  1. Looks like a farmer.
  2. I have no problem with ending a sentence on a preposition. I don't think that rule was ever really a thing (other than a way for pedants to feel superior over the lesser folk). As Churchill is often quoted (I have no idea of its validity): "That is something up with which I will not put." Sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it? Carry on.
  3. I'll need to check my old scorebooks to see if I coached against this kid. Pretty damn cool!
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Oz surpasses Newby sometime this year. I like the way that dude runs.
  5. My least favorite thing about Miles is the scholarship "probation" we've been on. I hated when Pelini did it; I hate it that Miles does it.
  6. Isn't Oregon on a different schedule than most schools? Don't they start a lot later than average?
  7. Majority of the time, "Affect" = an Action, "Effect" = a rEsult. That's what I tell my students.
  8. It had to happen this way; we've got too many pages in this thread.
  9. I don't believe walk-ons affect APR. But I could be wrong. What you can do, however, is give walk-ons with great grades and graduating soon a scholarship after the year starts and that would affect your APR. Did I use the right affect? That you did. I fail to see a semicolon, however. Baby steps. I have noticed some solid semicolon usage lately, though.

  11. Trevor Menke makes good everything!
  12. I dig 'em.
  13. Walk-ons affect the APR? I thought it was only scholly players. Huh.
  14. I'm not sure how one would affect the other.
  15. Well, that's an interesting turn.
  16. Duke basketball players have a propensity for that field of study as well.
  17. Umm...read comment #9. HB mentioned it.
  18. He's lived there for ten years or so.
  19. I'd take that package at my house!
  20. At the risk of inspiring line drawing and backward bending leg comparisons ... Exactly how much taller is Tai than Benny? Approximately one Tai Webster head taller. At least that's how I see it.
  21. I always said the same thing. Create a major for those athletes that are interested in a career in their sport. Most major 'football factory' colleges basically have a way to do that with the "Physical Education" major, it seems. I'm thinking something different from a gym teaching degree, but you're not wrong.
  22. Hell, forget the grad transfer rule; college athletics in general (at least the money sports) is about athletic improvement more so than it is about education. Who's this guy trying to fool? I still think there should be a sports major (classes on dealing with the press, public speaking, money management, running local programs/leagues etc). Let these kids major in what they're interested in. It'd be like a theater major.
  23. Sam McKewon posts here from time to time (although I doubts he advertises it elsewhere, I guess).
  24. Watson is a solid athlete but I don't remember him showing those types of hops last year. Glad he's on our side the next three years...if he develops an outside game. Watch out I assume you mean a more consistent outside game. He wasn't bad from outside. His mid-range was quite deadly at times. No joke. His pull-up jumper was awfully impressive!
