  1. Ergo his draft stock increases. Its the amount it increases that is the decision here.
  2. I think the exact same thing. If he had to go out knowing in the non conference that was his role...I think he meets expectations.
  3. Percentages will be ski high when he's dunking over everyone ?
  4. But man I could see him doing that and a little more next year. If I am the new coach I run the offense through him early and often in the early season. Sink or swim him. Hold his britches to the fire. It is your responsibility to get 18 and 8 most nights son. I think he responds and dominates ?
  5. I mean if he gets this one right too he kind of has be right ?!?
  6. Aw more nuanced then I read into it. I should know better ?
  7. Look, I'm the biggest Miles cheerleader there is. I wanted him to win bad. I also get there is a human element to this that completely sucks. There is also a fan element that can can be apart from that. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. I'm excited. There's promise of a new begining. Banners in the rafters. NCAA tourney wins. Hope springs eternal. We can be excited for the future and feel horrible for all the family's and people this affects all at the same time ?
  8. My guess is he'd do a hell of a job there. He could keep his transfer model in recruiting and supplement it a lot easier with the solid guys he did't get here. Actually develop a bench. Its a hop, skip, and a jump from Southern California. There are lots of people (myself included) that absolutely would not leave the area for absolutely anything. But might be able to be talked into Vegas for a few years?. He might even be able to sweat talk a blue chipper or two. A hell of a lot easier sell than Nebraska if you ask me (Don't get up in arms I spent 30 years in and around Lincoln)
  9. I remember that game against KState when that tool Beasly was talking about "Going for like 50" and was promptly shut down ?
  10. There are a few aspects of my job I "hate" but I am really good at. Hating something about your job doesn't mean you are necessarily bad at it.
  11. This is what I believe too. It's the most likely scenario. And for the good of my mental health I am refusing to believe its gross incompitance ?
  12. No. But what I do think it does is possibly change who the next guy may or may not be. The consensus on this board seems to be a coach with experience that has won. There aren't a whole lot of people that fit that criteria. And the ones that do usually have choices. And one of the factors will always be "Who's my boss going to be and do I want to work for that person?" And its my belief this whole situation makes the answer to that question much more likely a negative check when a candidate weighs if they take this job.
  13. But that's my whole point. He doesn't need cover. We all know what this is. What cover do you need if you have all your ducks in a row.
  14. Agreed but my confidence in him is in free fall. It's not like everyone didn't know what this season was...Put up or shut up so to speak. And now somehow making the NIT is a factor. Really? I mean come on.
  15. Because that's exactly what happened after his statement ?
  16. I agree. But this statement has me feeling he (A) doesn't have someone in place and (B) is now scrambling to figure something out.
  17. I find it hard to believe the masses put any weight into making the NIT as a good thing.
  18. Not at all. Its more about the pompous response that there is absolutely no logical way it couldn't not be Hoiberg ?
  19. Any and all? The first thing I though was guess this means he didn't have his guy lined up. Or the guy he has lined up is still coaching this season. But hey he still possibly has a house in Chicago soooo... ?
  20. This is where I land. Kinda have to at this point. Please Lord Baby Jesus don't f@ck this up.
  21. I thought no for this reason too. But then I thought if they did get a bid (I don't think they will) one of the assistants would step up.
  22. I really have no idea the size of contract they offer the next coach. The consensus among articles/opinion pieces and message boards seem to suggest people generally believe NU is in a position to offer 3 million per year. For the next point let's assume that's true. So what about length? I say you have to go 6 years. Show the commitment. That's a contract for 18 million. I understand the arguments that its hard to win here. And a coach may believe this is a career killer. I just don't buy that argument now. I think the last 3 coaches I buy it more so. I think if there is really that kind of money coaching candidates would look at all the positives and this is an attractive job. Nothing can be done about history. Nothing can be done about proximity to recruits. But it seems to me about everything that can be done to level the playing field has been done now.
  23. I would hope the expectation or confidence in hiring a next head coach that can win one tournament game has higher odds than a winning lottery ticket. But, alas, I have been following this team greater than three decades so I can understand this sentiment ?
  24. I guess my only concern going forward is I hope the next coach is treated like Frost. Meaning given whatever he asks for. Eliminate the question about total buy- in from the athletic dept. This has come up in at least the last 3 coaching changes (counting the current one).
