Penn State is led by a senior point guard who isn't that great of a shooter but continuously shoots anyway because someone has to. Does this sound familiar? Frazier is a bit more involved with the rest of the team than Spencer as he's constantly a threat to put up a double-double given his high assist rate...heck, the 6-1 Sr. leads the team in rebounds! While you typically match up PG vs. PG you have to hope that B-Rich draws the defensive assignment here as Frazier would probably end up shredding Bo.
Welcome to BiG Worst Case Scenario Day
When you looked at the schedule at the beginning of the year for the BiG for the BiG Red, it seemed like there might be a chance we lose our first four games before meeting up with the only team predicted to finish worse than us. That scenario has occurred and threatens to put the Huskers down 0-5 against a team that somehow destroyed Purdue and gave Indiana all they can handle. Usually there are more people on the opposing team to highlight but really it's Tim Frazier and a rotating group of players....almost a big Husker like in their constant lineup changes.
Penn State is one of the worst shooting teams in Division I.....inside the arc...outside the arc....at the charity stripe...they're simply dreadful. However, the entire team is one of the better rebounding teams in the country despite their lack of a dominant inside presence. The Nittany Lions win simply by taking more shots than you given the extra possessions they acquire off the boards. The Huskers need to focus on keeping Penn State off the boards and taking advantage of their aggressiveness in order to score some easy baskets in transition. While on defense Nebraska needs to keep the ball out of Frazier's hands and/or make his life as miserable as possible. While on offense the Huskers need to try and figure out the junk that Penn State will throw at them......though fear not....Nebraska already knows how to not figure out defenses. Last but not least, while the Nittany Lions are a terrible shooting team, they're even worse on the road.
Prediction: Huskers 60 - Penn St 52 with a 78% chance of Runzas.
