  1. One of things I like about this board is it's one of the few places I still feel young . I had never paid much attention to college basketball growing up; I liked the NBA at the time and only thought of Nebraska football. During my freshman year at NU I had a buddy from Virginia who was a big Nebraska basketball fan and convinced me to get student season tickets. This was in 1993 and I was hooked immediately. My first game was an exhibition against Pella Windows or Athletes in Action/Marathon Oil when they still did those...didn't matter. Those Nee squads played a fun brand of ball and I was shocked at how much more fun it was to go to basketball than football games. I watched all of the (Raycom-Phillips 66) road games on the big screen in the Selleck game room and had the high of winning the Big 8 tourney and low of getting smoked by Penn in the Big Dance that year. I figure if I could survive the Collier era after that exciting start, I can handle anything!
  2. I'd rather play a not very deep PSU team with tired legs. If we push the pace like Fred wants, then we should be able to run away from them in the 2nd half.
  3. Anyone have any experience or recommendation on the best way to get B1G Tournament tickets? I'm thinking of waiting until Wednesday night or Thursday to see if I can snag some reasonably priced tickets off a fan of a losing team. Is that too much of a risk? Am I better off trying to get tickets now?
  4. But, what if...and hear me our here... one just can't stand Wisconsin and wants to see them lose regardless? I'm confident NU will handle business and earn that 3 seed; we ain't gettin' left out the dance.
  5. Ok, but how do you know this? Like I said...I've heard everything under the sun about where our NIL stands (for basketball specifically). I just don't know what to believe.
  6. Serious question: How much better would the perception of the Big Ten be if we had a couple teams as pathetic as Georgetown & DePaul? I was listening to a discussion on the radio about all of the Big East bubble teams and they were saying their resumes stacked up favorably to Nebraska's because they had better road records and that got me thinking. It would be nice to have a couple of conference in the bank before the season even starts because you know there are two teams out there are automatic wins. So I looked at the numbers and they confirmed my suspicions . . . Georgetown & DePaul resemble middle of the pack low-major teams more then the P6 teams they claim to be: Team KemPom / BartT / NET Georgetown 197 181 203 DePaul 315 313 322 Michigan 124 117 129 Rutgers 90 98 90 UNO 261 264 272 We all know Michigan is bad, but they are light years ahead of DePaul & Georgetown. UNO is a (not so random) middle of the pack low-major team, and their metrics are way better than DePaul. And Georgetown is a lot closer to UNO than they are the B1G's next to last place team (Rutgers). I know conference records don't effect tourney selection, but it does impact perception. it would be nice if Nebraska had the feather in their cap of another couple of road conference wins just to get rid of that talking point. Or maybe the B1G wants Nebraska to be that bottom-feeding team, but we won't cooperate?
  7. Well, there aren't any bad teams in the tournament so they're probably a Final Four team if they get in.
  8. Does anyone have a grasp on our NIL situation though? I have heard conflicting info about it; everything from it's bottom third of P6, to it's very competitive except with a handful of bluebloods. I'd really like to know what the reality is. Do any of the big money boosters support basketball, or do they only care about football?
  9. I don't care if it makes me a bad person, but I really, really, REALLY want Wake Forest to miss the cut and have to sit at home and watch us dancing. I know it's petty, but that's honestly how I feel.
  10. This post is now just one downvote away from a goocher!
  11. This ignores the fact we outscored them significantly on points in the paint.
  12. I think it's because a lot of those folks are looking at him as a high school player, and not a prospect. He doesn't dominate all the time, which he should in high school with his athletic gifts and skill level. He may not have the motor you want to see at this point, but I bet a good coach could bring that out in him. I agree he would be an incredible fit for the Huskers, but I'm not sure about his interest level...seems to be looking for a blue blood offer.
  13. A worse-shooting version of Juwan Gary, except with no heart and no hustle? Yeah, I'mma pass on that.
  14. That UND squad had a couple of guys that would be nice pieces in a Hoiberg offense...B.J. Omot & Tyree Ihenacho. At least they looked that way when they played us.
  15. Can we re-name the Tournament Watch thread to this? NCAA Tourney Watch: These aren't grandpa Elmer's Huskers.
  16. I see Matar as a replacement for Allick rather than Mast. IMO, he definitely fits the role of a big who brings defense/rebounding/energy more than a skilled big who can shoot and facilitate. But he adds more of a rim-running and lob threat and better rim protection than Allick. He could definitely be a nice weapon if he continues to develop.
  17. I actually wouldn't mind this at all. NU can beat both of those teams, even without their best performance.
