  1. I understand what you are saying.....but no way in H E (double hockey stick) can all these guys play too many minutes without Menke and others filling in for them. Not sure if you have noticed, but they play about 30+ games this year and we have 7 guys on scholarship playing right now with Shields hurt. If you put them through too much early, they will be dead come conference time. Once Shields comes back his minutes will drop, but at this point what other choice does Miles have? You got to think a little before you post my friend.
  2. I'm not drinking the kool-aid, but will definitely enjoy the win. Most of us know this will be a tough year. Any win they can get is nice. Build some confidence with those young guys.
  3. What is great about this win for the team is that they went on a 7 minute drought and found a way to grind it out. This was NOT a thing of beauty by any means, but we all know this may be a tough year and this was a very nice win over a quality opponent. Defense was awesome all night. Just gotta hit some shots. Even in that drought I really thought NU had some good looks, just couldn't make any. That happens. They didn't hang their heads, kept working on defense and found a way to get the win. On to Sunday!
  4. I think a lot of us thought this would be a tough one. Good to see them find a way to win even after a 7 minute drought! Yikes!
  5. Hope I'm wrong...we can do this! Valpo 68 NU 60
  6. What if he plays this year, we get Pitchford in next season and Miles finds a JUCO big and he red-shirts NEXT season when we may have a little more depth? Kind of along the Ray Gallegos route?
  7. You know we are going to have a lot of "casual" fans that won't understand the situation and over-react within the 1st week of this season "Same ol' Nebraska" not knowing that this team is red-shirting 3 guys, and only has 8 guys on scholarship. Miles went 0-16 his first year at CSU, and we could see something similiar this year. The key for him is to somehow get guys in hear that can help build momentum......and I trust that he will.
  8. Rosenthal tweeted that Shields will miss 2 weeks with an infection he had in his elbow and that Biggs will RS this year. I hope the "curse" of NU players getting hurt doesn't continue under Miles the way it did with Doc. We may need Shields this year so I hate seeing him miss time like this. Especially since people said he has looked good in practice.
  9. I have actually heard Peltz is doing and looking good. I know that is kind of scary to think that our walk-on may be in the top 8, but maybe he ends up being like Beranek or Verlander where they don't really hurt you, they just may not do a ton for you either. If he is the backup PG, his job will simply be to run the show and try and limit turnovers.
  10. NU is looking at a transfer from Missouri (which I think most of us knew) and now one that is leaving Wichita State as well. Robin Washut ‏@RobinWashut Sounds like #Nebrasketball is also interested in former Wichita St commit Deontae Hawkins, a 2013 3-star PF from Ohio. Robin Washut ‏@RobinWashut #Nebrasketball has officially offered former Missouri 2013 PG commit Travis Jorgensen of New Hampton (N.H.) Prep. Ranked 137 in Rivals150.
  11. Washnut reporting on twitter that Aram Martin is the next in line that NU is looking at. 6'9, 180 lbs. Little thin. His list of teams looking at him not overly impressive yet, but have heard he has a lot of upside and more offers may come. He also tweeted that Martin is hoping NU makes an offer and to make an official visit.
  12. Could NOT have said it better than this. We all know this year is tough. Can you imagine if Biggs plays this year, then plays really well next year how many of us would be saying "Man, it sure would be nice to have Biggs one more year with Parker, Shields, Petteway, Pitchford, Webster, etc.....?" Why waste him this year. We need to suck it up, know this year will be tough and move on. I think this was one of Doc's biggest issues was he tried to fill too many pieces early and it ended up back firing. BE PATIENT with Miles, probably take our lumps this year but BUILD for the future which is what he is good at (at least in his other stops).
  13. Sadly I have to miss the Midland exhibition. Is that on TV live?
  14. Reggie Rankin tweeted today that NU is still in the running with him. 6'8 power forward at 250#. Has some good schools looking at him, and we all know we need some big bodies. He is a 2013 recruit.
