  1. the A&M loss had consequences. We were on the bubble going into that game, and a win puts us in good position for an at large that year. Had Doc made the tourney that year, so much would've been different (not good or bad, just different). this is just being a Husker fan. We have a long history of perking everyone up for a week or two and then proceeding to lay gigantic eggs. It's almost become a feature of the program at this point. "Nebrasketball: Sure, We'll Disappoint You, But At Least You Won't Owe Us Alimony When It's Over!" I will say that this is one of the more squandered opportunities we've had in awhile. You couldn't have asked for a better start, nor a worse reaction to that start. Kids need to not worry about the postseason and start focusing on becoming better basketball players.
  2. we're going to have to rediscover the concept of defense again if we're going to win this one. We're not going to win many games with the score creeping into the 80s and 90s. Still, a winnable game, as the last two were. This team is quickly running out of time and opportunities to make a push for some decent postseason play, so I'm hoping they'll come out a bit fired up for this one.
  3. opportunity continues its leisurely cruise down the river.
  4. only 4 down with a less than blazing half. gotta get people in this game during half. this one's definitely there to take.
  5. ugh. that 3. that one hurt.
  6. NU Jr's a legitimately good team, so no shame in dropping a game to them. We just don't have a real home court advantage that we can rely on for a few extra points, and until we do, good teams will play us very tough at home and win their share. good news is NU Jrs homecourt is one of the worst in the league, so we'll have a good chance to even this up there. It really is appearing that we go as Glynn goes. Tai gets his most night. But Glynn's contribution (or not) appears to be the difference in our wins. And NW looks like they concluded the same thing. Which means the rest of the league will, too. Will definitely need other players to take the pressure off that young brother before he winds up triple teamed or some ridiculous crap. Onward and upward, Big Red!
  7. mesmerizing. i'm pretty sure they're giving me subliminal instructions to eat a lot of fatty cheeses.
  8. not surprised we didn't budge. Technically, it's a game we were expected to win, at home, against a near-peer in rpi. We're supposed to win those games. At least according to the cold, hard calculus of algorithms. If we beat NU Jr., that'll probably bump us a few spots upward. Hopefully we'll hit some free throws for that sucker.
  9. hahaha! I prefer to think of it as "rational", but I can understand the confusion.
  10. lol god, what a horrible game for a win! i'm glad they won this, I really am. It was clutch, in spite of Taylor's best efforts twice to get that L. This team really has so much work to do before I get giddy. Remember, this was an Iowa team that was picked in that bottom layer of the conference hamper with us, too. Our home court advantage is sketchy as hell. Oh well, they finally survived the bright lights test. And I know I should be happy about that. And maybe I will be tomorrow.
  11. 8 of 19?!?!!?! there aren't enough drugs to smooth that one over.
  12. bloody ridiculous. if you can't make a doggone free throw in a game you don't deserve to win. sorry, but you don't. this came with a bow.
  13. ouch. taylor freezing over. masochist's paradise right now.
  14. can we make just one of a front end? just one?
  15. lol holy sh*t. taylor on the line? gott in himmel.
  16. probably a smart foul by iowa tonight. wow, nailbiter.
  17. bucket by iowa wins for them.
  18. they have to win this game. and they have to know it.
  19. unreal. to maybe lose a game because you can't make a bloody free throw. this game is so Nebrasketball.
  20. both CU and Purdue benefited directly from our week, so either one's plausible.
  21. We've been here before. And then the egg gets laid (lucky egg!). I've never been more into the oldest sports cliche of "taking it one game at a time" than I am right now.
  22. I seem to have dropped my jaw on the floor somewhere. What an awesome hoops week for NU. One of the very best in decades.
  23. so we're scheduling like a SWAC team?
