  1. This "Seton Hall '17 Alum" isn't having it. Seems they think they're a Sweet Sixteen team next year:
  2. It's really sad when my first thought was "Will this be a Quadrant 2 or Quadrant 3 game?"
  3. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was on a Creighton message board right now.
  4. Since we're on a message board focused on a particular sports team, I figured I might as well post it. The Supreme Court overruled its stance on sports betting and it will allow states to decide what to do about that issue. Whether you're into betting or not, I find this as an interesting result that may affect how sports are viewed. Similar to how fantasy sports leagues have changed the way people have consumed the sport. The NBA was pushing hard the past couple of years on getting in on the sports betting world. And now that this ruling has been made today, the NFL has expressed interest. Does this take the sport(s) back to the Boston College point shaving scandal? Does it increase interest in different fascets of the game (i.e. prop bets)? Does it change anything at all? Just curious to hear people's thoughts on this. https://sports.yahoo.com/supreme-court-ruling-opens-door-legalized-sports-gambling-nationwide-144847733.html
  5. I wonder if Bill Shelf is willing to take the vacant Toronto Raptors in order to avoid any potential NCAA sanctions? (similar to Pete Carroll)
  6. This kind of reminds me of a couple decades ago in basketball when the state of Nebraska had some decent talent, but our program couldn't keep the local kids at home. Then at some point we're pulling straws trying to recruit top-to-bottom outside of our own region. I would almost argue that local talent is even more important in baseball with the larger roster size, geography and weather these players are used to playing in, etc.
  7. If you look at what Frost did with the talent he had at UCF, he didn't have a particularly great QB. But he was able to stretch out the defense with his "accurate enough" arm and legs. Frost is likely looking for that guy who can throw a long pass to an open receiver (not tight coverage) and can throw the midrange passes or run the ball. Then again, in a couple of years I'm sure the talent pool Frost can recruit from will be different than what be had at UCF and his first year at Nebraska.
  8. Never underestimate the damage a strong rooster can do for your team...
  9. Here's the games of interest in order of date/time (CDT): Thursday: 3:05 - MSU vs. OSU (BTN) 6:00 - Nebraska @ Illinois (BTN) 6:00 - Maryland @ Indiana (BTN Plus) Friday: 3:05 - MSU vs. OSU (BTN) 5:05 - Maryland @ Indiana (BTN Plus) 6:00 - Nebraska @ Illinois (BTN Plus) Saturday: 12:05 - MSU vs. OSU (BTN Plus) 1:05 - Maryland @ Indiana (BTN Plus) 3:00 - Nebraska @ Illinois (BTN)
  10. For those of you still holding on to hope, here's how bleak, but not impossible, it may be for Nebraska to make the Big Ten tournament: Nebraska sweeps the series against Illinois (3-0): Michigan State wins no more than 1 game against Rutgers (1-2) AND Maryland wins no more than 1 game against Purdue (1-2) Nebraska wins the series against Illinois (2-1): Nebraska does not make the tournament Nebraska wins one game against Illinois (1-2): Nebraska does not make the tournament Nebraska gets swept by Illinois (0-3): Nebraska does not make the tournament
  11. So there's that...
  12. Considering it's T7 8-3 Indiana, this game becomes even more important:
  13. That's a great strategy. I don't know why we don't do it more often!
  14. We might be hoping for a little voodoo magic against Michigan State and Maryland to squeeze into this one.
  15. If Nebraska wins out (4-0): Iowa or Indiana win no more than 1 more game (1-3), OR Michigan State goes 2-2 or worse AND Maryland wins no more than 3 games If Nebraska goes 3-1: Iowa and Indiana loses out (0-4), OR Michigan State goes 1-3 or worse AND Maryland wins now more than 2 games (2-2) and Rutgers wins no more than 3 games (3-1)
  16. Saturday's Games: Illinois defeated Michigan Indiana defeated Nebraska Maryland trounced Rutgers B7: Northwestern beating Iowa 4-0 T8: Minnesota beating Michigan State 9-5 T8: Purdue beating Ohio State 8-2
  17. Looks like I may have miscalculated the denominator. So here's all the possibilities (at 3-2 or better): Nebraska goes 5-0: OSU or Illinois goes 1-4 Iowa goes 3-2 (not sure on tiebreaker, we went 1-1 in the series, but they have a better overall record) Indiana or MSU goes 3-2 Nebraska goes 4-1: Tiebreakers if OSU goes 0-5, Illinois 0-5, or Iowa 2-3 (Rutgers doesn't go 5-0) Indiana or MSU goes 2-3 Nebraska goes 3-2: Indiana or MSU goes 1-4 (Maryland or Rutgers doesn't go 5-0) Can you verify, @The Polish Rifle?
  18. After looking at the remaining schedule, the margin looks to be far closer to razor thin than I thought. If Nebraska wins out, one of these scenarios would have to transpire in order for us to get that #8 spot: Michigan State finishes out 1-4 Indiana gets swept by Nebraska and goes 2-1 against Maryland (finishes out 2-3) Iowa loses out and finishes 0-6 If Nebraska loses 1 (goes 4-1), one of these scenarios would have to occur: Michigan State loses out (0-5) Indiana loses out (0-5)
  19. New season, new thread. So this didn't last long. Nebraska's Director of Recruiting Operations made it from February to May and now the position is vacant: http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/life-in-the-red/frost-s-director-of-recruiting-operations-takes-job-at-alabama/article_6e7ac756-5569-11e8-8277-fb0db5bbc526.html
  20. Off topic, but is anybody sporting the Starbury shoes anymore?
  21. I'm sure thousands of athletes were chomping at the bit to get Skechers sponsorships...