  15. I think the Jays have a nice team. Here is my concern with them if I were a Jays fan. Yes they only lose 1 starter, but he was a good one. Second thing...they won a lot of close games this past year to their credit. But, say they lose a few of those close games and WSU isn't upset in the Valley, do they even dance? I mean they had 29 wins (not many quality though) and were still an 8 seed. Give them props, they won the games they had too. The other thing, they never had an injury really that hurt them last year. Will you get that lucky again this year? What is McDermott, Gibbs or Echinique go down? You just never know in sports. They should have a nice team, no doubt about that. But I still think they have a lot of question marks.
  16. Did any of you see that on Rosenthals last chat that they have sold over 1,000 more season tickets to this year compared to last year? It would be great if fans did come out and support Miles and the guys. Just for the effort Miles has done this summer in promoting the team in my opinion is worth at least supporting the guys. We all know this season is going to be tough to watch at times, but I think its great that ticket sales have gone up the way they have.
  17. I know somebody that was at the practice this past weekend that said Biggs would be the best PG we have right now. He said our new walk on may be in the top rotation as well (that is how thin we are). I believe the coaches want him to play, but its up to Biggs from what I understand.
  18. Andre Almeida! We gonna pound that rock inside and he's going to dominate! And when I say dominate, I mean he will lead the team in scoring at 8 ppg.
  19. According to Lee B, ISU dominated the scrimmage. He just has a little blurb on omaha.com. Basically says ISU dominated the interior and NU struggled with what most thought they would...PG play and scoring and knowledge on defense.
  20. I do agree that Doc also did say what fans wanted to hear. I think the ONE big difference is that Miles has actually turned bad programs into winners (and we at NU are hoping for the same). The other thing I believe in Miles more than I did Doc is that of evaluating talent and working his butt off to bring in talent to NU. I sometimes got the impression that Doc kind of felt he couldn't ever compete with the big boys for recruits so settled for leftovers. I truly believe that Miles believes he can get some of those recruits and soon enough will. With the new facilities and the way he is with his personality, I think he will bring in talent we haven't had in quite some time at NU. At least that is all of ours hope. So far in his 7 months he has brought in Petteway, Pitchford, Biggs, Vucentic, Fuller, Hawkins and Webster. All on paper are much better IMO then what Doc ever brought in. That's what gives me so much hope with what Miles and his staff can do with a few years to work.
  21. Ron, I'm about right where you are sir. I just have a hard time seeing this team winning many games this year. I would love to see 7-8 non-con wins and 3-5 conference wins. I just don't see how we win many games as we have very little experience and offense. I'm hoping Miles can somehow get these guys to buy in and at least make games respectable and maybe we "sneak" a few wins out. Whatever happens, I'm very happy with the hire of Miles and I like what he has done from the attention standpoint this past season. If he can build on that, get some nice pieces in place I think in 2-3 years we have a shot to dance again.
  22. I don't think so. He was supposed to come sometime this month but looks like he liked what he saw at Okie State.
  23. Whoops! I didn't even look in the recruiting section. I gotta get used to this new website. Thanks for sending me that way! Hadn't even seen that page yet so was glad you did.
  24. I apologize if some of this has been posted. Rosenthal tweeted a little while back that he is going to be making a visit to NU within the next month or so. I have attached a youtube video of him (below) and he looks like he has fairly nice hands and some good hop in his step. I like the fact (not granted this is a highlight video) that he WANTS to dunk the ball every time he has the chance. At the end of the video he shows teams like OU, ASU, Marquette and a few others recruiting him. It doesn't show NU, but the video was dated back in June and from the sounds of Rosenthal's tweet we just now are on the radar.
  25. I really hope you are kidding. If you are even remotely comparing NU football fans to Jays fans then we have some serious issues with you. 85,000+ at EVERY NU football game and you think the majority are Jays fans? You really are crazy. And what, 2,100 went to that Jays deal Friday night. Don't kid yourself buddy.
