OK it's time to settle down! Amy Williams has been our coach for three weeks and we are deciding whether or not her coaching style will fit our players? How about we keep a positive attitude and giver her at least a year to see how it all works out with in improving team chemistry which will have a big impact on how we do.
-
Unless I am assuming incorrectly I think the award was for Spring Sports and didn't include VB.
-
We definitely could use her as we will be losing Havers after this year and that would only leave 3 posts.
-
For several years we had more Highly skilled VB players in Nebraska then BB. That is starting to change. For whatever reason we didn't get Chatrice White 6'4'' post who was 2nd team all Big 10 this year. Also Kaylee Jensen 6'4" post was 2nd team all big 12 this year as a sophomore at Ok. St. as well. We lost out last to freshmen Kianna Ibis when she went to Arizona State and after an ACL tear last year was getting more playing time as she recouped. Az. St. coach said she has a bright future.

I also like following players that I saw in high school here in Nebraska where ever they go to college.

That's the $64,000 question. She is the fastest of all the recruits and plays for one of the top teams in the nation. I would see her playing the 2 guard as well as she is a good shot and has an excellent drive to the hoop. Could play some point guard. I hope her and Doyle both stay.
-
Wow! That's really interesting. A real eye opener. I wouldn't have guessed it was that bad.
-
A year or two ago NU'S volleyball program became the first college women's program in the nation of any type to turn a profit.
-
If Natalie does transfer I see Hannah Whitish as the two guard. We absolutely need to keep Kathleen Doyle for a point guard.

I totally agree with basketballjones previous comment and summary. The great coaches adapt to society's ever changing landscape. A prime example is our own John Cook. Several years ago he outlined the how young girls entering college have changed over the previous 10 years. What did he do? He realized after having people around him evaluate his inter personal skills that he would need to change in some of the areas. He said he did and we saw the successful results this past year.

When lawsuits are involved the details come out unless they are settled out of court. In Nebraska's case the lawsuit filed by Jan Bethea (past director of WBB operations) we may find out as that law suit moves forward. It will be interesting if it gets settled out of court as that would mean that the University/Yori had some culpability.

It's pretty simple as to how we got here if you follow the last four posts. I guess I didn't know we had rigid rules on what could be posted where. Norm I'm glad that this never happens to you on your posts.
-
I guess we're bored waiting to hear the news on which current players and commits are staying with NU.
-
In her comments after initially signing with Illinois it was obvious to me that she wanted to be a big fish in a smaller pond. She got to be a big fish but it wasn't much fun swimming in that smaller pond.

A lot of you guys are missing my point. My point is that as much in the way of facts or rumors that dribble out we will never know all the facts as we are not in the position of judge or jury to do so. The reason we won't know everything is that Coach Yori and our Athletic director reached an agreement and some laundry will never be revealed. I am a person who is a realist but tries to have an optimistic outlook on life. I was never uncomfortable with Coach Yori or what happened. Learn from the past but focus on the future supporting all the athletes that decide to stay. No hard feelings for any who leave but hope they all stay.
-
Everything I have read is that she is a complete player with great leadership abilities helping everyone around her play better.
-
Due to our of lack of point guards retaining Doyle is paramount. If she doesn't come I look for Coach Williams to find a recruit for PG position somewhere.
-
Time to move on Norm. We'll never know all the details which is good.
-
The thing I'm most excited about is the opportunity to turn around the team chemistry from the decline it was on. Every body who leads people knows how important that is. With great team chemistry teams play often times above their talent level although maybe attitude through thick and thin is the number one thing to look for in the talent equation. Coach Williams past teams have demonstrated that and I expect will continue here.
-
I totally agree with Dirrk. Let the new coach figure it out.
-
Assuming every one stays we have one open scholarship available unless Alicia Ostrander applies for and is granted another year.
-
The problem with today's society is that too many people have to have something to bitch about. It's not all about identifying villains and victims to be able to do so. Things beyond our control happen and we will never know all the reasons. That's life. Stay positive move on. Support the players and new coach. Staying negative is the worst way possible to help the program going forward.
-
TEAM CHEMISTRY! It was obvious we didn't have it this year. Maybe that's not all the coaches fault but they are in charge and have a lot to do in establishing it. What's done is done. Can't change the past but just learn from it. Any new coach realizes that a lot of healing will need to be done and the right hire will take advantage of a fresh start and I believe we will return to a team that is all together and has that CHEMISTRY! GBR

Ya, well, time will tell as it always does. I take the approach in life that everything happens for a reason. Time to put a positive spin on things and move forward.

I'm with you 100% cyinne. The fans who are still Pellini fans and dislike Eichorst for firing him and hiring Mike Riley need to wake up and smell the roses. Pellini was weak on class and tact and I was and continue to be thrilled with the hire of Mike Riley. I feel confident that our athletic director will make a hire that more then fills our needs and will continue the building of our WBB program that Connie Yori was a big part of. I think the last year or two as has been noted by several individuals have snow balled on Connie and an intervention was needed. Best of luck to her going forward and thanks for everything she did in building the program.
