the offense. AM needs to be more consistent. -

I was really worried coming into the season if JG and BW were going to have to carry this team on their back. SH coming off the bench as an after thought. Current NET is 33 before this game. -
With that being the case then we for sure need at least 2 bigs.

As someone who doesn't follow recruiting very closely this is some good info. I have big concerns about Ulis eligibility. Our luck is that when these sorts of issues drag out related eligibility the less likely it is to work in our favor. Does anyone have a timeline for a decision? Just based on what we have now it looks like we only have one more open starter/rotation slot and that needs to be a big. Even w/o Ulis we are still stocked at Guard. With HCFH propensity to run 3 guards I have high hopes for Jano to break into the lineup in that 8th spot. The only things we know for sure are that BW and RM will be starters. JG will begin the season as a starter. This roster, right now, has a lot of flexibility and more athleticism. We didn't lose a single guy to the portal that I was disappointed to lose. While losing that many guys does look bad; to me it was more like a control burn.

100%. This was very obvious watching our last 2 games. This is the evolution and I'm very pleased.

Someone said we need a replacement for KT…

We need to run it back. What ratchet ups the pressure is when it is so long between appearances. The core of this group in Mast, Gary, and Williams will be back add to that Lawerence and a more experienced Rice and Diop. Now just need a few pieces
