What a diffference it makes when your shots go IN! Lady Huskers on a 12-0 run. (but it's a little too late.
-
We Just don't eem to be able to stay with and finish on those loose balls. Too Excited, lack of focus??

If your name is Clark you can get away with a lot (of chicken wings), etc. Jax or Issie, not so much!
-
Better Defense, or schemes? Seems like we are always trying to get the ball to Alexis in the middle of a forest of arms. Besides Czinano is a very experienced, smart player. Edit: And Well-coached (tks @All About the Corn) (sorry, I didn't see your response @redsteve)

HOLY MOLY! Iowa leads by only Seven at the Half (33-40) I thought we were going to get MURDERED! (and we had our chances to take the lead in Q2) Halftime Stats:
-
Tied at 31 all (@ 4:25) Matt says Record Crowd at PBA to watch the Lady Huskers. (12,000 fans - Matt says there are not many empty seats)
-
I just can't see how we are within 3 points (25-29) with the way Iowa is playing!
-
Referees seem a little discombobulated!!!

Speaking of that, It's difficult for me to see why you chose my post to quote in your response to someone saying MM was a "big disappointment.' I never said that Mendelson was a disappointment, big or otherwise; Nor Callin Hake either. I am pleased with both who I think have good futures as Huskers and I look forward to seeing them both on the floor.

Disappointing Loss 92-95

You Called it! Play where Issie gets wiped out is under review. Intentional foul on Micheaux, her 4th foul. Minny with FOUR players with 4 fouls.
-
Back-and-forth, See-Saw 3-Point Game at the end of Q3. Minny, who is in foul trouble, by 3 pts. (64-67)
-
Husker Ladies s come on strong to start the 2nd Half, cut Minny's lead to One Point (37-38)
-
Minnesota by seven at the Half (29-38) (Gophers with another Buzzer-Beater to end the Half - Mara Braun) (Minnesota's Largest Lead was Twelve Points) Minnesota not looking that impressive, but is executing better than Huskers. Halftime Stats:
-
Huskers by one point at the end of the first Quarter. (Braun with a bucket to end the quarter). Stats:
-
I can't understand why there seems to be so many missed lay-ups (Issie has missed two so far this game). Is it excitement, or the heat of the moment (I know some are contested shots but a lot are uncontested). But even looking at those that go in more than half the time they bounce around on the rim a lot indicating they're not hitting the 'sweet spot.'

( From the Game Page) Scouting The Minnesota Golden Gophers Lindsay Whalen leads a young group of Gophers in her fifth year as Minnesota's head coach. In a season when teams are loaded with experience across the conference, Minnesota features a starting five loaded with freshmen and sophomores. Some Players to Watch True freshman Mallory Heyer joins sophomore Alanna Micheaux as the only Gophers to start all 25 games this season. Micheaux, a 6-2 forward, is averaging 14.1 points and a team-best 8.3 rebounds, while Heyer, a 6-1 forward, has contributed 11.9 points and 7.2 boards. Heyer, who was the No. 55 recruit in the nation according to ESPN out of Chaska, Minn., also has hit 32 three-pointers. Another true freshman, 6-0 guard Mara Braun, (Think we tried to recruit her ) leads the Gophers with 14.8 points per game while connecting on a team-best 49 threes (.336). Braun, who was the No. 28 player in the nation by ESPN out of Wayzata, Minn., has added 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals. Sophomore guard Maggie Czinano, (you may have heard of her older sister, plays for Iowa ) recently joined Minnesota's starting five. She is averaging 5.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She ranks fifth on the team in scoring with 8.5 points per contest and a team-best 1.9 steals. Another graduate guard, Mi'Cole Cayton, is in her seventh collegiate season after spending two years at Nebraska. League Play In Big Ten play, Minnesota is averaging 66.6 points per game, but opponents have dissected the Gopher defense for 80.2 points per contest. Minnesota has produced one of the top rebounding totals in the conference (41.5 rpg) but they have averaged 19.9 turnovers per league game and carry a minus-6.5 turnover margin. Minnesota is shooting just 27.1 percent from three-point range in the league, and 38 percent overall from the field, while Big Ten opponents are hitting 45.4 percent of their field goals including 33.6 percent of their threes. A Little History Although women's basketball was not a full varsity sport at Nebraska until 1975-76, a women's team from Nebraska suffered its first defeat at Minnesota in 1904 after going unbeaten in 1897 and 1903. Two weeks after the first meeting with Minnesota, Nebraska beat the same team in Lincoln.

Nebraska (12-14) vs. Butgers (16-9) Game Thread
Red Don replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Ho-Hum, Huskers Win (again): 82-72 (writhing around on the floor grasping at my heart) FINAL STATS: Stats are unbelievably even, though the Huskers were in a dominating position for the 2nd Half to the end (lead time 22 mins to 13 mins). Critical differences seem to be made treys (12-8; two-pointers were even at 20 each) and Points-in-the-paint (40-32). Everything else seems to be pretty even, or off-setting. -
