uneblinstu's postgame chatter: Vol: 10; ed: 17 - @ Purdue

Getting Michigan at home is huge. They follow it up with a game at Ohio St. That's gonna be a big couple of games, I think. -

I hear you. I think if you convert a couple of those in the middle of that game and you're playing a 6 or 4 point a game instead of a 10 to 12 point one, you put yourself in position to have a happy flight. Chances were still long, for sure, either way. -

Actually, it might. When they play with effort, and I think they have vs. every conference opponent, they're gonna be very hard to beat for the rest of the teams on the schedule. -

They had multiple opportunities to get that lead down under 9 and would have a bad possession, or turn it right back over something like that. I'm not saying NU should have won, but I think they had chances to take it down to the wire. -
Man, this feels like a missed opportunity... There must have been more to the story on Cope's T. Not sure if something had been brewing, but it was a weak call. NU have every chance to be in this game. Every time they had a chance to get back in the game and really make things interesting, they literally gave it away. Glynn seemed to struggle today. Frankly, most of the back court did, at least offensively. Roby did some nice things, I thought it was one of his better games, actually. Purdue was allowed to be really physical in the perimeter today, especially early. Really harassed NU into a bunch of turnovers, which may have been the difference in the game. That Haarms kid is skyrocketing up my most annoying player leader board. I'd really like to see NU mix in the press more in the middle of games, not just when they're trying to make a miracle comeback. I'd like to see them ambush teams with it. It seems to produce results just about every time they use it. They don't need to do it a lot, just occasionally. For a team with a dominant front court, NU sure dunked a lot. Jordy didn't play in the 2nd half. He hasn't played much in a bunch of 2nd halves. Why is he still starting? Tanner is solid, but he's got some nuances he's still figuring out. Had a couple chances to pickup some offensive fouls but didn't. I think he'll learn how to pick those up. Thomas Allen going through a few of those Freshman blues? For the second game in a row, the rebounding improved quite a bit after halftime. Let's see if we can get that figured out before the break next time. NU shouldn't fear Purdue if they face them again. Hopefully they get another shot at them in New York. Alright, that's enough for now. Here's to getting back on track on Tuesday vs. Wisconsin. Decision coming Jan. 15. https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/with-official-visits-done-thamba-zeroing-in-on-decision -
Pretty sure the person who posted this is a Husker fan.

The games vs. Michigan then at Ohio State suddenly become huge.

I hope we get to see them in the B1G Final. -
Iowa's off to an 0-4 start in conference play. And they haven't exactly faced a murderer's row.

OT: UCF is a 2018 College Football National Champion
uneblinstu replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
All PR and I'm fine with it. They did the absolute most they possibly could and the country clubbers of college football are crapping on it. It probably cost them their coach, which is our gain. They're not the national champs. Nobody's gonna remember them as national champs. They're rousing some rabbles, likely in hopes of starting a movement to reform the system. They're keeping the conversation about their program alive. For a team like that, that's exactly what they need to do, kitchey as it may be. -
Quick look, and if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me, but I think it was the 2002 offseason. It looks like the only player who didn't come back was Wilson Thomas who went to train for the NFL draft after the next football season, IIRC.

There will always be transfers and such to fill in the gaps if necessary.

Coach Hunter mentioned on Sports Nightly last night they're most actively recruiting the 2019 and 2020 classes at the moment.
-
No question about it. They're talented, though, that's all I'm saying. They're gonna grab some games that will spoil things for a team or two.

We're starting to show up on "in the mix" and NIT lists. And a couple "next four out" mentions as well. Just keep winning. -
He'll get them by learning how to defend without fouling. He leads the team in fouls committed at 41, tied with Jordy. He averages a foul every 6.9 minutes. The player with the next most is Glynn at 40, but he averages a foul only every 11.25 minutes. Once Zay learns how to defend without fouling it'll be possible to put him on the floor for 25 minutes, until then, the rotation we've got now is as good as any.

Illinois fought back and made a game of it vs. Minnesota. Couldn't pull off the comeback, but the Illini are a pesky bunch and have some talent. They're gonna be a handful. They're super young, so they may hit a wall at some point, but they're gonna be really good over the next couple of years, I think, just probably not this one.

Last two NIT champs followed it up with really good teams the next year. Dollars to donuts both of those teams would have traded it for the play-in game for the NCAA Tournament. -

It is at a place like Nebraska and frankly, it is for most schools that aren't blue bloods. Everybody talks about getting to the dance. That's the goal and dream for 99% of all college basketball teams and players. An NIT run doesn't add much. Any NCAA visit is more preferable than any of the other options on the table. Especially at a place like Nebraska. -

NCAA tournament experience is more valuable than an NIT tournament championship.
