Honestly this season is showing me that Miles is still learning big conference basketball. He doesn't quite know how to manage a Big 10 roster. This team looks more like what he was doing at Colorado State. It isn't going to work in the Big 10. Along the same line...Is anyone else tired of hearing him say we are a big away? He has a couple on the bench that could at least fill space and provide an inside defensive presence. At least we wouldn't get picked apart every time Pitchford is on the bench. Also play Rivers!

Different positions We play a lot of guys out of position. Position doesn't really matter much in Miles' system. Rivers and Hawkins are about the same size. I liked what I saw out of Rivers last year much more than what I've seen of Hawkins so far this year. If that is the case Miles' system is shit.

get Vooch in maybe he can finish... We are missing way too many underneath.

This team may have bigger problems than I thought. We ended up having to use our main rotation throughout this game. Was our bench there? Honestly would have liked to see some of those guys to hopefully get the starters focused. Miles will have a task of not losing the team this season. A loss @Cincinnati and then they're looking at starting 0-5 in conference before playing on the road @Penn State. A real possibility considering the team is softer inside than last year. Would have liked Miles to utilize more size in the non-conference (e.g. Vooch and Kurkowski) to at least see if they can keep Pitchford out of foul trouble during conference play.

Our inside defense is still pathetic.

Will we play the CBI if that is all we have? Hopefully NIT. The @Cincinnati game is huge.

Fine but we've seen this show before with Wes and Ubel. The kid looks like he could use a year in the weight room. So far I've been less than impressed with Miles' roster utilization.

Might as well get Vooch some minutes to see if he can help. Get him ready for Big 10 play.

I think he probably can provide a few minutes a half but he is still a relatively young player. As a big man it takes longer to be ready to play if you aren't an elite athlete. Give Miles a couple more years with him and who knows. He looks bigger and better this year. Maybe he will start seeing the court more later in the year. The next few games will provide enough opportunities for minutes. A lot depends on matchups and how Miles wants to play. I think he is earning his scholarship. Not everyone on scholarship will be getting game minutes. So...How is he practicing? Is he buying into the coaching? Is he improving to the staff's expectations? We also get a 7 footer in practice which is pretty valuable. You probably want guys like this around to build a program. A bunch of new faces is hard for a basketball program that isn't getting a bunch of 5 stars.

At least Doc didn't get the chance to ruin him. Shields looks better and more athletic this year, along with everyone else. The team must be on a better program.

I figured we would blow them out; up 30 was a little more than I expected. The team looks athletic enough to compete in the middle of the Big 10. I'm so happy Miles didn't run off Benny Parker like a few guys on here wanted. Keeping consistency on the roster will continue to be important. The arena sort of looked strange on TV. I think it was mainly the wall that had nothing on it. Seems it should at least have a box score. I like the new reffing. It actually forces guys to play defense. It still will take awhile for players to adjust but at least it won't look like NBA 2000 anymore. Wouldn't mind seeing defensive 3 seconds. Certainly want to see the shot clock down to 24 seconds along with 8 seconds to cross half court.

Haven't been this excited for an opener in years. Hopefully the team handles the atmosphere well.
