FWIW, Templon still has us in his bracket entering today. A lot will still hinge on auto births (cheer for 1 seeds) and who decides they’re “above” the NIT. Texas Tech is already out. UNC and Michigan have been rumored to possibly pass on a trip as well.

Texas Tech announced they will NOT play in the NIT. Juwan Howard said they would "talk about it" on if they wanted to play in the NIT. Two teams that would have been in ahead of us.

Taking a perennial Power 5 bottom feeder to an NCAA tournament (their only one for the past 25 years)... and taking a perennial bottom feeder who has never been above .500 in conference EVER to a 10-8 conference record and first day bye is a pretty good resume. Says he can build wherever he goes.

I will say, the loss kind of spoiled conference tournament week for me. I was pumped to have games on all day this week and next. Now I don't even want to watch. I'll be pumped for March Madness, but just can't get into the conference games now.

The CBI would probably only be helpful if we made an effort NOT to play Sam, Derrick, etc. I don’t want DW and Sam to go out with their last memory being the CBI, but maybe they are down for it?

This is Nebrasketball... unfortunately. You're talking about the ONLY team in the B1G to finish in the Top 4 of the league and not get a bid to the big dance.... and then also get a road game in the NIT. The committee has rarely ever thrown us a bone, I won't hold my breath that they start now.

I'm a bit surprised at some of the Kieta conversations. In his limited action this year, I thought he was pretty serviceable. Had some decent moves on the offensive end and was a big help on the glass. His injury really hampered his ability to continue to develop this year. However, get a grad transfer big to complement him and I think we have a great 1-2 punch with Oleg continuing to provide spot minutes.

Honestly, I would compare our chances of making the NIT to the women's chances of making the NCAA's. Should we be in... probably. Are we going to make it-- likely not. However, the people who do these bracketology things seem to think that both still have a chance.

Andy Katz mentioned on the broadcast last night that there might be some changes to NIL for overseas players. Something to keep an eye on he said. Whether he’s in the know or is repeating a rumor, I have no idea.

In the day and age where anyone and everyone can transfer… hits beat to not run anyone off. Guys will probably leave, but you’re probably right that we don’t need to force anyone. Where would this year have gone had Keisei followed most of the advice he got at the end of last year?

For all of the fun that was this past month, we’re still 0-4 in conference tournaments under Fred, haven’t been to the post season, haven't finished a season above .500, etc. Can’t let recency bias cloud the overall picture. He definitely earned himself another year and I do want him to succeed, but he’s still got to get the job done next year. We can’t take a step back.

Funny, but so true. We went from “coaches you want” threads to “why the NET sucks” threads, to “bubblicious” threads to “seasons over” threads all in the span of 30 days.

After all that February fun… after all we did… for it to come to a screeching halt is just… gut wrenching.

I guess I’d take post season or bust, but honestly I’m almost to a NCAAs or bust point. I was post season or bust this year… the injuries and how we fought back made me change my mind a bit. But it’s gotta happen next year.

Will be a shame if that’s how Keisei’s time ends here
