well.......shit. this one you just bronze and fawn over for a couple of days. I couldn't be happier for this team right now, and especially for Timmeh. Apparently we found a dose of antivenom just in time. -
this poor team is absolutely snakebit. they need all the support they can get from here on out. this one's going to be rough.
-
Ack. Me and my deeply embedded 16 game schedule-itis. Thanks for reminding me that we go 18 in the B1G Yes, I think I would bump this up 1 on both ends.
-
even before G-W, I thought this team was probably no better than 7 wins, no worse than 5. I think that's still pretty true. this conference is going to be filthy this season. no real title contenders, but virtually no scrubs, either.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 11 - Gardner-Webb
tcp replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
nothing attracts eyeballs like a flaming wreck! for those of us who were concerned about this team possibly getting knocked out after that brutal stretch in non conf play, this might be the answer to that question. But this is where coaching has to assert itself. When the mentality of a team is such that it can't win, or that things are never going to go their way, it's vital that coaches keep players as level-headed as they can. I'm not saying or implying that Miles and staff aren't at least trying to do that, but as a coach gets more desperate to turn around a career trend, that sense of anxiety is usually picked up by players. That's why coaches on hot seats usually wind up fired. It's sort of the event horizon of sports. A point at which the gravity captures you and you can never escape. This program is getting too close to that point right now. Still lots of season, and they can't ignore Southern, either, because if they manage to lose that one, they're totally cooked. Miles is going to get one more year regardless, and I think he should. I just hope his players understand that, too. Because if that seat really heats up, then the recruit spigot's turning off, and we're going to have to win with the guys we have for awhile. Here's to the men pulling out of the death spiral and getting this turned around for the 2d semester. -
Nebraska (5-4) vs. Kansas (8-1) Game Thread

i'm just glad this run is over. I think we'll be able to take a few games and upset a few teams if things are clicking. But I also think we were probably picked about right again this year. They've got a ways to go to get into the top half of the B1G. -

Rough game. Such a brutal schedule. I hope it doesn't break this team before they even start their conference run. -

Well......sh*t. -
I'm on the phone with Jobu and I brought a rooster with me. Jobu informs me I'll probably need about 10 roosters to make this happen.

Timmeh has to get the benefit of this core of players first. He's owed that much. But for the first time, you can kinda hear the scuffling of the match on the box. Replacing him, however, would be brutal now. No facilities bump. He's recruited his tail off. And most coaches are going to say, "jesus, that job ate Miles alive, and it's the first time he's failed. No way!". So that means finding a diamond among overlooked assistants or lower division head coaches, with few pipes to recruit. Oh, and in the B1G, too. The ADs in a rough place here. I don't envy the person who has to decide when enough is enough, knowing the kind of turmoil that would be in the wake of that firing.

I dunno. That's sufficiently crappy enough to merit it's own thread, right?

Creighton (8-0) vs Nebraska (5-3) Game Thread

Just gotta hope these players develop over the season, because once more, we'll be going into another season without the senior that kept things together. We always seem to be losing that one key player one season too early. Well, on to KU, and let's get that bloodbath over with and then start teaching these kids to be better players. -

Definitely not looking forward to KU. That's going to be a PTSD trigger right there. We have 3 players right now, entirely dependent on 2 of them never getting cold. That's a recipe for slaughter in the B1G. -

and apparently this will continue. It's just always something with this program. -

Well, McDermott is kryptonite to Miles. This series is getting Pelini-esque. -

the score is what's bugging me. Having the Jays at 51 with 8 minutes left would have been precisely the situation to win with. But how in god's name do we only have 39 points against this team? Going to be a frustrating season. -

he's so much like Tay when he was young. About same height. Infernal length and a nose for the block. Decent shot and range. Almost as quick, but not quite. -
