This is their best game since Allison’s injury. What is so hard to watch is they play like this and then just have a stinker of a game.
-
Agree defense is Iowa’s weakness. They just try to outscore you. Tournament tends to expose that problem. Have a off night and it’s game over. Outside of the second we did better than expected for me. We just can’t have those breakdowns if we expect to win.

Assistant is Jan Jensen, associate head coach. Been with Bluder from the start, now 23 years.
-
Do not remember her name but the assistant sitting by Bluder is the 4-5 lead coach.
-
Iowa has an assistant who does most of the center coaching.

We make some real basic mistakes. We look to shoot too many threes. We are not shot ready most times. Too much standing and watching someone dribbling. Too much of the same story for this team most games.

Seen Geno was complaining about the officials to Holly Rowe on ESPN. Doubt he will get much more than a call from the conference reminding him coaches do not complain about calls. IMHO we need more of this. "How do I address it? How do I address it? You don't address it," Auriemma said. "This is what you get when you come down here. The game was called one way, then it changed. Nothing else changed. We didn't change. Nothing else changed." This also happens when conferences have schools that want to see get high seeds in the NCAA tourney and make a deep run.

Not sure how many of you watch other B1G games but every time Michigan is on they always bring up Leigha Brown having left Nebraska for Michigan. That KBA knew Leigha was a 3 level scorer but was surprised how good she was in other facets. She is playing the point this year and doing quite well with it. She has had three games with 10 or more assists this year. I know a few do not like her on court style but I wouldn't mind seeing some of our current players play with more of an attitude. None of them should feel good about the product on the court.

As was pointed out earlier, Trevor Lakes is her boyfriend, one time Husker MBB player and now went back to IN (home state) for his SR. season to play for Southern Indiana. Issie is in her 4 year at NE so maybe they want to be together after this season. Watching yesterday and some of the fouls and the one where the Maryland gal lost her balance and Issie was called for her 5th got me thinking...well Issie has had more than her share of odd calls against her so maybe it is just time to move on with life.

The one thing that bothers me is no Brady and Dillard with the team on the bench. Allison has missed only one game (PSU) as she had her surgery on the 10th. How can you win or lose as a team when two of them are excused(?) from being on the bench but appear to still be part of the team.

Just to add to Karl's point. Amy also has shown to stick with a plan even when it has shown to not be very effective. When you only score 14 points in a half, time to shake things up.
-
This team does too much standing and little to no movement on offense. Part of it is because we do too much dribbling. As pointed out too many lazy passes and late passes. Yesterday was tough to watch. Looking ahead we could/should win 4 more games (NW (2), MSU, and MN) but with this team that is no sure thing. Could be a long rest of the year.

I can see both girls and boys who play club early on end up having a lot of mileage on their bodies by the time they are in their late teens an early 20's. Like all of us, some fare better than others. Basketball is played on a hardwood floor.

I was busy last night so I have not had a chance to watch the game. It is concerning with Jaz's play. Wonder if there is more going on that we do not know with her?
-
I would be interested in a comparison between WBB and WVB. I do think the game (BB) has a lot more contact than it once did. Part of why more young girls are looking to VB IMHO.
-
I will wait to see the product on the football field. Recruiting is one thing but you need to be able to put the pieces together and have a successful showing when it matters.

Agree on Stewart, her offense has been non existent for some time. Think part of Coley’s problem is she has spent too much time playing out if position and it has slowed her growth as a player. Hate to say this but I would not start Krull. She adds nothing on the offensive side for us. I would start Hake in her place.
-
I did not see Allison last night so maybe that would indicate she had her surgery?

Coach Amy Williams on Sports Nightly (pre-Rutgers Game)
All About the Corn replied to Red Don's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
I can remember when I played (before the 3 point shot) we was always told to move in closer when you are missing from 19-20' range. Now think they are mostly told to keep shooting and they will eventually fall. Very few players can play at all three levels on offense. -
Agree too many turnovers and OSU on Saturday will make us pay for those easily correctable turnovers we seem to make.

4 of the 6 years Amy has been here we have had a post season appearance (counting the covid shutdown as we had a winning record and think we would had received an NIT invite). She is 1-3 in games played with the lone win in 2021 when almost no fans was allowed. Even if we just fell completely apart I still think she would be back next year. That said I do think she would be given more direction from Trev. That could be roster size, and/or coaches. -

WBB can and should be a top 25 team every year. I do think there is room for Amy to get better as a coach. Part of her growth I think can come from not only her years on the bench but also from her assistants. As has been talked about here, Keller has been a nice addition. But this has been her first change in quite sometime. I do think we should be dancing almost every year and those off years should be rare. -
Must win or we further find ourselves down the rabbit hole.
-
While I think Williams has improved as a coach at this level it is games like this that remind you she takes 3-4 steps forward and the seems to take 2-3 steps back or even takes a few more. At this point we need to right the ship or even NIT could be a dream.

If she had surgery you normally see a large brace that does not permit any bending of the knee for a few weeks. Maybe it was not a full tear and only needed minor repair. Still enough to keep her out for the season but a quicker recovery time.
