  1. Every single bracket in the Top 10 right now picked Michigan to make the Final Four. Who would've known that would be the secret sauce this season? I know the selection committee didn't.
  2. I'm not as interested in how many years Moos extends Miles' contract as I am in seeing how he negotiates the terms of the contract that fit the right incentives to align with what he defines as "success." That gives me much more insight into him as an effective AD right now than anything else.
  3. B...1...G! B...1...G! B...1...G!
  4. FWIW, the NIT Championship between Penn State and Utah starts in a few minutes on ESPN2.
  5. Wait, I'm confused... why does Miles need an extension pole? Hasn't he had a pole that has worked for the last six years? Is it on the end of its life? What has he done with it in the last six years that should justify that he should get an extension pole? Did he hire the right assistants to get the job done? Was his pole given enough time to show results? Are there better poles out there than just giving him an extension pole? These are all questions I want answered!!
  6. He definitely handled it well and seems like a very mature adult about the whole thing. And out of all of that he found a way to still make it a fun and memorable experience.
  7. They're waiting to report how long Altman, Lue, and Hoiberg signed their assistant coaching contracts at Nebraska first.
  8. There are a few dozen people in central Pennsylvania who care. And maybe Pat Chambers' barber. What's going to be the over/under for how many times they mention or show Flavor Flav during the NIT Championship?
  9. I haven't gotten around to listening to it yet, but here's McVeigh's latest podcast episode where he talks about.his decision to move on: http://feeds.soundcloud.com/stream/421214622-jemcveigh9-the-jack-mctrey-podcast-ep5.m4a
  10. I do find it a little funny that the worst 2 power conferences are represented in the NIT championship. Is that because the #7 Big Ten team is better than the deep #10 ACC, #7 Big East, or #8 SEC teams?
  11. ...it's a very tiny seat.
  12. Is anybody else on the edge of their seats for this NIT Final Four?
  13. As a short term solution it has put us in a much better spot than where we would have been. But it puts a lot of reliance on getting the right guys who can quickly adapt to a new system, not hinder the culture of the team, and can make an immediate impact. That is a scary balancing act to do year-in and year-out. But for the long term, I just fear that if we can't balance building and sustaining a system in-house (and yes, utilizing transfers as needed), then we may have some internal programmatic things we have to get sorted out.
  14. I sure hope he has a better 5-year plan than just relying on transfers from here on out.
  15. This isn't completely up-to-date, but here's an aggregate view of the coaching landscape right now: http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/22908457/college-basketball-coaching-carousel-which-head-coaches-coming-20178
  16. Agreed. I still think that had we been under last year's system, we may have been selected into the field. Since the committee didn't place more value on late season performance, road wins meant more than just beating good opponents, and conference performance still had a small part in a decision, we just didn't have a fighting chance this year.
  17. What? Everything you say in public is fact. Or at least that's what we thought the selection committee was telling us, but it turns out their selection criteria had nothing to do with what they released earlier on to the public.
  18. Kansas State went 4-9 in Quadrant 1 going into the tournament with an RPI of 53. Nebraska: 1-6 with an RPI of 56. Sadly, the committee put all their value in categories we didn't excel in. That, and a little bad luck with the Big Ten/RPI logic not providing us with 13 Quad 1 opportunities and instead we ended up with 7.
  19. I guess I don't follow the logic. I'm sure many of us have taken business trips in the final weeks of our employment before.
  20. (Immediately visits https://twitter.com/GBRosenthal to confirm...)
  21. Sooooo........when does he start?
  22. You meant Sunday April 1st at 2:30, right?
  23. Here's an interesting look at Power 6 performance: Power 6 Conference games: 1. Big Ten: 8-3 (73%) 2. Big 12: 12-6 (67%) 3. Big East: 7-5 (58%) 4. ACC: 12-9 (57%) 5. SEC: 8-8 (50%) 6. Pac-12: 0-3 (0%) If you look at only the Power 6 vs. Power 6 matchups (i.e. "P6/P6 Challenge"), here's what we get: 1. Big 12: 7-3 (70%) 2. Big Ten: 3-2 (60%) 3. ACC: 7-7 (50%) 4. Big East: 5-5 (50%) 5. SEC: 3-7 (30%) 6. Pac-12: 0-1 (0%)
