  1. Turgeon: "I don't think we were very good. We really weren't into it."
  2. Glynn Watson went 2-for-22 in a five-game stretch in late January-early February 2019. The Huskers lost all five and found themselves on the outside-looking-in at the NCAA Tournament.
  3. For reference, the only Iowan who played even remotely significant minutes for Hoiberg at ISU was recruited walk-on Bubu Palo, who started three games in Hoiberg's first (disastrous) season and then saw his minutes decrease as the team improved to an NCAA Round of 32 and Sweet Sixteen team the next two years. As a freshman, Palo played in 32 games, starting 3. As a junior, he played in 21 games because he broke his wrist. As a senior, he played in 17 games, in part because he was suspended for half the season. His minutes per game decreased from year 1 to year 2, and from year 2 to year 3.
  4. How do Banton's skills relate to PG?
  5. Bohannon is back, but I doubt Garza will be. Wieskamp could also bolt.
  6. Not being able to rebound. Also, the talk of Arop redshirting should be shifted, in my opinion, to "Should Yvan redshirt?" We have Stevenson and Walker coming eligible, with Mayen coming in for next year. Cross and/or Arop should be able to provide 10 decent minutes a game behind them, so why not give Yvan a chance to grow up and learn the game? If he sits out his 18-year-old season, then that gives him a chance to play as a 21-year-old senior, which is just about right. Of course, this all presumes he'll still be around in four years. Or one.
  7. Every time I see Garza vs. Yvan on the block, I think "How is it that we have a 17-year-old high school junior from France guarding the nation's best big man, a 21-year-old college junior from Dorktown?" Then I think about next year.
  8. I have Rosanne Cash tickets instead. Starts right after game ends. They're warning about traffic snarls.
  9. 4-of-4 from the FT line ...
  10. Pretty sure the hoop was smaller then.
  11. FT percentages for our three JUCO commits: Tominaga 41-of-49 for 83.7 percent Mayen 48-of-57 for 84.2 percent Allen 145-of-161 for 90.1 percent Our top three FT shooters by number of attempts this year: Mack 50-of-87 for 57.5 percent Cheatham 55-of-85 for 64.7 percent Burke 35-of-65 for 53.8 percent The only players with percentages higher than 65 percent are Thor (69 percent), Easley (69) and Kavas (68), but they have combined for a total of only 64 attempts on the season, and Kavas is now an empty-the-bench late-game sub. Career FT percentages of our three transfer sit-out players: Stevenson 68-of-113 for 60.3 percent Walker 15-of-44 for 34.1 percent Banton 19-of-34 for 55.9 percent
  12. Do they shoot FTs at the combine?
  13. I'll be there. Anyone else? DM me if you are and we can have pre-game cocktail. Strike that. We have Roseann Cash tickets that night, so unlikely to do both. Still up for a pre-game drink, though.
  14. Teddy still shooting 41 percent from 3-point land and 91 percent from the line (92 percent in the last 12 games).
  15. Still can't believe we beat Iowa. With this team? How awesome was that?
  16. Cross and Yvan are caught in a no-win position, using up a year of eligibility with very little chance for success. I posted this list of big men in another thread, but I forgot to add a few other names: Mike Watson 24 years old Jon Teske 22 years old Matt Haarms 22 years old Derrick Walker 22 years old (will be 23 on Nov. 9, so for most of his junior year, 24 as a senior) Shamiel Stevenson 21 years old (will be 22 in April, so will be 22 for his junior year, 23 as a senior) Giorgi Bezhanishvili 21 years old Micah Potter 21 years old Myles Johnson 21 years old Xavier Tillman 21 years old Nate Reuvers 21 years old Luka Garza 21 years old Daniel Oturu 20 years old Kaleb Wesson 20 years old Kevin Cross 19 years old Yvan Ouedraogo 17 years old It's difficult to imagine being 17 and going against future NBA players who are at least three, and usually four or fives years older than you are, and most of whom have three to five inches in height and often more in wingspan. Bezhanishvili played as a freshman last year at age 20. Yvan won't be 20 until his senior year if he doesn't redshirt here. Was there some reason we had to get him here this year? Was he recruited elsewhere? And without him, what's our record? Maybe one game worse?
