I also just snagged a couple in 317. Took some years off when I started having kids but now looking forward to bringing them along!

I feel like you see these guys in the B1G all the time where you go "how is that guy beating us?" Keisei could be one of those guys for us. He can shoot, he's a crafty passer, and he's scrappy, which I think is a great combination.

It looks like I’m wrong about that. I thought I heard them say that but I can’t verify it. -

Seemed to me that either the rims were tight, the ball was overinflated, or both. It’s also played outdoors so could factor into tougher outside shooting. -
I fully expect Thor to come back with a video that piggy backs off this one and blows it out of the water.

uneblinstu’s postgame chatter vol 11, ed 2

I know it's still technically football season for some of our less intelligent/less interesting friends out there, but I was wondering if that Bill Moos guy is going to be able to focus on more than one sport at a time this year. The early results from this team are surely disappointing to him so I look forward to his next public comments with bated breath. -
Jorge Brian Diaz would have turned those into some pretty sweet layups, though.

I agree with this line of thought. The one thing I'll add is that red shirting a player seems to reduce the likelihood of transfer, which would definitely be good for the program. This decision could reveal much in Miles' confidence for the season and his job security down the line. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

One aspect I'll be interested in is Morrow's health. We'll feel pretty good about our guys if they stay healthy and Morrow is gimpy half the season.

I think it would be Walter P IV.

The way I understand this article is that once a player decides that he is "open" enough to take a shot, the distance of the closest player doesn't significantly affect the outcome of his shot. This should be expected, especially out of NBA players. A distraction shouldn't change the likelihood of a successful outcome, whether it's a fan on the sideline, a player 20 feet away, or a player 5 feet away. After the decision is to shoot is made the position of the defender doesn't matter and a coin flip will be as accurate a predictor of outcome as anything. The part of the article about the negative correlation proves the point that some of you are making: a truly contested shot is harder to make than an uncontested shot (e.g., a forced shot at the end of the shot clock). I think the ultimate point of the article is that in the NBA the goal is to make a player choose not to shoot the three point shot (in the article they want to measure this as a stat called 3 point avoidance). As several have mentioned, translation to the college game may not be straight forward, but I would guess that most D1 college basketball players have practiced enough and played in enough games that distractions don't make a difference. The extension of this conversation would then be to determine the outcome of the possession after a defender successfully makes a shooter defer from taking a shot. A defender selling out and jumping as high as possible with two hands in the air may make a shooter pass up a three point shot but obviously isn't a good overall strategy if the shooter dribbles around the defender for a layup.

Yes because not a season went by that when the Kansas Jayhawks came into town in the early- to mid- 2000's I didn't think: "This is a 50-50 game at worst." -

I think something that's being missed is how well we matched everything Ucla gave in this game. Our goal isn't going to be to win every game the rest of the season but the ability to stay in the game (no matter who was carrying us) means that we can pull out a lot of the B1G wins that you kick yourself over at the end of the year of you don't get. Nebraska (4-0) vs. UCLA (5-0) Game Thread
NoladrianSephier replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I disagree that we didn't adjust, we just took too long. They switched to zone and pulled away but we clawed back while they stayed in zone. I think Webster could have taken a little more initiative to take control after Ucla went to zone instead of having 3 or so minutes of empty possessions. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

I'm really happy with this team right now. Things aren't prefect but I think we could have closed on a weaker opponent (Alford was clutch plus some). Reading through the in game comments it seems we need some consistency in the rotation. The talent/athleticism is the best I've seen since I've really followed the team in the mid 2000's so I'm all for those who have advocated Miles for at least two more years no questions asked.
