  1. against better teams we really need to pass better than we are. seeing a lot of ill-advised solo play trying to get a shot off. totally understandable, but hope we work hard on this in conf play. passing is one of the great equalizers between talent mismatches.
  2. well, this isn't looking exceptionally competitive, but I can't see anything yet except pitino taking his time closing that game out
  3. when those time outs are over. worst part of basketball is the last few minutes.
  4. i'm waiting for louisville memphis to end.
  5. 7-2 UofO for those who haven't kicked into the b-cast yet.
  6. Yeah, that's hard on the eyes.
  7. It doesn't help that Oregon is the first team out of one of the polls, either. This is a really good team we're playing. The good news is we'll get a soft schedule before the conference begins. And then the butcher shop of the first 4 games, just like last year! It'll be fun!
  8. don't see that almost ever with women's teams. nice relic of the NBA iso years.
  9. and the thing is, the women could play quite a bit better still. been an odd year it seems for the women's team. thanks for keeping things up in here again row 6.
  10. that was a splashy entrance. welcome to the board, miguel...
  11. Yet another local print rag too cheap to hire an editor?
  12. now this is my kind of optimism. "Oh, Duke? Yeah, see, that's this community college in rural North Carolina--where there's no beer and chicks and stuff. Solid program, if no beer and no chicks is your thing. Sure, we can wait while you check out the 5 buildings on campus."
  13. I've really enjoyed following Ubel's college career. Epitomizes the best of college athletics in every sense.
  14. I used to shoot them like that after about two bottles of Nyquil.
  15. Awful night, that was. And for the life of me, I can't begin to tie it to basketball, so I'll leave it at that... Maybe I'll blow the dust off Shaved Fish today.
  16. I honestly don't see this as a zero sum issue as much as Norm does. I'm one of those people--seems like there used to be a lot more of us back in the day--that wants both programs to be relatively strong. One reason we don't have a lot of D1 players is that hoops isn't a big thing in the sporting culture of the state. But there was a time when volleyball wasn't, either. Or baseball. Two winning programs might help boost hoops participation at earlier ages, leading to the production of better homegrown players. There are also enough differences between the circumstances of the two programs--conference membership and BCS status not the least of them--that probably preclude a total overlap of recruiting.
  17. Duckies-72 Huskers-58
  18. I'm referring to the non conference schedule re: winnable games. as for the conference, the loss of frazier opens up a couple of opportunities. But anything above that will require near 50% shooting for us. We simply have no other way to score points besides made baskets. And that's not going to change now. It's just the team we have.
  19. well, considering the shooting, not especially surprising. And the Jays weren't all that sharp, either. So the formula for competitiveness for us looks simple: if Gallegos and one other player can get hot, we can stay in games. If not, we're toast. Not happy our guys stopped playing organized ball in the last 8 or so minutes, but it had to be a really frustrating night. All we can do is try to play better against Oregon and get to those last few winnable games.
  20. sucks that we went so cold as a team. always going to be an ugly result for us doing that.
  21. not all bad. we held CU to 28 points, which is pretty danged good defensively. if we can get a couple of guys unlocked for scoring, we might be able to hang in the second half.
  22. gallegos having a tough night, but I like that he's trying to take his cut of the scoring load. needs to stop just tossing up hail mary's tho.
  23. I'd be desperate enough for points to believe him, too. Wow, ice cold first half.
  24. lol at shavon. need all the luck we can get.
  25. gotta find someone who can nail that open shot tonight. still happy we're hanging around shooting like crap
