  1. If the problem is purely schematic why doesn't Fred Hoiberg have Doc scheme up a man defense that runs guys off the 3pt line to our shot blockers?
  2. When you have Trey out there we have more than enough guards so you're talking about playing another guy in an already bloated rotation simply to see if you get anything. I think it's more likely that McPherson is a 4 year college kid than he is a going to the NBA kid so it makes sense to actually try and develop him instead of just burning through yet another guy.
  3. Come sit down in the 100 level at least. There are plenty of spots.
  4. We're pretty good about not turning the ball over and sending the students to pick up promotional items during game play
  5. Brutal game. If you have profanities, put them in the game thread and then hit the showers before you come in here, please and thank you.
  6. This is bunk. Tarleton St and their 6'5" center held this team to 65 points packing the paint in Michigan because Billy Clyde demands effort
  7. We gave up 100 points. The guys who weren't Verge went 4-32 from 3. But yeah, Alonzo Verge dribbling too much is the problem, not the guys in red sitting at court side without any other solutions.
  8. As in replacing himself? Between the reports of the lack of attention to detail in Chicago and what we're seeing here you have to wonder what sort of training wheels came with that Iowa St job.
  9. Really underestimated how much we'd miss Matt As coaching in this one
  10. Will Keisei stay in the starting lineup or will Keon Edwards go back to his walk-on senior playing in his last home game spot in the lineup?

  12. Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-4) vs Michigan Wolverines (5-3) Date: Tuesday, Dec 7, 2021 Time: 6:00 pm Arena: PBA Broadcast: ESPN2 Michigan Info Head Coach: Juwan HowardLocation: Ann Arbor, MIConference: B1GNickname: Wolverines Shirt not to wear: Yellow, Blue, Nike Last time out: Beat San Diego St Line: Michigan by 7 Typical Rotation Depth: 8 KenPom rank: 18 Other: Nebraska hosts Michigan at home in December for the 2nd consecutive year Player to watch: Hunter Dickenson The offense runs through the massive Dickenson who rarely leaves the court. Besides excelling at rebounding and converting in the paint, Dickenson is also a gifted passer, able to work out of double teams. He'll occasionally pop a 3, currently 4-8 on the year. Player to watch: Caleb Houstan As you can see from this game chart, the success of Michigan thus far has correlated with the offensive output of 5 star Freshman Caleb Houston. We'll see if the young star can hold up in his second true road game of the year. Possible Michigan Starters 12 DeVante’ Jones G 6-1 200 GS New Orleans, La. (St. Augustine HS/Coastal Carolina) 55 Eli Brooks G 6-1 185 GS Spring Grove, Pa. (Spring Grove Senior HS) 22 Caleb Houstan G/F 6-8 205 Fr. (Stewartville HS) 44 Jaron Faulds F 6-10 240 Sr. Holt, Mich. (Holt HS/Columbia) The Rest of the Roster Senior PG transfer DeVante’ Jones takes over for Mike Smith. He's been good but not as consistent as Jones, especially from 3pt. Foul prone, it's something to monitor if he's guarding Alonso Verge. Combo guard Eli Brooks has been Michigan's most reliable outside shooter. Senior Brandon Johns has struggled with his shot but is likely back in the starting lineup with Moussa Diabate seemingly out with an illness. If Diabate can play, the 5 star freshman and his 7'3" wingspan will cause issues for Nebraska on both ends of the court. Versatile forward Terrance Williams should see plenty of minutes tonight and is doing everything except making baskets. 4 star freshman pg Frankie Collins has seen his minutes tick up as the season has progressed. Lefty freshman wing Kobe Bufkin leads a list of bench players who might see spot minutes tonight. UNL Game Notes Probable starters for Nebraska 1 Alonzo Verge G 6-3 30 Keisei Tominaga G 6-2 5 Bryce McGowens G 6-7 11 Lat Mayen F 6-9 13 Derrick Walker F 6-9 Bench 23 Keon Edwards G 6-7 32 Wilhelm Breidenbach F 6-10 0 C.J. Impressive as that might be, the Huskers host a Michigan team rolling into this season with a top 5 class. 5 stars? Michigan has 2 this year and undoubtedly more on the way. Former NBA star and assistant Juwan Howard is recruiting at a high level and the Wolverines have arguably increased a ceiling that was already high during the John Beilein era. The Wolverines are a lot like Indiana where everything runs through the post, they rebound well, and they're turnover prone. Look for Nebraska to try and deny the ball into Dickinson but they likely need a plan B as Michigan probably has countermeasures already planned. If someone is able to slow down Caleb Houstan they certainly need to stay on the court regardless of their output on the offensive end. Offensively Michigan doesn't run you off the 3pt line as much as Indiana but their man defense tends to turn teams towards the dreaded "hero ball" play. Free throws should be hard to come by for the Huskers but Verge might be able to draw contact on either of the PGs. The Huskers will likely have to start hitting from outside the arc tonight to win. Even-keeled Fred Hoiberg went so far as to climb a ladder with two basketballs to demonstrate the size of the 'big ass hoop' in order to slump bust Nebraska's putrid outside shooting. This is a frustrated Nebraska team. Can they simply have a few guys hit some shots tonight? Prediction: Nebraska 75 - Michigan 72 View full article

  14. Looks like Moussa Diabate might be out tonight. The lengthy freshman post player was a big part of Michigan's 8 man rotation. https://www.maizenbrew.com/basketball/2021/12/6/22820962/michigan-wolverines-basketball-moussa-diabate-health-update-sdsu-game
  15. Here is freshman 5 star Caleb Houstan's KenPom game numbers. It would seem that Michigan's 3 losses correlate with his 3 worst games. Tarleton State....Billy Clyde can still coach.
  16. Fred Hoiberg is the only person in history to have lost a 4 OT game in Div 1 and the NBA.
  17. Michigan favored by 7 in this one
  18. Per Nebraska “Matt informed me that he is taking a leave of absence to deal with health-related issues,” Hoiberg said. “As both a colleague and friend, his health is our priority, and we will support him throughout this process. Everyone in our program looks forward to when he is healthy enough to return to the sideline.” I don't know that Matt A is involved much with game day prep so I don't think we'll see much of a change there.
  19. We talk about upping the talent level here but I'm not sure anyone for Nebraska would start for Michigan
  20. Dear lord I'm hoping for result in the ballpark of 10
  21. The thing I always come back to is that the coaching staff determines the number of minutes that are played. I understand what Kobe and CJ are saying here and when I look at win/loses vs the number of times that AV shoots, I easily come to the conclusion that Verge has the ball too much. However, when I look at the rebounding rates the lowest two guys are Kobe and Keisei. The next lowest guy is Wilcher. Verge is among our best rebounders. To me Verge gets all those minutes and will continue to because he's a complete player.
  22. Forgot to post it here Indiana 89 - Nebraska 72
  23. I guess as far as Verge goes we have until at least January 5th to try and figure something out as that is maybe the first time we can Trey back. Honestly I can handle him over-dribbling or Bryce driving and taking 30 shots if we can make a winning offense out of it. I'm not saying that this is the path we should pursue; I'm saying that conference standings are based on wins and loses, not style points.
