Favorite Husker Basketball Player Of All Time!
Art Vandalay replied to BigTate's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
You must have caught him on a good day :) Terry Badgett for the win. -
How does this years roster stack up to last years?
Art Vandalay replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think Williams starts, I am pretty high on him. Think he is a great fit, kind of like the athletic wings who could shoot that Fred had at ISU. Bigger, better shooter, and rebounder than JL. I love JL though and think he will play big minutes. Think Ulis starts at first but hope Lloyd takes that job at some point maybe even from the start. -

Sam is full of horrid takes, so this sounds about right -

Still seems odd that it’s luck when we win but other teams are not lucky when Walker has 8 TO’s or we shoot like crap. I get it we always expect the worse but we were a decent team last year. Even a bad call vs Purdue (how’s that not bad luck) from the NIT. We beat Iowa twice, that means we were the better team. I stand by the fact we were very unlucky last year. -

I have no idea how the idea we got lucky last year exists. We lost two starters, our best player missed 5 games, our true center missed tons of time, and Sam missed time. Guys who shot the 3 well most of their careers had off years (CJ and Bando). One of our prized recruits redshirted. Seems to me we got VERY unlucky and we still got to .500. Also in my dreams Lloyd wins the PG spot and is a poor man’s Jalen Pickett with a little more size. I agree with those who say he could be the difference. -
His body type and game remind me of George’s Niang. Maybe Fred can sell him on that type of role eventually. Do want.

Football is, hoops is 5/11 I think
-
Breidenbach in the portal? That would suck but can understand as the minutes might be scarce.
-
Think the Spain trip is in July so workouts start in June I would guess. I would save the spot for a late possible high level transfer or maybe a top high school kid decommits and becomes available.

And all but KT and JA have at least 2 years left

How close were we? = How close are we?
Art Vandalay replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I meant if Sam G had another year to play we would have a better shot with Nelson. It was hinted we have a connection with Nelson, just curious what that is besides Sam G. -

If he had another year I’d be more hopeful. Assumed there was another connection as you seemed pretty positive about him. -

So you’ve hinted this a couple times. What is the connection besides Sam? -
I hope not. I am hoping we see more of a balance attack like Fred had at ISU. I think KT, Lawrence, Williams, Gary, and Mast could all average double figures. Lloyd is also a wildcard

He is in the portal if he doesn’t stay in the draft -
We do not have too much talent for sure but the rest of that statement is just wrong
-
That is my hope as well, love a big PG. If Ramel is legit and can be our PG of the future I really like this roster. Probably a dream but maybe we are due.
-
Agreed, so not think we were lucky at all.
-
Or you could look at it another way. I think we have a starting 5 that can play anywhere. PG - Lloyd (just for argument sake) excellent size and was ahead of Lawrence before redshirting. Top 100 type talent who looks to have added strength in the RS year. Keisei - Every team would love a shooter like him Willams - an athletic 6’7” shooter from all three levels could play on most any other team Gary - part time starter on a sweet 16 top 4 SEC team so safe to say he can play on high level team Mast - Perfect post for what Fred likes to do. Many P5 team options Reserves - J Lawrence, recently listed as a break out candidate in the BIG and ave double digits down the stretch. Would have lots of P5 options That is 5 very good players and 6 if Lloyd is legit, that can play on a tourney team. Add the unknowns, Blaise stays healthy, WB takes a leap, We sign another guard (Ulis who I’m not big on but still was a starting BIG player on a tourney team), Allick who is being recruited by a final four team. Rice, athletic 6’7” shooter could be a contributor. Add another transfer who is high level. If 2-3 of those happen I like our chances. I get it we’ve been beat down but it’s not like we were that far off last year and we’ve added 2 real nice pieces and bring back a nice foundation.
-
Ha, he does the same for me even after 30 years. That guy has a memory
-
No way but Ali Baba’s might get it done, so much better
-
Seems like Kaluma is gone, Trey maybe, and Kalk probably coming back. If Trey and Kaluma leave, I would love it. They would have the pastiest roster in America
-
Would expect more will enter and then maybe some guys who put in for the draft will go back to college and transfer.

2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
Art Vandalay replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Hunter (and Saint) played lunch ball with us today. Was decked out in WF gear so that was disappointing but obviously makes sense with the commit. Good kid, wish him well but that jumper needs a lot of work -
Sallis going to Wake, so we will see who Fred goes after now
