Some of you come lately Husker fans may not be as familiar with Colorado's Linda Lappe as the old guard Husker wbb fans, but she was let go today by Colorado after six years on the job as head coach.

She played for Colorado in the late 90's and early 2000's and was a big thorn in the Huskers side while she played for Buffaloes. I'm not sure there was any other Buffalo that was a bigger problem for the Huskers back in those days against the Huskers than her. Although I hated the thought of it when she went up against us, I'll be the first to admit after she graduated that she was fun to watch play.

Six years ago CU was hoping she when they hired her, she would find the same sort of success that Ceal Berry had when she coached the Buffs. Lappe probably won't be unemployed to very long as she is a top notch recruiter. Hard to tell where CU goes from here.

Apparently sounds as if Colorado is still looking to pick from the Ceal Berry tree. TCU head coach Raegan Pebley the former Buffalo (Raegan Scott) is a possible candidate for the job.

So the buffaloes are in the same rut that Nebraska is in football. In that they are looking at the Buffs way the same as the Nebraska way.

CU finds its coach and it's a head scratcher.

JR Payne, who led Santa Clara University to its first winning record since 2008, has been named the eighth head women’s basketball coach in University of Colorado history, athletic director Rick George announced Monday.

She has signed a five-year contract and the hire will become official pending approval of CU’s Board of Regents, as is the case with all high-profile campus positions.

“There was a lot of interest in the position, which confirmed this is viewed as one of the top coaching jobs in women’s basketball,” George said.  “After interviewing JR and hearing from several coaches that have worked with her, she rose to the top and we’re excited to name her as our head coach.”
