  1. We won, which is great...but I had to turn it off mid way thru. I honestly can't begin to understand what this coaching staff saw in some of the pitchers we have in our roster. That's an area where we have no depth due to injuries but some of the healthy arms we do roll out may not even be good enough for the Mavs. If we are going to win any Big 10 series this year I hope it's this weekend. Can't keep losing to the Suckeyes
  2. It would be complete BS if Kenya pursed Xavier for UCONN but if so I don't see how we don't let Xavier go considering we will probably be dragged thru the mud for not letting a kid do what he wants to do.
  3. I don't see how anyone can fault Kenya for making a smart move. He was here for five years. It's not as if he half assed it and left right away.
  4. I would feel better if he had used "will" instead of "should."
  5. It's my understanding that Cope and Kenya are very close so him leaving could weigh heavily in Copeland's decision unfortunately.
  6. You mean like when you ask your three hole hitter to sac bunt on a 2-0 count with zero outs and two runners out? Far cry from the big talk that came out of his mouth when he was hired.
  7. Can’t get every player with how scholarships are utilized in baseball but with all the Nebraska players around the region that are tearing it up it just further displays Erstads incompetence on the recruiting trail. The fact that he didn’t even recruit Alec Bohm is pretty laughable.
  8. Down 15-4 vs 7-19 Mich St team. 4 errors. Truely an embarrassing display of baseball. Almost have to feel bad for Erstad now as he appears to be out of answers and doesn’t know what buttons to push. It’s going to be tough sledding if we lose this series if we want to make the Big Ten tournament. That’s just sad to say.
  9. Roby to me seems like one of the more well grounded players we have had in recent memory. I put it at zero chance he is realistically thinking about going pro.
  10. Not to turn this into a baseball thread but I'm not sure how him being a candidate for the Dodgers job has any bearing on the results he had produced as Nebraska's head coach. You are comparing apples to oranges. Callahan and Riley were both NFL head coaches. And yes, he did win the Big Ten Coach of the year last year, this year is not over but I can't imagine if when we hired Erstad I said that six years in he would have 1 league title, 0 tournament titles, and 1 regional win against Binghamton that people would be happy with that. Erstad is probably here as long as he want's to be and thus far I can't say for sure that that's a good thing for Nebraska baseball.
  11. I highly doubt baseball is even on Moos's mind. We won the Big Ten last year and it seems for many, winning a Big Ten title once every five-six years is acceptable for the baseball program. Not to mention, Erstad carries a lot of clout and will definitely have a longer leash than normal. No inside information but I think Erstad will eventually make the jump to the majors. Based on his results(or lack thereof)...the sooner the better.
  12. I want Copeland to come back but I have a hard time buying this. If Copeland is realistic, his chances of being drafted even if he comes back are probably slim. For a guy who has had issues with injuries and will be what...24 next year, it's probably time for him to get his pro career started. I hope he sees it differently but I will be shocked if he decides to not turn pro.
  13. Based on this poll posters being confident that Miles is the long term answer for the program is tied for the lead. That's with him producing a goose egg in the postseason over the last six years. With that in mind, I can only imagine that people would be partying on 72nd and Dodge if we ever hired someone with the pedigree of an Altman or a Matta. You probably have to filter out the Creighton trolls votes for Miles being the long term answer as no doubt they want him to stick around as long as possible.
  14. Tony Carr announces he will go pro and sign with an agent. Big loss of the Nittany Lions
  15. Honestly, at this point I would be very happy if we went 50/50 on Palmer/Copeland returning. I would prefer to have Palmer back if I had my choice of the two. Assuming we don't have any others that leave early or transfer we could still put together a very good starting lineup without Copeland. I think he's right with Copeland, unless he really really loves the college game it does not make much sense for him to return.
  16. We didn't play very many good teams according to the metrics. And the good teams we did play we did not fair very well. I think how our schedule played out vs other Big Ten teams hurt us more than anything. It would have been very nice to have a couple more games at home vs the likes of Mich St/OSU/Purdue.
  17. Difference of opinion. Injuries obviously hurt the pen but our talent level is nowhere near where it needs to be even with a full healthy roster. It SHOULD still be enough to win some games/series in the Big Ten and hopefully make the tournament but that's not saying much.
  18. That doesn’t surprise me. For a guy who was maybe the most balls to the wall player in the big leagues his offensive philosophy as a coach his philosophy is polar opposite. As I stated above...he either flat out lied during his introductory PC or he has no idea who to recruit/develop to what he wants this offense to be. Just brutal to watch.
  19. Yeahhhh, are we sure it’s just lack of quality arms due to injuries? Pretty sure you have to go back very very very far in Husker history to find a worse 1-9. Erstads shortcomings on the recruiting trail are on full display.
  20. Is there any parameters on who can and who can't go thru the NBA evaluation process? If not, I don't understand why Roby or even Glynn wouldn't throw their hat in the ring.
  21. I’ve heard it’s more than a good possibility that he ends up at Creighton. He will fit in with McDermott well. His defense is obviously lackluster but he’s one of the best offensive players in the country and has proven he can play with the big boys.
  22. Let’s not act like injuries are the only reason we are a mediocre at best baseball team. The injuries to some key guys in the pen were less than ideal but we have a number of upperclassmen struggling on the pitching staff. And that doesn’t even begin to explain Erstad rolling out another less than stellar lineup. I say this every year but it’s pretty apparent that Erstad either 1. Has no idea how to recruit/develop the type of offense he wants or 2. He flat out lied the first couple years after he was hired when he proclaimed this offense would be Uber agreessive, put extreme pressure on the defense, and be chaos on the bathpaths. Fast forward six years and we have another lineup with minimal speed and power. I put it up there with Doc’s ole “were going to be baseline to baseline” talk.
  23. I think he will hear something shortly, JMO. If it's an extension which I assume it will be...I hope it means that Moos has a good indication that our core group will be returning for next year.
  24. In Miles first year we averaged just over 10K at the Bob. Doc's last year we averaged around 300 less fans per game compared to Miles first year. I don't think you can contribute Husker fans filling up PBA as a sign of Miles doing a great job. I would say it has more to do with the allure of a new facility in a pretty cool area of town. Barring the program turning in Rutgers like seasons I think fans will continue to show up regardless of who is leading the program.
  25. I would hope Moos doesn't put much stock in the Miles vs Sadler comparison. Miles was the beneficiary of a new practice facility, brand new arena, and is getting paid close to 1.5 million more than Sadler did. Doc was definitely at a disadvantage compared to his peers when it came to resources. Miles, not so much. Sure, we are better off with Miles at the helm but how much of that is due to Tim Miles compared to Nebraska basketball finally coming to age in the arms race?
