  1. The guy I am interested in is the freshman from Burke (name escapes me). But I have heard that he has made it clear he REALLY likes Miles and the NU team. And if things ended today (which obviously a TON could change) he would come to NU. Now, thats just what I have heard and this is a way off, but I heard this kid can play.
  2. Was happy to see them at least compete in the 2nd half and make some shots. That 1st half was just painful. Layups, layups, layups. Had we made 3-4 of those in the 1st half we were in that thing. Can't score 16 points in a half and expect to do well. I knew this would be a tough test on the road. UTEP a much better team now with Tucker back (had 19 points tonight). Couldn't he have missed 1 more week????
  3. I don't get how you score 89 and then do this? I bet NU missed 7-8 shots within 2 feet! Then to watch UTEP hit 4 shots as the shot clock expired didn't help matters. What a brutal, brutal half! Man, if they could have somehow just kept it close you have to think we would play better. Hope to see some fight in this team this half.
  4. I paid for this?????? 13 freaking 0!
  5. I paid the 9.95 also and watching the game....Hoping we play well.
  6. Overall, very happy we got the win and shot the heck out of the ball. If we cut back on fouls and turnovers we win this thing by 30+. Offensively when we didn't turn it over sounded like we were getting whatever we wanted. Tomorrow will be very tough assuming we have UTEP. They just beat Oregon and are playing very well. They started slow this year, but 2 starters just last week rejoined the team.
  7. We score 80, and NOBODY gets to see it unless you at the game. 4 guys in double digits as well.
  8. This has to be the most frustrating 10 point lead I've ever heard! WE should be up 20 easy. 11 turnovers and they have been to the line 18 damn times! You HAVE to take advantage of shooting that well and frankly we didn't. Ok, we can do this. Clean up the turnovers and keep pounding the ball inside. Very disappointed in the end of the half.
  9. Not to be Mr. negative here....but man, if we can just control the ball, we would be up 23-24 points. We shooting great but have 8 turnovers and 8 fouls. Gotta build this lead and kick this team while we are hot.
  10. Good to see Shields getting some buckets....well, not good to SEE, but good to HEAR. If we don't turn it over, we seem to be getting what we want on offense.
  11. Do any of you get tired of the jabs he throws at NU all the time? Maybe I read into it too much, but I swear whether on the radio or writing an article he always has to make a jab at NU hoops. Look, we all know they aren't going to have much success this year, but man for whatever reason that guy just gets under my skin. Can he NEVER write an article without throwing in his $0.02 about how bad NU is? Like in today's article about Groce and Illinois he starts it out by saying its still about even money that NU will end in the cellar. Why not just write the damn article about Illinois? Again, maybe I'm too sensitive about it, but it just bugs the hell out of me. Pivovar on the other hand for CU will ALWAYS make CU look/sound great no matter who they are playing. He spins it so that their opponents usually seem to be decent teams. When NU beats another team Lee always seems to have to say "Well, they are picked at the bottom of their league" or whtever.....can he not just write the article? I didn't know his "stories" were opinion based. I thought he was just covering the games? And half the time I don't think he even goes to the games (whether his choice or OWH) because usually his quotes come directly from the post game show.... Ok, rant over. Sorry.
  12. After listening to Miles talk after the game last night I get the impression he isn't looking for bigs that are going to dominate on the block. I think he wants long, athletic wings, forwards. He wants to run a 4 out, 1 in type set with 4 shooters around the perimeter He made a comment that his biggest guy at CSU that played many minutes was 6'7. I think he likes Attewe's upside and what he can do with running the floor, guarding other teams bigs and being kind of a combo forward/center type player.
  13. They haven't been that great this year but I hadn't realized that Tim Floyd is the coach down there these days. Keno Davis is coaching Central Michigan. The winning coach potentially receives a sombrero UTEP hasn't been great, but they just last week got 2 starters back from a suspension. They will be a much different team now. Couldn't they sit out for like 1 more week?
  14. From the little I see, I LOVE the way he gets up and down the floor. Looks very mobiles and runs smoothly for a big. Needs to "bang" a little more it looks like, but his skillset and movement looks fairly smooth.
  15. Red Rum, Miles actually talked about his honesty last night and how sometimes it almost comes off as harsh. He said something along the lines of when he talked to his team what did they want most from a coach. The players almost unanimously said they want a coach that is honest with them and pushes them to the limit. So I'm sure a lot of it is that Miles simply says it how he see's it and the players respect that. He doesn't beat around the bush with them. Now, he will make his sarcstic comments, but even those I think have a point to them. They come off as harsh, but then at the same time their is a lot of truth to them. I personally like a coach that tells it how it is.
  16. Rosenthal and Washnut both had articles that said Rivers went through drills today and looks like he may play tomorrow. So that is good news.
  17. I like Benny. The guy was thrown into the wolves not a lot of talent around him. Its damn hard being a true freshman PG at the D-1 level. Benny is hands down our best on ball defender and for the most part does what we ask of him on the offensive side. Get them into their sets and don't turn the ball over. To judge him after 9 games is crazy. Plus, the guy has a 2-1 assist/turnover ratio. Again, this guy is a FRESHMAN. If you put him around more players that can do more things I bet you will see a much better player. Give this man some time. I think he will do just fine here when its all said and done.
  18. Opened up at Oregon -13 for those that like to look at that stuff. I have a feeling this could be a very tough game for NU. Especially if Parker and Shields are out.
  19. 2nd leading scorer Drew Crawford is out for the year with a shoulder injury. Feel bad for the guy. He can apply for a medical RS so hopefully does get that. This makes yet another team to lose a key component of their team (Frazier of PSU the other). Maybe now we can sneak past another team??? NW was off to a decent start to at 7-3.
  20. Biggs will start next season and I would be absolutely shocked if he doesn't....Biggs can play. Biggs will be able to create for NU next year and we desperately need that. I know it was just Midland, but I thought Biggs was one of the best players on the floor that night. From everything I have heard, Biggs can play and is doing very well at practice.
  21. What about the time he flexed his muscles to the red zone after the scrum at halfcourt (one that he didn't even do anything on, was too busy flopping). McDermott is a DAMN good player, but I lost a lot of respect for him during the NU game.
  22. Depth will definitely be what hurts this team this year. I do like how Miles gives them days off and time to rest. I think he knows gameday is where they will go the hardest. I'm not saying don't work hard, but when you are only able to play 8 guys at best, you have to go lighter during the week or these guys will have no legs at all as brutal Big 10 moves on. 7 teams I believe are ranked in the top 25, 3 in the top 7, NU has already played a ranked Jays team and will face an Oregon team that is 26th accoring to this week's AP. That is going to take its toll on any team, let alone a team as thin as NU.
  23. I'm not saying a top 2 team by any stretch of the imagination. But we SHOULD be better next year (now, that may not be saying much obviously). But we will at least have much, much, much more depth on the floor. Plus it will be most guys 2nd season in the system which will help. We just need Fuller, Hawkins and Webster to be able to come in and help as well.
  24. You forgot to mention Webster, Biggs, Pitchford and Petteway. We will still be inexperienced, but I like some of the pieces being put in place. I still hope we sign Attewe to give us 1 more big man. Throw in Parker a year older, Shields a year older and Gallegos who seems to be getting better and better and I have to believe we will be much better next season.
