  1. Just down a strong one...you'll be fine!
  2. Maybe she'll miss the bus. One can hope.
  3. It disgusts me that officials continue to let teams like Rutgers play the way they do simply because they have that reputation. Bottom line is when you play that physical, you foul. Pretty much every possession. It's nearly impossible to play against that type of physical play because you never have any freedom of movement. Constantly held, hacked, shoved, etc. It simply should not be allowed. Great job ladies to beat the thugs.
  4. Choo Choo Trains 78 Nebrasketball 70 Suggestions to HuskerFever if you ever need any ideas for bonus points: - Pick the opposing player who will have a career high against Nebraska. Seems to happen about every game. - Within 1 minute, predict the length of the scoring drought that will ultimately bury Nebraska.
  5. Yes, I know that. But, that has not fixed the recurring problem that they oftentimes think they can throw the ball through 3 defenders as if they were not there or that they can throw a lazy pass across the top of the key when the defender is obviously closely guarding or overplaying the intended recipient. This has been going on for years. So, either they are not (or have not historically been) seeing that kind of defensive pressure from the men's practice squad or they simply are not totally accepting that there are limitations to what is possible on a basketball court, either due to the laws of physics or due to their own lack of elite athleticism that you initially pointed out.
  6. Great post. The bolded part is the problem with this program the last several years. My thought is they don't ever see the quickness and athleticism in practice that they eventually will face in a game, so they get away with it in practice and think they can do it in games. Too many inexplicable and inexcusable turnovers is the result. That being said, congratulations to the ladies on a big win. It is nice to see that there is still a Cornhuskers' athletic program that shows some heart. NW obviously thought they could sleepwalk their way to a win and except for the FG resulting from the horrible inbounds turnover at the end of the 3rd quarter, they quite literally could not hit the broad side of the barn for 10 minutes. That was certainly enjoyable to watch as the entire NW team seemed to carry themselves with an entitled attitude. Nice to shove it back in their face.
  7. That clown was the biggest whiner I've ever seen. At one break late in the game, he was even whining after a questionable call went his way.

  9. Just another year of Nebrasketball. Lather, rinse, repeat. An entire team that is wholly incapable of consistently making shots. Doesn't matter where on the court they come from - inside, outside, FT line.

  11. Ahhhh, good ol' 'Sack' and the days of the 2-car garage shorts!
  12. Regarding Yvan, as many have mentioned, he doesn't have great hands and doesn't seem to have a natural 'feel' for the ball when in his hands. He seems to be incapable of going to the rim with the ball in one hand. I wonder if he has small hands for a big guy. Almost every attempt for him involves dribbling in traffic and gathering himself to jump or, in lieu of dribbling, bringing the ball nearly to the floor and gathering himself before jumping for the shot. Any advantage he may have had with an open hoop is lost in all that effort. He also seems to always have his dominant, right hand on top of the ball with his left hand supporting the ball when trying to shoot near the hoop. It's near impossible to shoot that way because if it doesn't get blocked that hold on the ball forces you to push the ball at the basket like a pass rather than a shot. One needs to be playing 2 feet above the rim and dunking on a regular basis with that approach. Also, with as much 'down-before-up' effort as he generates pre-shot, there is literally no way to have any control of the release and the chance of the ball going in really boils down to dumb luck. I hope since he's still fairly young and hasn't played a ton of ball before he can improve in this area, but at this point and against the competition he will face, it seems unlikely. I do credit him for hustling, grabbing some rebounds and banging with the big boys. Probably need to accept that that is what his positive contributions are going to be. Regarding the game: Good: Attacking the paint; ball movement; good defensive effort most of the game; McGowens being aggressive and scoring; Banton - he's fun to watch play; Allen playing much, much better within the framework of the offense (still took several questionable 3's early in shot clock). Not so good: 3-point shooting again (at least they didn't launch 40+); free throws. Bad: Defensive rebounding (they're going to get murdered in conference play). Keep on improving.
  13. Despite the best efforts of the Three Stooges. UVA got all the calls down the stretch.
  14. Pretty much when he touches the ball, I'd say. He forces some horrible shots and the offense does not flow well when he's in the lineup.
  15. What we witnessed is the down side of an offense that relies so heavily on 3 pointers. When you don't have proven, consistent, reliable shooters (which, by definition is Nebrasketball), you're going to struggle in many games. 2/3rds of fg attempts being 3 pointers is not going to be a successful formula for this team. Just don't have the dead-eye shooters needed. I'm afraid we're going to see a lot of games the rest of this year remarkably similar to this one as every team is going to try to replicate the defensive plan executed by Nevada. That being said, I don't think the team is this bad at shooting - they obviously shot much better yesterday against a crappy team. They just had a terrible game today. Make a couple more shots and you win the game (realistically, should have won by 10 or 15 with all the turnovers Nevada committed). But, the vast majority of possessions were 5 guys standing outside the arc with very little movement, very little threat of attacking the lane and hoisting up bad 3 pointers (this, of course, also contributed to very little chance of offensive rebounds). They did get some good looks at times, but just couldn't make anything. Don't know if the game plan wasn't executed very well, but you would think a coaching staff led by someone with Hoiberg's reputation could scheme something to get some reasonable looks in the paint from time to time, especially with as whistle-happy as the Three Stooges were in the second half. Couple of other things that really hurt IMO: Allowing No. 4 to score 16 points on perfect shooting in the last 10 minutes of the first half. Oooof. The 6 or 7 fouls called on Nebraska in about a one-minute stretch early in the second half. I felt that limited the defensive aggressiveness and obviously caused a lot of lineup juggling. No. 25 getting to the basket at will because it was a foregone conclusion that an immediate whistle was coming no matter what happened in reality. Positives to take away: Played like dog doo against a decent team and had the lead in the final minute.
