42 seconds off the clock between ball going through net and that BS foul call on watson. Horrific rule. -

Great catch and it was complete BS. It is a horrific rule that allows that to take place. Ran 11 seconds off the clock before he even grabbed the damn ball. It really pisses me off bad right now. Wish you hadn't mentioned it. My blood is boiling after watching it back. Completely intentional. At what point can he just not pick the damn thing up for 20 seconds? My goodness. -
It always seems hard to replace senior leadership at the time. But then the next class are senior leaders. I think we are a net gain in relation to our competition. I really admire Parker and how he became an effective player for us. He played an important role on the 2014 dance club. But at the end of the day, he is very replaceable. Shileds not so much. But we won't sacrifice a tremendous amount of talent at the position. I expect Webster to be a bad man next year.

Nebraska (16-17) Vs. Maryland (24-7) Game Thread

Wish our will hadn't been broken for a short spell in the first half. Other than that, what are you going to do. We got beat by a Maryland team that cannot possibly play any better on offense. And we were in the game with a minute left until that BS call on the rebound. And I am not one that bitches about officiating very often. We still were going to probably lose the game, so not worth over blowing that call. It is a credit to the team to keep playing. And it shows that 3 in 3 days is not that big a deal and is overplayed by the media. -

It is a huge mental conflict for me. I despise long two point shots more than anyone in the world. Yet he makes them. -

Frustrating. Our will got broken for about 5 minutes which can happen with a lot of young guys. Cap tip to Maryland. Damn they played a good half of offensive basketball. I think we need to try and let White gunsling us back in the one. If he can nail three or 4 right away we will get energized. -
Yeah the lane is an eye sore. Amazing game though.

We Have a Game Today Folks Vol. 1 Issue 3
royalfan replied to hskr4life's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It is a little bit overblown I think. Georgia played 4 games in 3 days one year when there was a tornado. -
Easily rather play Michigan. That being said, the size issue should not be quite as big a problem as it has been. We have not had even a mediocre defensive gameplan against them yet. If we play our standard d, with hard agressive doubles that make them uncomfortable we can beat that team. The far bigger issue is Michigan St.

Yeah, which is why I don't think it is a time to sit guys with two fouls like I said in the other thread. We have got to do anything and everything to be ahead or very close the entire way. Once it gets away, we aren't likely to have the energy to come back. Energy won't be a big problem as long as we are engaged in the game, like you mentioned.

good point.

First game today he said his son told him after last night's game, " I need to defend." Dakich says, my response was "And tell Noah about the flood.

We Have a Game Today Folks Vol. 1 Issue 3

And if we do get a little foul trouble on White and or Shields, Miles cannot afford to keep sitting them the entire half like he has all year. On his radio show, he was asked about this and he said he doesn't necessarily believe in it like some coaches. Yet he has done it every single time. And multiple games got away from us as a result. We cannot allow this one to get away from us as a result of this strategy. If they foul out, then they foul out. Deal with playing without them at that point. But we need our best guys playing big minutes to beat these good teams. That being said, we did get away with it last night sitting White with the two fouls. -
We can dream. Unfortunate reality of the situation is that is is currently about a 1 in 300 chance per Vegas odds. One dollar moneyline dog parlay on the last three pays 215 bucks.

Words can't explain what happened here.

Got clarification during Michigan game. It is when the ball is all the way through the net, not when it hits the ground. -
Incredible game

Lot of reasons to root for Michigan in this one. 1. Indiana not the best candidate to play if we make the finals. 2. Could help the Big 10 get another team in the dance if Michigan wins 3. Crean is a douche

The new B1G tournament format is crap
royalfan replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
If this were a deal where this is the final event of the season I would agree with Pimp. It should be a normal bracket in that case. Four day event. Thursday you would have 6 games. 3-14 4-13 5-12 etc so it is cut down to the standard 8. However, I think the Big 10 has to do something similar to what they are doing. It protects some of our better clubs from four in four. That grind often seems to carry over to the dance the following weekend. Better to have our conference teams a little more fresh. When the thing is a week earlier when it is in NYC, I wouldn't mind going to a more standard bracket. -
There is no place here for a "winter sports" discussion. So feel free to move this where it is deemed appropriate. I just want to give a shout out to the Husker Wrestling team. We wrestled an amazing tourney at the Big 10 championships. It is the toughest wrestling conference in a landslide and we held up amazingly well. The way the scoring works at nationals a week from now, we probably cannot hang in there, but it is awesome that we are one of only a few teams that qualified the entire team. I am one of the few that is a huge wrestling fan in addition to basketball. Keep an eye on them next weekend while the dance is going on. We have a really good wrestling program.

Exactly 2 years ago I rushed the court against Wisconsin.

Easily the best sporting event I have ever attended. I don't think it is feasible for that type of energy to every be replicated. It was something else. Never seen so many people that didnt' know each other high fiving and giving hugs to strangers as I did after that one. We had to go have a couple just to digest the entire thing. And it was kind of quiet as we all processed what just happened. I will never forget that bomb Petteway made early in the game to go up by 7 or so. Epic moment. -
2017 PF David Wingett -> Memphis -> S. Dakota St

I went to that one. I agree that he is in the right place. Surprisingly, UNO did a good job of defending him. -
uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: volume 8, no. 33
royalfan replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Best game the staff coached on defense all year. And it isn't close. Wisconsin couldn't play much worse, but we created at least some of it. Hell of a job by the staff. I assume Molinari had a lot to do with the scheme. If that is the case, he gets a big thumbs up. -
Don't even remotely see a comparison of Lue and Watson on my end. The quickness is night and day. But this is an instance I would gladly eat a very large bowl of crow.

Survive and advance. Miles answered the call I was asking for. Best game our staff coached all year. It may take a similar effort against Maryland. The main thing is to double aggressively. We did that tonight better than any game all year. This is how we can beat Purdue by the way in a potential final. We have to mean business when we double. Cause havoc. We did tonight and Benny Parker showed tremendous leadership on defense right from the get go. A couple times Shields just said "screw it" I have to go double. He did it with conviction. I am not terribly well versed on Maryland. But I know they will take some dumb shots. We need to identify who we don't want to take what and protect the paint again and see what happens. It may require a White heater. Certainly going to need him to play a little better to win the next couple tilts. We also need to be rooting hard for the Buckeyes in the game before. We can beat that team. Michigan St. will be a handful. Miles needs to rise up again. He needs to coach better than tonight. He needs to get in a zone of pushing all the right buttons. He has it in him. Good night all. Congrats on the win tonight.
