  1. Wonder when we’ll start hearing about rescheduling games?
  2. I thought we saw the best basketball we've seen all year from Stevenson last night. He got off to a bit of a rough start, but we saw more from him that looked more like what I was expecting to see from him. Hopefully he builds off it and settles more into his role here.
  3. First Half: The Derrick Walker era is here! I thought he actually looked pretty good. And the action was fast and furious, lol. NU pretty sloppy with the ball early. McGowens tried to literally take on the IU whole team on the break. It predictably didn't end well. Later he got past the whole defense, and on my tv at least, appeared to have a pretty clear layup, but passed it out. Lat looking more comfortable the past couple games. Still not sold on Banton being a great point guard...he might be NU's best option, though, IDK... Hoosiers were last in the Big Ten in 3 point makes per game, so natually they took and made a lot vs. NU... Has Stevenson finished anything at the rim this year? Seems like a lot of them are out of control, too. Next time down the floor he finishes under complete control...lol It was pretty, too. Would love to see more of that! Teddy seems to have found his rhythm from the free throw stripe. Walker is already the best post finisher on the team. Yvan will be a nice compliment to Walker when he gets back. Lazy rebounding down the stretch of the first half was killer. Halftime: Second Half: I like a lot of how they came out of the break. But that whole shot clock deal was peak #Nebrasketball. Teddy doesn't seem to have the magic he had vs. MSU. Indiana stopped making shots, NU's rebounding better and is able to get out and run. Making some shots, too. This is what I think the blueprint is. This is what it's supposed to look like, just haven't been able to sustain it for long stretches. And the climbed all the way back! Stevenson had a terrific defensive rotation that disrupted Indiana's possession after NU went up 65-64. Maybe he's shaking off the rust, too. Giving offensive rebounds has been a bit of an issue for NU, especially at key moments, that said, it's also somewhat of an issue that they haven't really gotten any of their own, either. IU has 11 to NU's 3. (As of the U4 TO) Offensive rebounds and missed free throws down the stretch and at big moments continue to derail this team.

  5. - Another decent first half effort. - Nice to see Webster hit some shots. - Teddy is starting out games offensively great, but he can't keep from picking up fouls and some really needless ones, at that. It's killing the team. They need him on the court. He also lets mistakes affect his defense, his head drops and he gets lazy. - Really impressed with McGowens today on both ends. - I'm not really convinced Banton is what we need/want at PG. He's got some PG skills, but I think I'd rather see him not initiate the offense regularly. He does so much good on the court, but I wonder if the offense is better served if he moved off the 1? - Continue to be encouraged by the growth I'm seeing from Yvan. - Mayan looked good in some spurts, too. Both ends, really. - Teddy doing his thing in the second half. That's why he's got to figure out how to stay out of foul trouble. He changes the game for NU and opposing defenses. For all of the things he does to drive coaches and fans crazy, he is NU's biggest weapon by a lot. - NU with some silly, sloppy defense, though... - Turnovers, too. Gotta take much better care of the ball. - MSU has had an in-kind response for just about every statement NU threw at them. - Huskers had more highlights, Spartans did more little things. - Got enough from Teddy and Trey, maybe even Webster. Need more from everyone else. - Honestly, I wonder if NU wins if PBA was full of fans. It would have been rocking... - Rebounding fundamentals did NU in today. - No Shamiel in the 2nd half. - If they bring this effort from here on out, there will be wins, soon.
  6. Danggggg
  7. Thank goodness for the one free game. I really thought I put my guess in for this one...
  8. 8 of their 9 came in the second half, no less. Offensive rebounds were a huge factor.
  9. If this year's team plays like they did tonight, they might win all 20 going away.

  11. - Got an early 3 from Lat. Hopefully that means good things. - OSU tried to back Yvan into the paint and he didn't budge. I really like what I'm seeing from him in B1G play. He shouldn't try to drive, though... - Middle of the first half turned into a rec legue game. Lots of bad shooting on both sides. - I have no answer to the scoring droughts... - Several shots that felt like a 15 point attempt. Way too impatient on offense. - This feels like a nice summation: - McGowens doesn't stop playing. Gotta give him that, at least. - Teddy can't stay out of foul trouble. Felt like they could hang a bit when he was on the floor, but he couldn't stay out there. - I don't think Banton had a very good game. Made some really weird choices with the ball. Sloppy ball handling, too. - Eduardo Andre was completely in over his head today. - Stevenson looks completely hapless. Maybe it's just rust after such a long layoff... This team's a mess. I don't know what else to day. That was about as bad of an effort as I've seen from NU in a long time.
  12. I remember they called it a bunch at the start of whatever season it was when they either put the rule in place or maybe just made it a rule of emphasis. The frequency of that call waned as they season when on and it basically back to the level it was before the at. I’ll see it more as the signal for making a no call then actually making it a foul or whatever.
  13. I thought about it...I've done it before.

  15. I'm not very good at watching things like this and being able to tell you what's wrong or what needs to be fixed, so I'll relay on what I heard from people who I think do know more about that (I'd credit where I heard the conversation, but I don't remember where it was, it was somewhere on the radio after the Wisconsin game, I think...). They were talking about him largely needing to work on his footwork when he gets the ball on the block. He isn't giving himself a good base to start from, therefore struggles with consistency. If/when that gets figured out, he should find a lot more success down there.
  16. Myles Johnson is also in his fourth year in the program, and while I can't find his date of birth, I'm guessing he didn't start his collegiate career at age 17. Yvan actually wasn't that far off from what Johnson did after having a redshirt year. I don't know if Yvan will take advantage of having an extra year of eligibility, but I think the ceiling for Yvan is still a ways off. I've like what I've seen from him the past few games. I think him and Andre could be a really nice tandem in the paint, something we haven't seen here in a very long time.
  17. Sigh...He could have Lat's spot or something...
  18. Only got to see a little bit of this game down the stretch. - I saw them cut Michigan's lead to 4. - I saw they were 2-10 from 3 in the first half. They're not only bad from 3, they're regressing as the season is going along. That's not ideal. - They got to the foul line a lot down the stretch and I think they were something like 3-7. I wasn't able to watch that closely to know exactly what the real number was. They're going to get to the line a lot this year. If they can't convert, that's going to be a good thing for the other team. - Defense, rebounding and energy looked pretty good in what I saw. But if the above 2 points don't get figured out, I fear those other things will start to wane. I'll let y'all fill me in on the rest. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
