Certainly a dangerous game. The Huskers have their work cut out for them, with a hungry 0-6 Penn State, probable dead atmosphere midweek, and coming off a win.
The key will be making the scrappy plays...David Rivers...
This running off talk is dumb unless Miles has a 4* or 5* big man to replace. Otherwise you just have another scholarship player sitting bench but this time he wouldn't have the experience under Miles. Not every scholarship player will be getting playing time.
Miles is dumb for not playing Vooch more. His big men now can't move their feet. Set Vooch in zone where he doesn't have to move too much and see what happens. See if his size throws off the other team for a few minutes.
Miles roster management bugs me. Vooch should have redshirted. Hawkins should have redshirted.
Good point about the big men trying to draw charges. The best example is at the end of the game where Smith tried to draw one. He had the size advantage to make the layup a lot more difficult but gave a pretty clear look trying for a charge.
Also disappointing the Huskers didn't push for the 2 for 1 at the end of the game. Instead opting to walk the ball up the court. Didn't really like the timeout with 9 seconds left either. Looked like Petteway had a better chance to create before the timeout.
Some clutch shots from both teams tonight.
Another road game is probably not what this team needs.
No doubt that it's true, but I don't think I like Miles saying it out loud. He's essentially saying he's coaching well enough but the guys he already has recruited simply aren't good enough to compete with the B1G boys.
The other problem being I don't think Miles is coaching all that great.
Have you been to a lot of practices, Coz? Have you tracked Rivers' production from earlier in the season when he was getting minutes? I know you're in a better position to address playing time than the coaches, but I just thought I would throw out some questions.
I guess...I see the games. The team looks lost. There is something to having a guy that has been through it on the court fighting for everything. Doesn't seem the new guys are scrappy like Rivers.
