I'm not talking about just Nebraska. I think we'll become so satiated with college football as a whole that interest will wane. What's special about college football on a Saturday when you get it on a Thursday and Friday as well? I know we've had Thursday and Friday games for a while, but we've begun getting more of them (and this new deal with the B1G is only adding to the numbers). We're going to continue to get more and more games on days other than Saturday, which will make Saturdays in the fall seem much less of an event. The deal with Fridays is I'm not sure what market college football is trying to attract. If this is going to benefit the colleges (aside from the money they're getting in the TV deal), the schools are going to need potential players/students/parents to watch the games (players, so they'll get exposure to the program, and students/parents so they'll get exposure to those cute university commercials). Well, that audience isn't going to be watching college football on Friday night, because they'll be on the field, playing in the band, cheering, in the student section, or in the stands watching their kids play on Friday night. In a quick bit of searching, I found that in 2010, 160 million people attended high school football games across the country. Averaging a 10-game season, that's over a million and a half people in the prime demographic for college football not watching on Friday night each week. Some high schools are going to switch and play their games on Thursday night instead of Friday, so as to not conflict with the college broadcast. That sucks. We just had a playoff game in Marysville on Tuesday night. Wednesday was a freaking morgue all day. We sure as hell don't need more of that. Keep high school football on Friday nights (though I understand with playoffs that games need to be played on other days). Keep college football on Saturday. I'm probably making too big a deal out of this. All in all, it just doesn't feel right.

I am not a fan at all of the move to have more games on Friday. I'm not even really a fan of the Thursday night game. We're going to satiate the market at some point, and interest is going to drop.

I guess in that lineup we'd go without a center, as Miles also said MJ was moving to the 4. Oh well...we'll see in a couple weeks!

I suppose dimes said it best: it's a simple way to look at the stats. I totally understand how those two stats are important (especially for a point guard); I just don't see how they're particularly related.
-
I suppose that's true. TD/INT ratio does both deal with passes, though. Basketball turnovers aren't necessarily on passes. Every so often we'll see a QB's stat show his interception/pass attempt ratio, which I think is a much more telling statistic.
-
I'm not sure if we've talked about this before (we very well may have), but I've never quite understood why there is a comparison ratio between assists and turnovers. I suppose I can see how it's an important thing to track for point guards (the guys who are supposed to take care of the ball and pass it to scorers), But so much more goes into an assist than just the pass. Someone else has to actually finish the play and score. I realize it'd be a pain in the butt, but I think a successful pass (as in, one that actually made it to a teammate)-to-turnover ratio would make more sense in determining a player's ability to take care of the ball. Anyone know why these two stats are compared so often? Is there a correlation between the two that I'm missing?

I didn't either...I guess I was too busy getting my eyes acclimated to the new design. Either that or I apparently don't spend much time looking at the signatures (though I've changed mine way more often than I thought I would).

Except that's considerably harder to control than playing a difficult non-con. The way you're putting it, you seem to be saying the teams have some control of their conference schedule. Whatever. I've said more in a conversation about Creighton than I ever wanted to.

Hit the red circle (or star) next to the title of the thread.

It did that for me on the old site as well. Annoying, but I've learned to deal with it.

Much better! And many thanks!

I'm not terribly high on the round avatar, but it's not something I can't get used to. I like that the name over the avatar is bigger...makes it easier on the eyes. I kind of dig that the reputation points are on display all the time. I think that's a cool twist. Though I'm not terribly happy with the lack of space between "Location" and what we've given as our location. "LocationSoutheast" doesn't look good as one word.

Which Sophomore has a "Breakout" year?

If Watson does have a breakout year, will you start to spell his name correctly? -

Honestly, I thought Watson already had a breakout year. He was way better than I had expected last year. -

I think the safest bets are MJ and Morrow. Morrow is healthy, and MJ is back to his more natural position. Both of things should add up to more production from two of our big fellas. -
2018 Isaiah Chandler - Wichita St
atskooc replied to Chuck Taylor's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Seems more like he's ready to attend UNM, "as of today." since yesterday he wasn't planning to. But, today, he is. Very well could be. At first glance, I read it as "At this moment, I'm going to New Mexico, but that might not always be the case." That's how I normally use that phrase, so that's how I read it. -

"As of today." Sounds like he wants something else. -
Will they be on their tip-toes?

2016-17 Big Ten Media Day - October 13th

Pffftt...pure coach speak. Any coach would say that about the league he's coaching in at the time. The Big 12, ACC, Big East...any coach in those leagues could have said the exact same thing. Agreed. This quote comes straight out of the coach speak handbook. Verbatim. It's still a good quote, IMHO. Not very many athletic conferences in America have what the B1G has. Aside from the four others that make up the power five? -

I don't care about Creighton.
