To much of my surprise, Altman really hasn't been discussed on here for the past 3-4 weeks. But this may mean that he was in contact with other schools (maybe us?) and Oregon wanted to keep him around. These coaching extension announcements don't usually happen this quickly.

I wonder how much time Wisconsin spent on a game plan for Maryland and how much time the allocated to the possibility of a matchup against Rutgers or Nebraska.

But they made the switch precisely because the RPI was a flawed methodology. That's not to say the NET is an exact science, but it's an improvement over RPI. Yeah I'm certainly not arguing that. Just stating that although timing of the NET came a year late for us last season... it may have come just in time for us this season.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Recency bias is also the same reason why people freak out about shark attacks right after one occurs, even though the data shows that the frequency of attacks hasn't gone up. I've got my own opinion. But as I mentioned in another thread, I'm throwing that all out the door for now and just appreciating this tournament for what it is. And it's been so fun to watch this team gut it out so far!

That may be true, but only because they switched to NET as our ranking methodology. We would be far out of the conversation if it was still based on RPI.

We can rationalize it any way we want and focus on the metrics that make us look good. It didn't work out for us last season. There's plenty of metrics that put us out of the tournament barring winning the Big Ten Tournament. That said, we just need to keep winning.
