Refs seem to have a 'possession arrow' of their own. Who's the foul on this time! -
A good article including several video clips. (the vido clips are things of BEAUTY; watch full-screen. Northwestern game, 2nd chance Put-back off Briedenbach miss; Sam gets absolutely FLATTENED by NW #2 driving to basket (I thought they were in a wrestling match; #2 pinned Sam to the floor) Sam passes to Derrick, immediately cuts to basket, for a pass back from Derrick = Score! Maryland clips; Sam gets rebound from own missed lay-up; drives to basket & Scores. Several good plays in Maryland clips. Job guarding Jahmir Young, preventing game-winning basket; Positioning himself to take a charge in OT (turnover); Picking up the ball Griesel jarred loose from Maryland player driving to the rim; and Win Sealing steal & lay-up near the end of OT.) Thanks Jacob!

Husker Ladies win by 33 Points; 90-57 Probably the most complete game by the Huskers since the 90- 67 Win over Maryland on Dec 4th. Shooting FG's 59% vs 34% for Illinois, Won the Rebound battle 44-24, Points in the Paint: 46-18, and controlled the turnovers in the 2nd half, 9 vs 6 for Maryland for the full game. In addition Huskers were heating up the 3-point game, 10-24 (42%) vs 6-26 (23%) for Illinois. FINAL STATS: (Every one of the Husker Starters was in Double Figures!!! )
-
Huskers by 21 (68-47) at the end of Q3! (Illinois with a buzzer-beater trey to end the Qtr) (Video review made Illinois last bucket a 2 instead of a three)
-
Halftime. Husker Ladies by 10 points (45-35). Huskers' offense is showing some mojo. Nice moves in the paint. Alexis with some nifty moves under the basket, foiling the double team's forest of arms. Huskers shooting 67% vs 45% for Illinois, also winning the Rebound battle, but turnovers still problematic. Here are the Stats:

Stats at the end of One Qtr of Play. Husker Ladies by 3; Treys keeping Nebraska in the Game in 1Q (4 made vs 1 for Ill)

This whole thing is nothing against Kate Cain, who is an amazing talent in her own right; but can we honestly say that she reached her peak. Could she have achieved greater heights with different coaching? One could argue that her first year was close to being her best, if not her best. It is an honest question. I'm not so sure, but I believe that a talent like that deserves the best coaching we can provide! Indeed, we must, if we expect to attract top-tier talent.

IIRC Jeff was saying Monica Czinano (almost) never dribbles, the way you defend against her is to be physical and have to bump her (which we never seemed to get the hang-of)

I can't believe no one has started a Thread on Sam GREAT LISTEN! (Good on the Eyes, Too!)

I was just about to say don't ignore Jake Muhleisen. Kent's narrative is superlative, but Jake's knowledge of the game and program as a former player is also most informative. Kent's great narration frees Jake to concentrate on watching what is really happening on various plays, and explaining to the audience, and integrated seamlessly with Kent's narrative. As you said: Great Chemistry. What Husker Fan wouldn't want to listen to Kent!!!! (It's not too difficult to sync, you can usually pause either the audio or visual until the play matches (I find it's easiest to match by stopping one or the other when either team makes a basket, until the other catches up to that point). (double-click or copy the date (in blue) to open in a new tab for video. btw: good video with Derrick doing a double-touch to get the tip)

Nice work @12dozen . (clapping) I distilled some of your table date for easier comparison. I guess we can conclude Megan Gustafson is the more efficient player (at least as far as scoring, but not as good a blocker - i.e. keeping the opponent from scoring). Maybe a more important question is progress of each through their careers. I'll try to develop a similar table for Kate Cains progression when I get time. (Sorry for the Truncated format., the program leaves a little bit to be desired in it's editing capabilities regarding tables. (or lack of capabilities )
