  1. He has a role, but it has to be the right game for his role. It’s so specific. But if it isn’t his game, we need to recognize that too.
  2. Our help D is much more active today and has gotten a lot of tips. We remembered how to defend a pick and roll which is a good sign.
  3. He keeps playing like this, he’ll hit it lol.
  4. We’ve looked good the entire time I’ve been watching! I got in about 10 minutes in. Lol
  5. Sounds like it’s a positive that I missed the first 10 minutes because of church.
  6. It’s one thing to have a bad non-con. SOS. But to have the dead last non-con SOS is almost comical.
  7. It’s not a bad bet considering our recent road woes. Also I remember last year’s debacle of a game there.
  8. Idk that I’m ready to make this statement already. We’re playing in one of the toughest (top 2) conferences in the country. A conference that will likely send more than half of its teams to the dance. A conference that will likely make up about 1/6 of the entire tournament field. Every game is going to be a grind. This team has a road win over Creighton, beaten UCLA, taken St Mary’s to the wire, and fumbled two very winnable conference games. We’re as close to 4-2 as we are 2-4. Our “worst” loss is to a team with 2 top 10 draft picks. We just need to get back to what got us to this point. Hard nosed D. Make teams uncomfortable. Make teams play OUR game. No shootout 80’s scores. It’s tough, but we can’t let the last three games overshadow our overall body of work. We can completely play ourselves out for sure. We’ve seen this movie before. But maybe this team is different.
  9. As bad as we’ve played the last 3, if the tournament were to start today, we’d be firmly on the bubble and likely in. So I slightly disagree with this point. The goal absolutely should be to Dance for this team — especially with the season we’ve had so far. We absolutely need to fix things and start winning. But it’s not pompous to talk about a team who should be dancing and frankly has done the work to give themselves the opportunity to dance.
  10. To add to this, if that’s the way the games going to be played, we need to start playing that way too. Match physicality with physicality.
  11. Re-Watching some of the game. Credit to Rutgers for answering nearly every mini run we went on. Now some of those answers were on wide open buckets but others were just plain tough shots.
  12. Of course all of this is moot if we don’t win.
  13. This thread is becoming more and more bubbly to the point we need to take a peek as what we need other teams to do (that would help us). Rutgers: go on a tear. They are 8 spots away from moving back to a Q2 game. Oregon St: win baby win. They beat Gonzaga yesterday! Now just 4 spots away from a Q1 win. Murray St & Hawaii: winning a bunch provides an opportunity for both to become Q2 games.
  14. It’s interesting in that our biggest offense production was from guys who were basically in the negative. I think this is another stat that just points to us needing to lock down on D. We aren’t going to “score” with the best of them.
  15. There are multiple times a game where he is open and passes up a shot to drive. This was one of those times. It’s almost as if he’s a drive first, shoot second type of mindset but his shot is pure enough he’s one of the guys I’d be ok with driving second and shooting first.
  16. Oregon St just beat Gonzaga, Murray St is on the verge of a Q2 win, and Hawaii was a true road game (something we struggle with). Sure they weren’t world beaters, but statistically those teams turned out better than I would have thought beginning of the year.
  17. I take this back— I’m mixing up the year after we danced with Copelands Sr year.
  18. This one will probably be one of those… get you to believe and then have your heart ripped out. Maryland 81 Nebraska 77
  19. One last thing-- one thing we had going for us last year on our resume was no blemishes. As of now... that's a Q3 loss.
  20. History has shown that we always follow up decent years with a dud. Year after we danced with Miles. Copeland/Palmer Jr senior year. Can this group change that stigma? Just so frustrated right now.
  21. Hawaii seems like a millennium ago. UCLA seems like ages ago. Oh how quickly the turn tables.
  22. A loss on Sunday places us firmly in the bottom 5 of the conference... record wise. I don't know what kind of come to Jesus moment the team needs to have... but it better be quick. 2-4 in conference, blown out multiple times, losing a 20 game home win streak to a fellow bottom dweller, and blowing a 15 point road lead has this season turning sour quick.
  23. This has all the feelings of the year after we danced with Miles. Started off with a bang, beat CU in the non-con, took a complete nose dive after Christmas.
  24. At 2-4 and losing to a bottom tier team in the conference-- you go from NCAA tournament talk to making the Big 10 tournament talk real quick.
