Turns out Urban has plans to stick around: Urban Meyer to be an assistant AD at Ohio State after retirement from coaching https://sports.yahoo.com/urban-meyer-assistant-ad-ohio-state-retirement-coaching-025359699.html "As part of his assistant AD duties Meyer will teach a class on character and leadership. He revealed that to a Cleveland TV station this week."

Santa Claus will be delivering some stocking stuffers for everyone on HHC. But don't be alarmed when you see it. Those NyQuil chasers are only to be used on an as-needed basis, which hopefully won't be necessary in 2019.

@Red Don with the perfect score. That now makes 4 perfect predictions by this board in 12 games. Wow! The MLB batting average in 2018 was 0.248, and we're batting 0.333 here! -

Minutes Played by Starting Lineup
HuskerFever replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Oh, I'm not saying that the coaches aren't planning for the opponents well ahead of time. I'm talking about the players having less time to get into the weeds and just take what scouting report they have and go out and play. We've had some rosters seem to be too 'academic' in their approach, and when we started having shorter turnarounds, I feel like the players were a little looser and found ways to make plays in transition. -

We sure did have a good record on short-turnaround games though! Last season I almost preferred we played with short rest (aka "forget the in-depth game plan and just go out and play"). I bet that experience helped our team in the offseason. -
KenPom 2018-2019 KenPom Rankings Thread

Soooo.... basically "win your home games" and try to steal some on the road? -
Sure, but the Big Ten was down this year. And given that many of the P5s are playing much worse than the Big Ten did last season, I'm sure they'll conveniently forget that and still give the SEC 7+ teams.
-
It's certainly much better than scheduling a team like Delaware State. That win hurt us more than ever playing them in the first place.

uneblinstu post game chatter: Vol 11; ed 12
HuskerFever replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You'd think they'd give him more than two seasons, but Illinois isn't exactly a well-oiled AD machine.. The fans also seem to have the same historical memory and high expectations of their basketball program that we have about our football program. -

And while we're at it: 3. Percentage of starter points vs. total points. -
Well... neither of those went our way.

Cal State Fullerton (3-8) vs. Nebraska (9-2) Game Thread
HuskerFever replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I really don't like the way this team has softened up. Really disappointing. The only other time I've seen it this bad was against Texas Tech. We're better than that. -
You might have better luck taking the design to a company to make a patch, then sew it on to a plain hat, then wait for the 100 mile long line of people waiting for you to make one for them. That...or wait 100 years for the Nebraska athletic department to realize how large of a market they're missing out on by neglecting the Nebrasketball culture.

NCAA Tournament History by Seed
HuskerFever replied to HuskerActuary's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
As long as we're not a 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, or 11 seed then we're in good shape. History can't repeat itself if we're a different seed right? -
We've got a game to win on Saturday! That Rhode Island game in 2014 taught us how quickly we could go from being ranked to being tanked.
-
It's supposedly OU's first win in a Big Ten arena since 1970.
-
Northwestern was in a tight match with Oklahoma for the final 10 minutes of the game and are now going to OT.

Arena Porn - if you're into that kind of thing
HuskerFever replied to 49r's topic in College Basketball
The article I read was that a Southern California based company will get the rights to the land and will own the building for 10 years. Taking concession sales, tickets, etc. Then after 10 years the land and building are 100% UT's. My take on that is that even if UT gets first rights at events (I think it said 60 scheduled days?), it's not going to be as autonomous as how PBA works. And the company is banking on making a killing off of those first 10 years, then pass on all the maintenance costs and liabilities.
