  1. Assuming Rylie J. get a scholarship and with the recent commitment and transfer if my math is correct we will have two scholarships for 2017 with the two graduating seniors. One or two bigs would be great.
  2. Once the season starts we will have games, players and coaches performances to discuss. Yay!! Can't wait.
  3. One last reply and then I'm on to other things. In the past If my memory serves me right I believe I said that we will never know all the reasons for her departure. I have faith in our athletic director that many things were taken into account. Nobody in their right mind would arrive at that decision based on the last 2 years of a near 50/50 conference record especially with a great tenure to that point. I wish it would all have worked out differently and we would be discussing other WBB news but it didn't. Unfortunately life has many disappointments. This is another example.
  4. In life I look at how things are trending as I'm sure most coaches do as well and then make adjustments as needed. I believe that coach Yori had made some of those adjustments especially in recruiting but too many things came to a head which caused her to resign / be let go. Unfortunately in society today it's becoming "what have you done for me lately".
  5. Well I've followed Nebraska sports for 60 years including WBB since it started and have no relatives on any N/U team. I may be senile but don't think so. As I have previously posted I was a big Connie Yori fan and hold no ill feelings towards her tenure at NU. In my estimation and others as well things just got away from her on an escalating scale the past two years. I've managed a large number of people over the years in a manufacturing environment and team chemistry is just as important there as in sports. The person leading the team is the one ultimately responsible to make sure it's there. Some times easier said then done.
  6. All I'm saying is is there seemed to be a lot that affected the team chemistry last year. Some of it carrying over from the previous year. If we have the right head coach we will see a big improvement in that area. Time will tell it always does.
  7. Some thing that obviously affected team chemistry that never has been addressed much at lest publicly was when Rachel Theriot was disciplined by coach Yori a couple of times for what Yori described as an attitude situation. I don't want to resurrect anything other then we have a great opportunity to improve team chemistry and I think we substantially will.
  8. Just a gut feeling but I think we will see some of our players playing more then one position. That can present opportunities on match ups with our opponents. Last season we had basically one three point shooter due to the injuries of our senior guards. It looks like we will have several more good three point shooters going forward.
  9. You may be right on a step back this fall but if that happens I hope it will be a small one. In conference we were 10-8 and 9-9 the last two years so a step back could mean a losing conference record. I think we will see several players step up that had smaller roles in the past and hopefully avoid a losing conference season.
  10. Doyle,Cayton,Romeo? Can't seem to remember them. But I am getting old and memory may be a bit jaded.
  11. All my comments on this subject relate to the last 2 years. Were we going to break through that lack of depth situation? Maybe but we will never know. I expect when more players get an opportunity in games some will fail but some will be an asset to improving depth. I can over look mistakes by young players but they need to pick up consistency over their career.
  12. For the last two years Yori had to play players too many minutes including some with injuries. Some of this was due to defections. Who is responsible for creating proper depth. I think it's the head coach. Some will say it's just bad luck. I think not. One prime example was last year with Cincore. Started and played an excellent game and then didn't get off the bench in the next one.
  13. Good analysis HoopsNut. I wouldn't feel as bad about Doyle if she would have went anyplace but Iowa.
  14. So HB you put the entire blame on the administration and non on the head coach? Or did I misread your comments.
  15. I think that is a great approach. Be positive and support them in every way.
  16. Well Kearney man if that's the case we won't have to read any more of your posts. But alas not true.
  17. First of all let me say that I was always a big Connie Yori fan and supporter. I just feel the same as echoed by Sam Mckewon in an OWH article he wrote about Yori's leaving. If I remember correctly he said that in his opinion her progress had leveled off the past 2 years and was starting to trend downward. Maybe by adding Brit B. as a coach/ recruiting coordinator as well as the 5 new recruits she may have changed the trend. At this point we'll never know. What I do know is Coach Yori was paid 3/4 of a million dollars and was in total charge of the program. If there were issues with highly rated players leaving (2 last year and 2 this year) as well as the team chemistry then that falls on her. If we didn't have enough depth and had to play key players almost 40 minutes a game same thing. The head coach is in charge of the program and she made over 1/4 million more per year then our 3 time national championship volleyball coach. I supported Coach Yori and her players when she and they were here and I am supporting Coach Williams and her players going forward.
  18. Heh HB I never said the program was in a downward spiral. I just stated the obvious fact that we were in the middle of the pack. That may be OK for some but not others. As for Theriot and Clark as our point guard and backup I think we we put too much faith in the fact that they would be totally healed from very serious injuries. When both were lost for the season we had no back ups.
  19. Welcome to the forum HoopsNut. I agree totally with the buy in concept. We are obviously going through a transition, but that isn't all bad. The team performance in the Big Ten the past two years (10-8 and 9-9) speaks for itself. I will be interested in seeing what the positive effects of possible improved team chemistry can do over the next couple of years to move us up from the middle of the pack.
  20. Excited to see which of our 12 players rise to the top as everybody gets a fresh start. Will probably have a couple who maybe didn't previously get much playing time take a big step up. Sure hope we can develop some depth with our 4 newbies and healthy returnees.
  21. I'm with you 100 % Silverbacked1.
  22. Now we will find out what kind of fans we have. I think good ones who will help cheer our hard working team on.
  23. Iowa City is quite a bit closer to her home. In the past if we didn't consider Iowa the team we enjoyed to beat we sure will now. Excuse me while I go puke!
  24. At one time it was thought that Alicia may apply for a medical redshirt to get another year of eligibility after her season ending injury. Does anybody know the status?
  25. How about the novel approach of "Let's all get behind those players who want to be part of our program and spend less energy worrying about those who don't want to be". In the end Romeo wasn't forced out but decided there were more advantages to play else where.
