So Clemson loses last night to Boston College. They are a consensus 5-6 seed. They finish the year limping in at a whopping 1-3 in March with losses to Notre Dame, Wake Forest, and Boston College. Their lone win was Syracuse at home. Their metrics are now SOR 37, KPI 17… 27 Avg BPI 30, Pom 36… 33 Avg NET 35 They should be seeded right around us. There’s no way they’re a 5-6 seed and we’re an 8-9. My guess is they’d be an 7 and us an 8 based solely on NONCON SOS. However, we win 1-2 and we’ll be seeded ahead of them. Mark it.

Wake Forest in a must win battle with Notre Dame right now. Up 46-39 with 16 left.

Today and tomorrow are usually the days where the P6 jobs start to open up. The teams typically looking for coaches aren’t playing past Thursday in most instances.

It’s because they’re on the Purdue side of the bracket. The games are (and have always been) played in order of how they appear on the bracket starting with the 1 seeds in the first game. 1V8/9 plays first which is why 4V5/6 would be next. Our state basketball tournaments run like this as well. Sometimes a class will have the 1V8 and 4V5 in the 9/10:45 slots and the other half of the bracket in the late evening slots which leads to less rest time for the 2/3 seeds.

Here’s our updated team sheet heading into the B1G tournament. Peep those result based metrics which align with the 6-7 seed range. Our predictives still align with the 8-9 seed range however. Non-Con SOS has improved from about 325ish to under 300 now!

Did You Know? Every team to win the national championship in the KenPom era has two main criteria that they meet… Top 40 in Adj O Efficiency AND Top 25 in Adj D Efficiency Nebraska’s numbers? AdjO - 42 AdjD- 26 We’re so close to meeting the criteria for both those metrics it’s crazy.

The two teams played just 1 time in conference in the 2nd game of the conference season (Jan 6). CofC won that one 93-87. Stony Brook built a 1st half lead of 15 before being up just 7 at half. After going back and forth for a bit on the 2nd half, Stoney Brook took a 5 point lead with 7:22 remaining but gave up 26 points in the remaining 7:22 to lose.

I’d rather see people pack PBA for a watch party and the rail yard go nuts when we win our first tournament game. Lol!

I just think it’s funny that they have a huge belief that making it to Sunday is very possible against teams they’re a combined 0-5 against this year lol. I know they won like 4-5 consecutive games to end the year, but I still wouldn’t be feeling good about my draw when it includes 3 straight teams I haven’t beaten this year.

They actually go region by region starting with the #1 overall seed. So Purdue will play ______. Then the 8-9 game in that region. Then the 5-12 in that region, and so on.

I think they have the majority of the field picked by Friday night… however, I don’t believe final seeds are set by then. They may have an initial round of seeding done, but they will make line changes through Saturday and possibly into Sunday as well.

Over on the IU board, they are really excited about their draw, their “likely” scenario of playing on Saturday, and are talking possibly sneaking into Dayton. Lot of confidence for a team who was swept by both Penn State and Nebraska. I guess 4 wins against middle of the pack B1G teams will do that to you.
